We went out to Embers in Mission for dinner last night. It took over ownership of Mission Horse and they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They operate as Mission Horse for breakfast and lunch and it changes to Embers for dinner in the evening. We've gone for breakfast since it changed ownership and breakfast is still good. The dinner was a disaster. We were the only customers there and after our meal I can understand why. I've read other reviews and I concur with their comments. I had 12 chicken wings and a small order of French fries and my husband had the half rack of ribs. I waited over 30 minutes for my order of chicken wings and fries (I think our waitress forgot to put in the order as my husband's food arrived before mine). My husband's 1/2 rack of ribs was the smallest that I've ever seen. The ribs were not very meaty and there were 6 ribs maximum on the order. I would guess that it was on 6 or 8 oz. of meat covered in what tasted like a bottled barbecue sauce. We had to ask for silverware. I had a can of pop and had to ask for a glass to drink it in. She disappeared and never came out with the glass. I went to the kitchen and asked them for a glass. My husband asked for a refill on the coffee and after waiting l0 minutes I got up and started towards the Kitchen to get the coffee. Our waitress finally appeared with the coffee at this time. It's unfortunate because the breakfasts are good but to spend 1 1/2 hrs for dinner at a diner is unacceptable. My husband told our server that we were very disappointed in the level of service and explained that he was not leaving a tip because we received no service. I ordered DoorDash from them and all of my receipts and packages said Logan's Roadhouse. I was surprised. I do order frequently from Logan's my mother loves their baked sweet potatoes, but they have problems with consistency and missing items from your order. I ordered a 1lb baby back ribs and I didn't weigh them but I don't believe I got a 1lb. Baked beans were not very good and the Mac and cheese had no flavor. Maybe it's because I was around when the original owners created the menu, that I know what the food here used to taste like. The quality has taken such a huge nosedive and the prices are nutty!! My favorite has always been the Marco wrap. Bbq chicken chunks in a home made flat bread, shredded cheddar and fresh lettuce and tomato and the BEST PART.. the tarragon sauce....mmmm, so thick, creamy and delicious- NOT ANYMORE Corners have been cut!!! The chicken is just ok, the bread was tough and impossible to bite through, the lettuce was soggy, hardy any tomatoes and the tarragon sauce was runny and tasteless. Sooo disappointing for $20... yeah, you read that right!! The fries are ok, but that alone isn't going to ever get me through the doors again. I wish whoever bought would have kept the quality the same as it used to be when Mark opened it. I would then gladly pay the $20.... But not for what it's become. read more

Well worth the trip! We had a pulled pork sandwich which really held its own. It was a great balance of pork, slaw, and a delicious bun which was slightly toasted. Great work here! The staff was attentive and friendly, and the sides were great. I would eat here again. read more

The food here is "homemade style" and always consistent. The chicken is their specialty and they really do make juicy, flavourful chicken. The sides are typical of a BBQ house with bean, mashed potatoes and corn etc available which is a nice change from just fries (they do make decent fries as well - but soggy). Most items on menu are for a dinner combo which includes various #s of chicken pieces and two sides. We ordered the "family pack" which is a huge sampler of items - delighted that their ribs and brisket were also very good. Bit pricey - but worth the extra as an alternative to fast food. Staff are nice. Patio open (COVID) seasonal. They package there pickup really well. read more

Underestimated restaurant in Mission. Easy take out and healthier than KFC etc. they have single dinner meals or family deals with wholesome and tasty sides and options. The chicken of course is moist and tasty but the pulled pork and southern meat options are down really well too. Med pricing. I know barbecue, and this ain't it. Sorry to break it to the people who claim to love authentic BBQ, but when the joint doesn't smell like your clothes after a campfire, it isn't the real deal. Embers has meat and BBQ sauce, but the preparation is similar to what someone would do in a condo. The portions are huge but other than the pulled pork wrap, the quality wasn't there. My ribs were either boiled or baked (no smoke ring or even a hint of smoke flavour) and drowning in overly sweet sauce. While ribs should be tender, the bones shouldn't drop off the meat- proper barbecued ribs should have a little pull. In addition, authentic barbecued ribs will have a crust from the rub- these were simply mushy. The beans were essentially molasses with no smokiness at all and the mixed salad was room temperature and flavourless. For what it's worth, I've done BBQ competitions and own my own smokers. read more

Behind a creepy motel and near a gas station and homelessness. It seems this place always has a just few customers. How do they sustain themselves? Hmm. Unenthusiastic staff and over priced food is what you get. Yes. This seems "normal" and acceptable for the locals, those with low standards, and rednecks. The rednecks get all bent out of shape and send me a nasty private message for sharing my opinion. Suffice to say, we won't be coming back. When bbq sauce is trickling down your forearms and coleslaw ends up on your shirt, you've found yourself a damn good bbq joint! It's certainty no Memphis Blues but it's the best you'll find in Mission. The pulled pork is da bomb. And the bun is so soft. Meat's always perfectly seasoned and oh so tender. And it's cheap! My wife found this place on Yelp one day when out in Mission buying cheap gas. We never ever thought a place this good could exist in this part of Metro Van. Everything is made from scratch, not a box. The meat is very high quality, and the prices are very reasonable. Portions are huge, service is excellent, and the flavour is down-right foot stompin', mouth waterin', blues listenin' friggin amazing! Small place, relatively unknown. I couldn't give it anything less than a 5 because I've been there a lot of times and I've never had a single issue! I found this place on Yelp, and being so close to home I had no choice but to try another BBQ spot..and the reviews were good.. I had the traditional BBQ Sandwich and my GF had the Heidi Bake, both very good - I was really impressed with the BBQ taste was good, and my GF raved about the Heidi also. Mind you neither one of us walked out stuffed as the portions I thought were bit small.... Prices were very good for a dinner, atmosphere was not fancy which i like, it was very clean, I never managed to to get to the bathrooms. It's a small restaurant not a huge place but again what I really like. I would go again a few other menu items I still need to try, and PS the fries are real potatoes and delicious. The four of us arrived at 5:20 p.m. wondering what we were getting ourselves into for there was no one there. We were so glad we took the chance. The servers were super friendly and all worked together to serve all the tables. The food arrived with in moments of it being ordered and WOW! everything was fantastic. We had the platter (pulled pork, chicken, wings, roast and ribs. There was enough for everyone and WOW! was it ever good. The price was just right, too. Oh, ye! did I say that we were WOWED? Interesting location/Building. Wouldn't have been my first choice to put a restaurant. But they're making it work with what they have. Only been once, but would definitely go again. Had the Pulled Pork Wrap, I was genuinely surprised at how filling it was. Good portion sizes for a good price. Flavour was immaculate. Service is quick, and their selection of beverages is really decent. Was a little disappointed that they didn't offer them in fountain style, but I've seen a lot of places who don't do that. Salmon was bone dry, wings had no sauce, side dish of coleslaw was half full, side dish of fries was mushed down into a paper cup, side dish of baked beans had no flavour and looked like crap and the saddest part was the house bread. Used to be a nice warm tender mini loaf of perfectly cooked bread but now is a tiny bun no better then cheap grocery store buns. Lost my business. read more

First, I will start out...amazing fries!!! Seriously delish! I could eat an entire plate of those. The atmosphere was different then what I expected...walk up and grab a table, menu is already presented on the table. Find out what you want and then go up to the counter to order, pay then or later, then grab a number and sit down. Interesting concept, I'm open to experiencing different things so it was okay. My fiance and I went out for dinner solo, kids were gone for the weekend. We both ordered wraps and fries. The wrap is not a traditional wrap, its homemade, however it looks grilled on the flat top which resembles more of soft/hard taco shell. Both of us had dry, over cooked chicken inside our wraps. My wrap was pretty tasteless, his tasted better...however, they got soggy very quickly and made the whole dish difficult to eat. I would not order again. We told our waitress who advised she was going to let the kitchen know. If we come back we will try something else for sure. Perhaps the restaurant should look at making the chicken fresh upon order and change out the wrap. It would make all the difference in the world. read more

There is nothing I don't like at this place. The staff are super friendly, and the food is kick-ass. Loooove the ribs!! The potato salad has a dilly bite to it, making it one of a kind and so tasty.
