The technician called promptly after, asked for my address and said he would arrive within 15 mins. Upon arrival, he said he couldn't pick a single cylinder deadbolt and that he would have to drill it, rendering it unusable. He didn't provide an exact quote at that point, only a wide range for the price saying it depends on difficulty. After he finished drilling, he kept the cylinder, threw away the hardware, and didn't even clean up the metal shavings. Overall he charged a "discounted" service call fee (which wasn't previously mentioned) and a fee for drilling (which was allegedly the same price as picking a lock). He also said he would "waive the tax", which is ridiculous since labor is generally not subject to sales tax anyways. Overall, paid nearly $400 which felt like a ripoff for the job and locksmith but recognize the prompt service. I will try to find someone more trustworthy and transparent next time.

After walking my dog in the morning (a few days ago), I realized I didn't have my keys... and my…read morehusband wasn't coming back for hours... and our building manager didn't have a spare key... and our management/owners didn't care about me being locked out. Awesome way to start a morning, BTW. Thankfully I had my phone and was able to do a quick Yelp search and found Secure LA. The reviews don't really talk about them fixing lock outs, but I figured I'd try and gave them a call. It was around 8am and I was afraid no one would answer (you know, business hours and all) but thankfully, Nick did! He said he could be there in about an hour (~9:15) and that it would be $75. I wasn't thrilled about the wait or the cost, but honestly, what else could I do? I'm glad I called Nick, though, because he showed up right on time (after calling to tell me he was on his way, then that he was outside) and got right to work. He didn't have his full lock-picking kit on him, so another guy Ernesto joined shortly after. Nick wasn't able to pick the lock initially (using his mini-set of tools) but then neither was Ernesto, even with more tools. After traditional lock picking didn't work, they then tried a few other things... something with a piece of paper (?) along the door crevice... then banging a key into the key hole trying to get it to move... I'm not exactly sure what they were doing, but they tried a lot of things for ~30 minutes and at that point, Nick said they had to just take off the door knob entirely and would replace it for $25. NOTE: Nick said that usually they can pick most doors within 5-10 minutes... but something about my lock made it really different and difficult. I was a little disappointed that they weren't able to pick my lock (so you know, I could eat breakfast, feed my dog, go to work...) but at the same time, strangely relieved to know the lock was so secure. I actually needed a few key copies anyway, so they did that in their van while Nick "rang me up" (wrote an invoice and took my check). Total cost: $110 for the lock out, new door knob, and 4 key copies. More than I had expected to spend that morning (considering I shouldn't have forgotten my key and gotten locked out in the first place) but all things considered, really friendly service, quick to come to my rescue, and they got the job done and I was on my way to work by around 10:15. Lesson #1: Don't get locked out. Lesson #2: If you do get locked out, call Nick.

This review is for Kyle at La La Locksmith…read more I called La La Locksmith and was quoted $80-$120 and was promised 15-20 min arrival. I price checked one other place (Eric's locksmith) that came in at $95 flat. I gambled thinking it was an easy fix. Kyle arrives (after 30-35 mins) and immediately said it would be $120 then was unable to open the lock and suggested another method that had a 50% chance of requiring the entire lock to be replaced. I didn't want to risk it and sent him away. At least he asked first before breaking the lock! Note: Kyle is a licensed professional but he's just not a pro at picking locks. If you think your lock needs to be picked try elsewhere. I am confident in the future that La La Locksmith can improve with some more training. Thereafter I called Eric who proceeded to pick the lock in under 2 minutes.
