Kenny is always calm, and very cooperative with the vet and staff, he's a cool guy anyway

Second time we've been in office with Kenny, on short notice, and offered same day or next day visit. Very no nonsense, straightforward and very much discussed financial options when it came to different treatments ect. I've been a dog and cat parent FOR DECADES, so this isn't a review posted in office, in my home and I am very knowledgeable. I've recommended to family and friends, and will continue returning. Thank you to the staff for being kind, gentle and very pleasant and approachable. Also, we moved and decided to not commute to our last vet, so this is why we're new here, I'm glad we did.

    Happy dog

I took my dog here desperate for help due to red rashes /hives all over his body dealing with this for several months .. I took him to 3 different vets they couldn't do anything for me. The moment I brought him here the Vet Knew what was going on & prescribed meds and by week 1 my dog was already much much better! I am blessed to have come across this clinic. The doctor was very patient with me due to my many questions and the pricing is great, budget friendly. I have even informed all of my loved ones with pets to bring them here. I highly recommend.

Maryn is feeling so much better. Thanks again, Dr. Spellman!

Dr. Spellman is the only veterinarian that I trust. And for good reason. He doesn't beat around the bush; he tells it like it is. A straight shooter, so to speak. He knows his stuff. I think he's been practicing for about 55 years or so, and it shows. The visits are quick, but thorough. Also, the pricing is extremely fair. He doesn't tell you it's necessary for all of this extra testing, unless he thinks it is necessary. He does not instill the fear of God into you about your animal dying if you don't do a, b and c, unlike other experiences that I have had with other DVMs. Also, his techs are amazing. I don't know their names, but one is a very sweet lady and the other, I believe Sergio, took such good care of my cat that she wasn't even breathing hard, like she usually is. My cats are very important to me and I take all 3 of them to Dr. Spellman. I'm so grateful for y'all and I found a vet for life.

Dr. Spellman has been our veterinarian for over 30 years, proof that we have trusted him with all of our dogs. He is very honest and makes many suggestions of the best treatment for your animal. Last year, our dachshund injured his back, and Dr. Spellman got us through the stressful ordeal without surgery. It wasn't easy and it took time, but Dr. Spellman was there for us all the time. If you are looking for a knowledgeable, skillful, kind, yet straight shooting veterinarian, Dr. Spellman is the man to go to.

So thankful for Dr.Spellman and his staff. My 8mo old kitten had been vomiting for 3 days, and after calling about 5 other veterinarian offices, getting told they won't see him until the following week, I came across N Lamar Vet clinic. Dr.Spellman answered my call (it was about 10 til close) and he was so kind and reassuring. He slotted me in the next morning and even gave such helpful advice for if any additional symptoms occurred overnight. We've now had two visits with the doc and I'm so happy I found my sweet boy a vet that is straightforward, accommodating, and clearly loves what he does. Bonus - if you're a fan of dry humor, he has some great one-liners lol. THANK YOU DR.SPELLMAN and staff!!!!

My usual vet, who we have been seeing since adopting the cat almost 2 years ago, rudely dismissed my concerns over the phone and insisted that I needed to pay an $80 office visit fee just to get an answer to my question over the phone (the question was "What does the PCR panel test for?"). I started calling every other vet in Austin to find a clinic that has experience with Tritrichomonas and that I felt comfortable with. Several clinics admitted that they did not know what the parasite was or had never treated it before. Another lied and said "oh, that is super easy to treat and really common and straightforward!" which I knew was not accurate from the empirical literature online. I finally found Austin Urban Vet and the experience we have had so far has genuinely been night and day different from pervious clinics. From the very first call, the AUV team was empathetic to our situation, VERY transparent about pricing (they provided it in writing), and explicitly clear about which PCR diagnostic panel they use at AUV and exactly what it tests for. They were open and honest about their experience with Tritrichomonas and I immediately felt at ease and confident in the care that they could provide my cat. After chatting with my partner about my findings from calling almost every vet in Austin, we both agreed Austin Urban Vet was the best one to move forward with, so we made an appointment. Right off the bat, I was happy to find that AUV has a private parking lot (for free!). I headed inside with my cat and the team at the front desk was so kind and helpful. They quickly checked me in and invited me to grab a bottle of water or make myself a cup of coffee as I waited for the tech to take us into the room. We waited for maybe ~5 minutes before the tech took us to the exam room, where she scanned my cat for her microchip, weighed her, and asked questions about the presenting problem, history, etc. Dr. Helen was who attended us for the exam itself, and she was so kind and thorough. I really felt that she was providing genuine feedback, and she was honest about her experience with this parasite. She was transparent about the treatment plan and let me know her general thoughts (Ie., "If she is still positive, we will do X. If she is negative, we can try Y.") We are now waiting for the PCR results, but so far, I am so happy with our experience and feel confident that Dr. Helen will provide us with the best care possible.
