We had the most ridiculous experience here. I hope the owner takes note of his employees behavior.
The bartender ignored us the entire time we were there. We were eating more than drinking, in part as we could not get service. The food was really good so we paid no mind to it- or the fact a cook came out of the kitchen with NO SHIRT ON in overalls sweaty and nasty- very unsanitary!
However, the three of us were chatting and had a good time, so I secretly gave them a good review right before the check came out - despite the lacking, blatantly arrogant bartender - as the food was excellent - but- as we were paying the bill, my friend had a question on it, she had a minor misunderstanding - no big deal, maybe a $4 question. Simple resolution either way but the bartender reacted very immaturely, throwing a kiniption fit and instead of responding with courtesy, he actually threw the check at her, and made a snide comment about a a mandatory 25% tip.
He was so incredibly rude to her, I dropped the review (which I was writing as we sat there) a star. I was pretty shocked at his juvenile behavior, but being a nice place where clearly the owner thought about the interior and the menu -I thought - why should a decent restaurant suffer over one cocky server?
Well, tonight we were enjoying dinner at Modis, I was served a 'blow job' shot from the 'guy at the bar'
We turn around and it is the rude bartender from Ember. He was sitting at the bar with a deep rip in his jacket, duck taped up and a bong hanging out, grinning at us. I was a little confused and my friend was incensed. The bartender from Ember was sending me a message, Due to me saying the service was rude on Yelp, which it was. Unbelievable! Due to my honest review - which if you read it was not even bad - that he was rude last night - he became disgusting, obnoxious and vulgar, far surpassing merely rude. This man represents a restaurant that purports to provide a high quality experience? He represents Ember? They have lost us. Totally. Who employs that kind of nasty service?
What was awesome was how cool and down to earth the service at Modis was in representing Breck in a positive and upstanding way. They took that thing away and became pretty protective and super cool. I had given Ember a 4 star review despite extremely poor behavior towards my friend from this man. He should not be dealing with people and is especially rude to women. no class what so ever. My friend (who he was rude to) and her husband used to frequent Ember but will not be going again.
What showed taste was the manner with which this was handled by staff at Modis, even though they did not need to be so cool and professional, they were very gracious and turned things around for us, they are just really, really nice. I suggest taking your business where service is considerate. I suggest Modis or Relish. NOT EMBER.
Ember employs real trash, great food but trashy staff - nothing makes up for that behavior. Ran into some local service the following evening and shared the story - they had some of their own. No wonder the place was empty. He scares away good people.
UPDATE: now I am getting abrasive and rude messages from bartenders friends. seriously? maybe an apology and some courtesy? I simply stated facts. i watched the bartender be surprisingly rude to my friend, dropped a star then have been harassed, first by the employee and now his friends. Sorry but this place draws the worst of Breck. I loved it when we went in, was a big fan of the food but I have never seen ruder service, and apparently that behavior is expected and encouraged here. enjoy yourselves. would not survive with that attitude five minutes in a more competitive environment like SF, LA or NYC. boo. read more
