Emancipet is a non-profit veterinary that provides basic services for pets like annual wellness check-ups, vaccines and other non-emergency services like nail trims. I get my pets vaccinated here. They also offer mobile clinics on the weekend with free spay/neutering for Austin residents. Check their website for mobile clinic locations as they do vary. Keep in mind that since it is a walk-in clinic, service is on a first come, first serve basis and wait times can be quite long especially on weekends. I recommend calling ahead of time to get an estimate of the current wait time. The employees are very friendly too. I like that once your name is added to the waitlist, they'll send you a link to the waitlist so you'll know where you're at in the queue. They offer great prices on vaccines, meds, and other non-emergency services. It's a great way to save on pet care and support a non-profit organization.

As much as Emancipet claims this location is "Central Austin", this is a very vague definition, as being in between Round Rock and Austin does not consider you Central Austin. Better to label this as Northeast Austin, as this was 30 mins away from me. This was my third FREE spay/neutered & microchipped pup and I am still happy with the results. Unlike 2019, you can no longer come to their mobile clinic for a first-come, first-serve spay/neuter appointment. Instead, you now have to pick up a voucher, call the clinic location of your choice, and schedule from there. If you're looking for the soonest availability, expect mid-August. Note: try requesting to be put on a wait list, as we were literally contacted that day and got an appointment the following week. Pre-blood work is not needed, as the day of your appointment, your pup will be admitted for bloodwork that morning. Once bloodwork is complete, you will be informed if your pup is cleared for surgery. If cleared, you'll return from 3-5 PM that same day to pick up your new woman/man. Note: if you cannot pick up your pup during that time frame, they will send your pup to the nearest shelter for overnight boarding... They say the third time is the charm, but somehow, not so much for us. Good news, our baby is doing well, is healthy, and recovering from her surgery beautifully. Bad news, when we arrived home, the microchip was sitting ON HER FUR.... not in her skin....?? We called the clinic and informed them of our finding and they replied, "it does not always get implanted" and that we would have to return...

I was skeptical about coming here since I always saw long lines of people waiting outside but since it was a cold day today, not many people were here. I brought a specimen of what seemed like worms and I'm glad I did so the doctor could quickly diagnose the issue. The staff is incredible, the facilities are very clean, and the atmosphere is very nice. I will be coming here in the future for sure!

Literally the rudest woman I've ever spoken to in my life- and she has so many bad reviews on this page. Emancipet WTF?!! Fire her already.

NEVER GO HERE IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET Do yourself and your pets a favor and stay the hell away from this place. The customer service lady (I noticed multiple people have already mentioned her in their reviews- i pulled the attached picture from another review) is the worst person I have ever encountered. Rude, uninformed, unprofessional. While I was one of the first people in line for my cat's spay, she assisted Spanish speakers who had just walked in (I had been waiting for an hour and half, on top of having booked by appointment 4 months in advance). I speak Spanish fluently, however I was overlooked many times and talked down to when I had questions about certain procedures. I was told my total would be free, however was faced with a $150 total once pickup came around. An incident that I've noticed in many reviews on this page. I don't know how this girl still works there and when it was clear she wasn't on the same page as me or had the patience to speak with me, I asked for her to bring back a manager I could talk to and it was literally her own sister. Once it was time to pick up my cat, she was shaved too close to her skin and was bleeding and she had random bruises all over her body. She also brought back home a flea infestation, despite only being there for 6 hours and being an indoor cat. This place is unsafe and unjust and I will literally band together with other bad reviewers to try and get this woman fired. I have beef with her (and this sh*t hole of a "vet clinic") and she deserves to be fired 10000%. So f***ing rude, never in my life have I been talked to that way.

    Unprofessional staff member.
    Jennaa M.

If you want your pet to come out bruised up everywhere due to poorly being shaved this is the place! The we're two staff that were extremely unfriendly and unprofessional. You ask for services and yet they don't get the information down right. I'm sure other locations are good definitely the one down south. Will not be recommending this location to ANYONE. I've dealt with many spays/neuter and never have seen anything like this in my life.

What's so great? 1) Small groups with a low child-to-teacher ratio. During our week, there were approximately 8-10 kids and almost always 2 or more counselors at each outing. The curriculum has an educational/health & fitness focus, and the well-trained counselors are managed by a certified teacher (Tammy) who is often present during the week. 2) Exercise & being outdoors. The kids are moving most of the day, walking around town to see the sights, playing on splash pads & playscapes, or taking a hike. ATX Kids like to move it, move it! 3) Being a tourist in your own city. The kids (ages 4 - 12) learn to use public transportation and recognize city landmarks while exploring many of the cool destinations available in their hometown. During our week in Summer 2016, our child toured several art museums and historical sites, visited a few parks and walked urban trails. A highlight at the end of the week was visiting the Governor's Mansion and having snack time with the First Dog of Texas, Pancake. 4) Supporting a community-based, local nonprofit. ATX Kids Club offers discounts for children whose families might otherwise be unable to afford this kind of summer camp. They also serve as a CCMS provider through the Texas Workforce Commission. 5) Having a "normal workday" schedule for a reasonable fee. Summer camp hours are 9a-5p ($275/wk), and you can add extended care for 8a-6p for an additional fee ($65/wk). This is such a relief compared to other summer camps that require parents to juggle work hours for drop-off and pickup. I do recommend the extended care unless you work very close to the drop point. Downtown rush hour traffic is horrific! It was fun for us to see the play-by-play pictures of the kids in action on the ATX Kids Club FB page each day, confirming that our child was enjoying camp and making new friends. We're looking forward to signing up for Summer 2017, as well as trying out some of the school holiday and Saturday adventures later this year.

There are 2 teachers for 14 pre K children and maybe 3 teachers for all the total program. With too many kids, my child experienced bullying by both pre K students and older students. There will hitting, name calling and pushing that happened. The staff didn't do anything about it, write up a report or inform me this was going on. My kid told me everyday that boys were hitting him and calling him names :( The expectation is the children sit and color or sit and do a project for most of the afternoon. This is fine if a child is older but very hard for younger kids. Instead of thinking of creative ways to work with the younger children, they just kept telling my child to "sit" and that "my child should listen to them". The staff all have art backgrounds, no necessarily childcare backgrounds. They are teaching the pre K kids about "imagination". My child now tell me that "I don't like imagination". Between there being too many kids, the bullying, and the sitting, my child kept escaping. The teachers weren't paying attention and had trouble finding him and another kid. They had both either hid in the bathroom or left the building. This happened 3 times in 3 weeks (that I was told about) and probably more. Needless to say after a month we have pulled our child from the program. I would not recommend this program for younger kids.
