All their coffees and teas are amazing. They are so flavorful and not at all watered-down. The right amount of sweetness for me as well! Also, any place that offers a flight is already a win in my book. Call it indecisiveness or just pure greed, but I like to try a bit of everything. I just had the absolute WORST experience with Em Coffee House's manager (who may also be the owner?) today over the phone. I have NEVER been spoken to in such an aggressive, hostile manner by a manager--or in fact, anyone--before. If you are considering supporting this business, I kindly ask you to PLEASE read this first!! I called the store this evening to ask if Em is hiring because I would appreciate the opportunity to apply and send a resume. The staff member who answered the phone stated he was unsure if they were hiring and directed me to reach out to his manager. He provided his manager's phone number and name, to which I understood as "Angeline." I confirmed this with him as well. (After checking Yelp afterwards, I now realize the manager's name is actually Anthony, and I simply misheard him.) I sent a text expressing interest in working at Em and stated that I would be happy to provide a resume or chat if there are positions available. An hour later, I received a call from the same number. When I picked up, there was no greeting, but I instead was greeted with an aggressive, "Did you come to my coffee shop today?!" I was a little confused at first, then realized it was Em's manager. I replied and said that I had not come by in person, but I called about an hour ago and was instructed to reach out. He angrily asked how I had gotten his number and the name of who I spoke to. He also scolded me for saying his name incorrectly in my text and seemed offended that I didn't know his name. I said that I spoke to a male staff member, but I didn't get his name, then apologized for the mistake. I had a feeling that he was possibly upset that staff had shared his personal number without asking him first, but regardless, I was very shocked by how aggressive his tone was, considering I was just following instructions. He then asked a series of questions in the same hostile tone, such as: "How many times have you been to my coffee shop?!?" and "Why didn't you come in person to my coffee shop today?!" He continuously interrupted me each time I tried to answer and followed up with more odd questions. My last straw was when he continued to yell at me and said, "If you really wanted to work here, you would have shown up at my coffee shop today and asked to speak to the manager to tell them you wanted a job. Why didn't you show up in person?" Even after politely answering that I was expressing interest by calling, he proceeded to reword this same statement two more times to essentially chastise me for not driving to his store just to ask if they are hiring. After being berated and yelled at multiple times, I finally hung up because I decided it simply was not worth putting up with verbal abuse just for a part-time job. I was so confused by his fixation on expecting me to have shown up to the store in person. I had called because I didn't know if they were even accepting applications in the first place... I would have been happy to chat in person, as stated in my text to him. This behavior was absolutely appalling, and I am stunned that a business owner feels comfortable speaking to customers that way. It felt extremely narcissistic and entitled, quite frankly. With his expectations, you'd think I was applying to a five-star restaurant and getting hired by Gordon Ramsay or something. I used to be a customer at Em, but I'll never return. Customers should be aware of how the business owner treats others before spending hard-earned money there. If this is how he speaks to guests, I can't imagine how he must treat his own staff. Safe to say, I dodged a bullet by not applying here. If you want excellent coffee and matcha, I highly recommend visiting Rang, Cane Corner, or Vinhouse instead! In addition to having amazing service, fair pricing, and better quality and flavor, they also don't yell at their customers (bare minimum). It's just not worth visiting Em to support someone who disrespects people in this way. And maybe save yourself the trouble by never applying to work here either. :) read more

Drinks: We tried the Banana Toffee Latte, which the girl working there said is their #1 seller. You can choose between regular or stronger coffee. I got regular and hubby got the "stronger," but honestly, his tasted like mine so I think they didn't even make his "stronger". It was a hot day, so an iced coffee definitely hit the spot. The latte wasn't overly sweet, which I liked. The inside was also nice and cool, and they have a water station where you can serve yourself some nice, cold water. Restroom: As a parent with a baby, I'm definitely more aware now of whether restrooms have diaper-changing stations. This restroom technically has one, but unfortunately, I couldn't use it because there's a cabinet placed directly in front of the changing station, so you can't pull the changing table down. I tried moving the cabinet, but it's fixed to the wall. see picture!! So I'm not really sure what parents are expected to do and it was almost 100 degrees outside to change my baby in a hot car. I never place my baby directly on the changing tables and always use a separate mat for her to put on the changing table. The only available surface nearby is the cabinet itself, but the countertop is extremely smooth and her mat was sliding across the cabinet way too easy and she could potentially fall of the cabinet. What's frustrating is that there seems to be plenty of space on the opposite wall where the hand dryer is. The hand dryer is in the middle of the wall, but the changing station could potentially be moved to that side where there appears to be enough room. I really hope they consider adjusting the setup because having a changing table that you can't actually use defeats the purpose of having one, especially for parents with babies. Overall: The iced Banana Toffee Latte was good and not overly sweet, and the café itself was comfortable and cool. I just wish the restroom setup was more practical and, most importantly, safe for parents who need to change their babies. read more

Ambience: Clean, bright, and lots of vibrant greenery. Service: fast, friendly Restroom: one only, but it was unavailable during my visit. There were quite a few people studying and working when I visited, with some people just hanging out and chatting quietly. Nice and relaxed atmosphere. The Beans: They import their coffee beans directly from the highlands of Vietnam and brew them using the traditional metal phin filter. Strawberry Matcha: One of their most popular drinks! It has house-made strawberry puree, your choice of milk, and a generous layer of premium ceremonial-grade matcha on top. I really liked the strawberry + matcha combination. We came here on June 18th around 9:00 a.m. and I will be honest with you this is my third time coming to this coffee shop and I will tell you it has consistently delivered on quality, customer service, and overall scrumdiddlyumptiousness of the drinks I've ordered. In particular the specialty drinks that they have on the right half of the menu. Going into the shop was actually quite fun because the music at the time playing in the background was energetic, but it wasn't loud. You were still able to have a conversation with the person or people you came in with. And like I said this is my third time coming here and you can taste the quality of the coffee and the ingredients put in all of the specialty drinks. Also when I came to second time I was actually very fortunate to see and have the owner of the shop greet me and take my order. He is such a lovely person. He is very charismatic, kind, and overall welcoming to all the people that enter his establishment. I've visited this spot several times now, and one thing that keeps me coming back is the consistency. Both the quality of the drinks and the service have been solid with every visit. So far, I've worked my way through a variety of their Vietnamese coffee offerings as well as a few matcha drinks, and everything I've tried is well balanced (between sweetness and taste of coffee). While the prices are on the higher side for a café, the quality of the ingredients, presentation, and overall experience help justify the cost. The ambiance is another highlight. The space feels inviting and comfortable, somewhere I could easily spend a few hours working, or catching up with a friend over coffee. One item that's still on my must-try list is the salt bread. I loved this place and spoke highly of it but it seems like the quality has gone down. The matcha has become watered down and the pandan coconut is severely lacking the flavor that they advertise. Service is still great but I won't be coming for the matcha anymore :-( The cookies however are great! I was a bit saddened when I saw The Alley (the former drink business) was gone, but it's nice to have a new coffee/drink place in the area. I'm cutting back a bit on my caffeine intake, so l've yet to try to the coffee, but l've had matcha drinks and an ube drink from Em. Most recently I've tried one drink from their seasonal series, the Matcha Cream Ube Milk. I got it half sweet, which was fine for me. I think I may have liked it slightly sweeter, but they only offer 100%, 50% or 0 sweetness. I could taste both individual flavors and thought it was an overall good drink. The matcha drinks I've had from here previously, the Matcha Einspanner and Strawberry Matcha have been good as well. I wasn't expecting the cream on the einspanner to be so thick, but it was a nice compliment to the flavor of the matcha, especially because I had opted to order my drinks without added sugar. After having their drinks with both no sugar and 50% sugar, I would say definitely keep it at 50% or 100%. Service was fast and friendly. So I first came across this coffee shop for a Yelp Experience & it truly was love at first penny.(Yelp Experience Inside Joke).I hadn't had a lot of experience with Vietnamese coffee or matcha but to say I'm a huge fan of both now is a massive understatement. Funny thing-I live in the Natomas area-so this coffee shop is not close to me,but I've been here 4x since my initial visit. When I took my 23 year old daughter to the shop,she told me that the matcha there was one of the highest quality matcha she has ever had. I spoke to the owner on one of my visits and he told me his process of procuring his awesome matcha.He informed me he actually flies out to Kyoto and goes out to the farms and hand selects the highest quality matcha available and brings em back to his 2 locations,here in Elk Grove and the other in San Diego. I feel like you can really taste the quality in the matcha drinks they serve there. Some of my favorite drinks I've had during my visits. -Banana Toffee Latte-This is my go-to non matcha drink-it's a delicate balance of the strength of the Vietnamese coffee cut with the sweetness of the banana chips and the toffee chips and the frothiness of the oat milk-it's a great drink. -White Truffle Tiramisu Cream-This is such a beautiful treat of a coffee drink-very sweet-it's topped with a biscoff cookie and I like to crumble it and have the added cookie flavor to every drink. -Banana Matcha-This is my favorite Matcha drink that they have here, I was blown away by the perfect dollop of creamy banana pudding that mixed in so nicely with the matcha, creating a perfectly balanced drink. The banana chips at the top were a fun touch. -Strawberry Matcha-a very close second when it comes to matcha drinks at this place-very refreshing drink, blown away by sheer amount of matcha used in their drinks-the strawberry cuts thru the earthy tones of the matcha and strikes that perfect balance of sweetness and refreshment -a very solid drink. So far only thing we have had from their pastry offerings was an order of cinnamon bread-which basically was a more dense cinnamon roll type dessert-it was pretty good but nothing out of this world. We came here around 9:30 on a Saturday morning. There were not many people and only 1 person in line. Don't know what was going on but it took a long time for the customer in front of me to finalize her order. But the cashier was being very patient and friendly while assisting the customer. There is only 1 cashier and no ordering kiosk. This was our second time here. The first time, we tried their regular salted bread. The second time, we got the super coconut coffee blast, pandan coconut latter and pandan coconut roll. Salted bread: it was too dense. The flavor was just ok. Super coconut coffee blast: it was creamy from the ice cream. Overall, tasted good but nothing to rave about. Pandan coconut latte: too much cream and not enough coffee. Too much ice so equals less drink. Pandan coconut roll: pretty good. A bit crispy on the outer, inside was a bit fluffy. Felt like it needed more sweetness like condense milk which is offer in their self serve station. The restroom was huge but there was a puddle of water right under the soap dispenser. Also if you need paper towels to dry your hands, they are located next to the door and away from the sink. Because of this, you can see trails of water on the ground. Overall, this is a nice looking coffee shop. The pastries are quite pricey though. There are no prices listed for them on their display case. Pro-tip: taste your drink before leaving to make sure if you want it sweeter, that you add condensed milk or sugar syrup that's available at the counter before you head out. Wife wanted Vietnamese coffee so we finally had a reason to get to EM coffee. The coffee comes out not overly sweet, they have a condensed milk squeeze bottle and sugar water squeeze bottle at the straw and napkin table. My wife did not let me put some in before we left, and I sadly found out that it's not extremely sweet by default which is probably a good thing for most people. Very modern hip hang out spot with plenty of bright lighting. Drinks were fairly priced and came out quickly Wife got the banana toffee latte and I got the pandan coconut latte. Both drink had subtle notes of flavor from their respective names ingredients. For how vibrant the pandan foam was on there shoulde be a deeper flavor. I recently came to this adorable coffee shop with some friends and I am so glad to have tried a new (to me) spot. The inside of this shop is beautiful, it's simple and bright, there is a decent amount of table and bar seating, and a very large menu with amazing drinks. My friends and I tried the Tiramisu matcha, Egg brûlée cream coffee, Banana toffee coffee, White truffle tiramisu cream coffee, and a Coconut pastry. The workers were very busy with lots of orders but the service was great. They were nice and helpful, and our drinks came out quickly. The drinks tasted high quality, were strong, looked beautiful, and had great flavors. I loved my white truffle latte and my friend's tiramisu matcha. I drank mine so quickly the ice didn't have a chance to melt. I definitely want to come back and try the other flavors. The price is average/slightly above average from other cafes, but I think this is because of the quality and uniqueness of the drinks. Lovely cafe for matcha, coffee, and pastries! It gets pretty crowded on Saturdays, but it's a nice to sit and chat. The Matcha drinks are not heavily sweetened, so you can add cane sugar or condensed milk at the self serve area. The co-owner is super friendly and their staff are efficient. I love the The Em Experience Flight Tasting Set. You can choose any drinks from the menu. For those sensitive to caffeine, you get to try coffee without committing to the full cup (two of their flight cups are their one cup). I would recommend sharing with a friend - it's more than you think. And the coffee/caffeine is STRONG, but you keep on drinking because it's sweet and good (just be careful if you are caffeine sensitive). As of April 2026, it might not be easy to study here due to limited seating on weekends around 2pm. Outlets are accessible and parking is easy. Also, great customer service and vibe. read more

I tried their salt bread...when I was in Korea in Feb 2026, I ate salt bread everyday. I was charged $5 for 1 bread which tasted good and it bright me back to Korea. However, the salt bread does not have any special ingredient, and the only difference is the name. IMO it was a very expensive piece of bread. I don't think I will get this again from this place. Recently paid Em Coffee house a visit and I left with hopes that they'll be here to stay! Em translates to many things in Vietnamese. It can either mean younger sibling, or a pet name used typically by a woman to address her significant other. Cute, right? Em is conveniently located across the street from the target shopping center and has chipotle, Jamba Juice, and dollar tree for neighbors. We came around mid afternoon and noticed how busy it was. TLDR - it's mid Em has taken over the spot of unsuccessful coffee/tea/boba shops that have been here before. I'm hoping they stay and be successful at this location. It was busy when we got here but the line to order moved quickly and the drinks were coming out fast as well. Inside layout hasn't really changed and can become kind of loud and crowded. We got the pandan coconut latte and the strawberry matcha. The pandan didn't really have the flavor of pandan or coconut and just tasted like bitter coffee where the coffee bean were hit with too hot of a water temp. I was really disappointed in the drink because are there so many places here in Elk Grove that offer something similar that tastes a lot better so I hoped this could be even better. The strawberry matcha tasted a bit watered down as well. The drinks, besides the cold brew, start at $7.25 for a one size 16oz drink so it's a bit steep for us. There looked to be some training going on, how to keep the space clean in between customers. This coffee shop is beautifully decorated and would be such a great place for coffee dates or to study! Let's get to the drinks...I am a coffee lover. Pandan coconut latte: 10/10 it was nutty, the toasted coconuts added a great texture, the Pandan cream cut through the strong coffee & it was just heavenly Banana toffee latte: 10/10 this one has a stronger coffee taste, but the aftertaste of banana and toffee is pleasant. Coconut matcha blast: 10/10 I am not a matcha lover, but this one surprised me. I kept going in for more. It's like a matcha Frappuccino if you will. It's a delicious treat! *FYI almond milk sub is $1 more* 10/10 and five stars. I was VERY impressed by the drinks. definitely prefer this over your Starbucks and Dutch bros. The coconut Pandan cookie was to die for. I HAVE to learn a copy cat recipe. I loved how it had crispy edges but was still a moist chewy cookie. 10/10 The coconut Pandan roll was also a wonderful play on your traditional cinnamon roll. 8.5/10...it needed more glaze. When I got to the part of the roll where the glaze was, it was soooo delicious! Had it had enough glaze it would be great from start to finish. RUN & TRY THIS PLACE! I got the marble coffe at Em Coffee House. It was unfortunately way too strong and made me physically unwell for a day. This may be a pro or con depending on how much you like caffeine! I drink a cup of coffee a day if you want to compare. The taste was pretty good fwiw. The place itself is very nice. They even have an area that seems to encourage laptops! Too bad I can't drink their drinks or I would love to work out of here! read more

Tried their matcha einspanner and the banana toffee latte, both were really good! I especially loved the toffee bits in the banana toffee latte. The banana flavor is pretty subtle, but the toffee really makes the drink. It's an extra $1 for oat milk, so the two drinks came out to around $19 . There were only about 3 people ahead of me when I ordered, but by the time I left, the line was out the door. I liked the drinks, but with so many other matcha/coffee spots around now, I don't think it's worth waiting if it's super busy. read more

Love Em Coffee House! I'm from San Diego so it was quite exciting seeing an SD viet coffee house pop up in Elk Grove! The aesthetic of this coffeeshop is just SPOT on. Great lighting, lots of plants, lots of seating (could be a good spot to study) but keep in mind that this spot gets busy!! It's been quite busy every single time I've stopped by! Coffee: I love their Banana Toffee vietnamese coffee & the White Chocolate! The drinks have their distinct flavors but the vietnamese coffee flavor is strong and the flavor doesn't overpower it. Such good good quality. I have yet to try their matcha drinks next time I'm back! Parking was easy since it's in a shopping center. Service as quick and the workers are hard working and friendly. They also service some small bites and a unique thing was that they had vietnamese yogurt for purchase. If you're vietnamese, you know you don't see that very often! Highly recommending checking out this coffee shop! You won't regret it! read more

Went on soft opening day on the 8th. We got there just before 8am and already there was a huge line. We waited for almost 2 hours till we were finally able to place our order. We ordered the egg brûlée coffee and banana toffee latte. We both enjoyed the banana toffee latte (rating: 4/5) the most and would recommend it! Love the bits of toffee in it. The egg brûlée coffee (rating: 3.5/5) was topped with a biscoff cookie, which we both thought would have been better if it was crushed over top and the egg cream was a bit too thick for my liking. I prefer to sip directly from the cup and it was difficult to do. We saw they had salt bread so had to order one. We got the matcha salt bread, which was soft on the inside and best warmed up. read more
