Please read if your dog is large or deep-chested. This review is long overdue. The loss of my dog was profoundly painful, and it has taken me a long time to find the words to share this. I brought my 12-year-old Lab to this clinic after she began collapsing for no clear reason. The vet said he could see nothing wrong with her aside from her known diabetes-related issues and intermittent blindness. He said she appeared to him to be fine. Not long afterward, my dog suffered an acute emergency and died from gastric dilation-volvulus (bloat). Her death was extremely painful and traumatic. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have since learned that unexplained collapse can be one of the early warning signs of bloat, particularly in large or deep-chested dogs, and that there are preventive procedures that may be available. I wish I had been given any guidance about this risk and the options available.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I am writing this out of responsibility to other pet parents. If your dog is at higher risk for bloat, I urge you to ask very specific questions and seek additional opinions. I had the worst experience ever with this location! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Took them few days to get back to me with blood work results. Had to call back few times to request a written report.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The worst part is this: My cat has high blood sugar level of about 500, which is considered an emergency. They gave him 2 unit insulin 1 time a day, which is useless. I waited 6 more days, and called back to have them to increase his intake for 2 times a day, which is the least minimal, and they still refused, saying he needs to stay on 1 dose for another 2 weeks. Dr. Katz, who initially took us in, well, it's a disgrace in my opinion that he is allowed to practice medicine. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I called them on the phone later that day to confront them about their lack of professional treatment they demonstrated, well, they didn't liked my opinion about the subject and told me to go somewhere else to seek treatment for my cat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] What a joke!! Who told them that I am even interested to stay with them?! Not even for free I don't!! I had few other diabetic cats before, which I took care of them myself with professional guidance of other great vets, and these cats lived very long life with proper treatment. Finally decided to search for a vet up here in Austin for my dog, and after 2 recommendations for Crestview (+ some great reviews on Reddit and Yelp), I decided to book. I love that they offer Saturday appointments, and booking was easy. I booked online, filled out the paperwork for my dog, and paid the deposit for the appointment (required for Saturday appts., but it goes toward your total visit cost). We were seen right on time and had an easy exam visit with Nancy and Dr. Brooke. Great customer service, very kind and enthusiastic staff, and relatively fair pricing (lower than we've paid elsewhere for a visit!). Our deposit was only $64 for the appt., and we took home some eye drops for another $21. Our dog, Hurley, had no issues with the visit, and we will certainly be back for any vet needs! read more

This one hurts...Crestview vet treated my first Dane when she had cancer and did an amazing job treating her end of days. During the entire process I spent close to 10k with Crestview vet and I felt great knowing how much care they gave her. With that said; it's extremely sad to see the prices and business tactics they are using lately. I understand that Chewy is an industry changer and their prices are hard to compete with but charging $183 for 28 pills of AMOXICILLIN is criminal. THIS IS WHY people are going to chewy. I can get 30 pills for $57 on Chewy, but because he has an infection and it's on a Friday....I get charged $6.50 per AMOXICILLIN tablet. ($182.91 total) This is bad business. After 5 years of supporting their business, I will be disappointingly looking for a new vet. read more

Today during my little Chichi RobertO's well check I asked if they could try to cut his nails. Even with sedatives at home it is just too much for his little soul to bear. Moderately incompetent. You can tell how someone is based on quality of questions or conversations. They wasted my time. They were my dogs vet for a year and he was losing hair that time on and off. Biting himself and they couldn't figure it out or didn't even care to look enough. Every time they'd charge for a new pill or shampoo for several hundred dollars. Just because someone is nice to you doesn't mean they know what they're doing. Another vet figured out and fixed it on the first visit and my dog is good now after a month. Last time I was there. They didn't give the proper medication for what they told me was the issue or look at my dog's skin even though they charged me for it, or do an annual. They didn't listen to me about what's the best way to deal with my dog because he was anxious and tried to force a muzz (he's a very calm lab). The vet just kept giving me his own assumptions rather than asking questions. Overall, not recommended. I think they lack experience or attention and never ask much questions. read more

I had Ashtin and Dr. Felix Carmona today with my control aggressive, reactive heeler mix. Everyone was fantastic. Scheduling was easy and transparent. Filling out their forms online was seamless, and when we arrived today early for our appointment, the front desk techs were fantastic at helping us safely in to the clinic. I felt respected and heard. We configured a great plan of action, and I came away feeling so good that my dog was taken care of and honored by others. Today was our first trip to a new vet & I was more nervous than the puppy was, BUT the entire facility was very clean & the staff were extremely sweet and knowledgeable. A true animal lovers vet office. The staff all showed lots of love and passion in what they do here & answered every questions or concerns we had. Our doctor was very informative & down to earth. Since we moved to Austin we have been taking our two dogs here. At first they were great, we had no issues. However recently in the last 2 visits both my husband and myself were ridiculed by staff, both secretaries and the veterinarians. Belittling us and speaking down to us as dog owners that we are not doing what is best for our dogs as per their agenda. We love our dogs, they are family so we decided to go to another veterinarian and get a second opinion regarding a surgery. When I called to cancel the surgery the secretary staff was horribly rude and cruel on the phone. She made me so upset, I was so distraught after the phone call because of how she spoke to me. I'm done with this place. Been going here for a couple years and stared going because of all the high reviews on Google. realized the other day that most reviews aren't real, they're by people with that as they're only review. the vet himself was fine, nice guy, but they almost killed my cat by their negligence and inability to return my phone calls. final straw was a couple days ago, I called with a question for the vet bc my cat is sick right now. the lady on the phone said she would ask the vet and get back to me. I called twice more after that and everyone kept saying the vet was busy. on the final attempt to get in touch before they closed, the receptionist was extremely rude to me. I called about for the third time about 19 minutes before they closed stating I still hadn't heard back from the vet and it's been all day I've been waiting on a return call. she said he was with a patient and would call me back. I asked how I can be sure he was going to call me back since you close soon and I really needed to speak with him today. she was VERY rude and stated "yeah, I just said. I will make sure". well, he didn't call back and neither did anyone else with an update. I was also dismissed by someone on the phone about a month earlier when I called asking if my cat was possibly having a reaction to the meds they gave her bc she was having some symptoms. the vet tech didn't even bother looking up the side effects of the meds and literally told me cats don't have a reaction to that medication and to keep giving it to her. well, she was wrong. I know because the reaction got worse and I googled the medication to find out the vet tech gave me wrong and bad information and I had to rush my cat to the ER. it took her literally 3 weeks to get back to 90% of her health. they make me feel like a huge burden for calling and asking questions, they're rude to me when I do, and I can't even get in contact with the vet when I have an actively sick cat. there are so many other highly rated vets in austin, don't risk your pets life with this one read more

Found a stray cat hit by a car. Rushed him here. He didn't make it unfortunately but they were extremely kind, empathetic and reassuring. Gave me water and tissues cause I was crying. Offered coffee and other refreshments too. They dropped everything and helped me when I came in with the little guy bundled up. They made sure I was okay too, gave me some space in a private room (it was a bit traumatizing, the cat was in very bad shape) and they did everything they could. Our dog was constantly itching, had constant eye boogers, and sneezing so much and we were excited to finally get the questions answered. The vet said "that's normal for dogs". We just adopted our dog from the shelter and the vet barely took a look at him. He gave us flea and tick meds (which we find out later are way cheaper on Chewy) then let us on our way. Nothing about dental, nothing about how to relieve our dogs symptoms, he barely answered our questions and had us feeling like we were taking up his time. Later we find out that those symptoms were NOT normal. He had fleas and allergies. Our dog is doing much better now WITHOUT the help of Crestview Clinic. If you want to waste your money on a fake smile and overpriced meds, this is the place for you. If you want someone to actually care for your pet, go somewhere else. read more

They were empathetic and they acted quickly to save him from a life-threatening condition; they kept me in the loop during each step, including advising me of the cost and propose of everything they did before they did it. The morning we had to put our older cat to sleep, Jordan at the front desk told me they were too busy to see us. It was such a surprise and a disappointment on what was ultimately a very sad day for us. After sort of repeating the situation to her and trying to clarify that this was almost certainly an end-of-life visit (we'd seen Dr. Kautz several times, they would have known the situation if they'd stopped to look it up) I was told a doctor could maybe see us in a few hours, but that due to how busy they were we would probably need to just drop him off and come back later. Since I didn't want my cat dying alone, in a cage, in the back room, I started scrambling around for other plans. The thing that still sticks with me -- and makes it hard for me to get over it, even a month later -- is how unsympathetic the entire transaction was. By the time they could have seen us, our cat had already passed on, up the street at Burnet Road Animal Hospital, whose staff were incredibly considerate and sensitive to what we were going through and the urgency of the situation. They're an older clinic and small, but the first thing they said when I called was 'I'm so sorry'. read more

I absolutely loved this place. I found them on Google. I wish I would have known about them when my Trinity was alive. I took her there because she wasn't doing good and they took her in ASAP! Ran tests on her then gave me the news. I took her home and did was they recommended and everyday they would call and check in her just because. When I finally decided to put her out of pain I took her up there and they made me feel like she was the only dog they were taking care of. Hands down the staff was the BEST! The team is patient, caring, and at no point did we feel we were being sold tests our pet didn't actually need (an issue we've felt at previous vets, and I'm assuming others have as well.) UPDATE: Took my other pup in today for her annual and they were just as lovely and caring this go around. Dr. Weirsig is amazing! My dog started having a cough one night and when I woke up the next morning to learn it hadn't yet subsided, I rushed into mama bear mode and called around until I found a vet who could see us within the hour after my usual vet was too worried harassing me about not bringing my dog in for his shots (got them at dog event recently!) to even talk to me about an appointment for Marley's cough. The team at Crestview was helpful, empathetic, caring and kind. The facilities are well kept and clean and there is ample parking. Everything you'd hope a vet's office would be, Crestview is. Marley's feeling better now, but I'm grateful that if he had to be sick that it led us here. I took my dog here because she had an abscess in April. They charged me $1.2k when her normal doctor back home charges $200. At her cleaning with her normal doctor he told me never to return to Crestview because the doctor that performed the abscess cleaning did a poor job. I should've listened. I recently took her because she had been experiencing some skin issues. After $300 we went home and I administered the antibiotics. She threw up after giving them to her. When I called to try and switch out the antibiotics I was told I would have to pay for the new antibiotics. I did not appreciate being nickel and dimed. I will not be returning. I went to her normal doctor back home and got 28 days of antibiotics and blood work done for less than they wanted to charge me for the new antibiotics. Save your money. There are better vets that won't over charge for subpar care. read more

Misdiagnosed my kitten with an uncurrable disease, if I had believed them I would've gone home and she would've died. Thank goodness I took her somewhere else that correctly diagnosed her with what she had, mycoplasma, which is treatable and my kitten started doing better immediately. I had a pre-scheduled check up that I did not want to go to but I went any way out of courtesy. I have two cats and one that gets chronic uti's and took her to my previous vet. I explained to the vet that when I first noticed an issue that I started adding some homeopathic uti drops to their water. My vet told responded with "that's not doing any good and you might as well have just given her water", then sent me with no medications and to try to get a urine sample. I also showed her a picture of bright red urine. After this event, I walked back in after paying, for my cat's records and immediately called Crestview. They are closer to my house anyway. EVERYONE I encountered was beyond amazing! The front staff, clinicians/techs, were all welcoming and empathetic. We saw Dr. Wiersig and she was amazing and detailed with her exam of Gomez. We discussed maintenance, possible surgery (if needed), dietary changes and was given an antibiotic. Gomez recovered and we continue to use Crestview !! read more
