Very precise key copies. They work fit and turn like a dream. At 4:50pm on a Friday ( of course!) my key broke off in my front door and I could not get it out. I was luckily right around the corner from Advance Lock and Key and I ran over to their shop and got there at 4:57, a mere 3 min before they closed. I pleaded my case and Juan popped by after they closed up shop for weekend, to remove the broken key. It took him no time and he was very efficient, but the fact that he took the time after hours was much appreciated. The price was very reasonable too! The first time I came here, I had a great experience--friendly service, fair pricing, and quick work. The employee who helped me then was professional and helpful (5 stars for him). However, when I returned a few days later for the same service, a different employee--a tall, heavyset Black man--charged me double with no explanation and was rude when I asked about it. As we all know electronic key fobs for yr car can be pricey to replace, especially if you accidentally washed the spare key in the laundry and need to replace it. Therefore, bought an uncut key on eBay for the Cadillac and arrived here to have it cut. The guys got the job done. It took about 5 tries to perfect the spare car key but they made sure it functioned and I was thrilled it worked in the end. Several key shops said they didn't have the machinery to cut the key fob. So well done guys! Also, it was a great price point at $5. It's closer than Home Depot and once again, love supporting local businesses. Getting this errand done made my day! read more

New in town, I needed two apartment keys copied. Found this family-owned business and Adam (third-Gen. proprietor). Knew exactly the Schlage key form I needed. In and out in 10 min. Couldn't have been easier, nicer or more efficient. Right on Lincoln Blvd, close to Marina del Rey as well as Venice. I called for help with an interior door (with a ~70 year old door handle and lock) that would not open. The person I spoke with told me that they would send someone by noon and would call to let me know when the locksmith was on the way. The locksmith arrived about 30 minutes after I received the call. He assessed the situation and tried to work the lock open with a thin sheet of mostly rigid plastic. It eventually did open when he worked the plastic and I jiggled the door handle. We were able to determine that the door would not open because the latch had broken. The locksmith even had a replacement latch that fit the lock. I was very satisfied with all aspects of the service. SPECIAL NOTE - do NOT call the 424 phone number listed on the Advance Lock and Keys website. This place has been around a long time, since the late 70's. They are a one stop shop if that is what you need. They also do emergency repair. They are family owed and I like that very much. I can get keys made there and they actually work, as opposed to Home Depo. They can change out dead blots if you want, or just change the keys. They are registered with the police department, so that gives me a level of comfort. The service is very nice. I like them and will use them again. read more

Came in looking for a couple of basic door hardware parts. Guy at the counter glared at me from the start and was entirely dismissive, arrogant, condescending. He claimed the part my contractor sent me to get doesn't exist. WRONG, I see them online and posted a pic of the one I bought after fleeing from this establishment. Very rude when I explained and even showed him the other parts I needed, told me I didn't know what I was talking about, then suddenly understood and complained that he would have to order the parts. My experience here was so unpleasant I had to say something. The bald guy at the font desk could not have been more rude. When I made a request for keys he met it with a rude "I can't do that" and finding out why afterwards was like pulling teeth. He was the opposite of solution oriented and was just a 'No man'. Fortunately, David was there and was able to explain to him what could be done. I gave the guy a $20 and he told me he was convinced I gave him a $10.
