6 girls. 110 wings. Demolished in 20 minutes.

The daily specials are what's going to keep me coming back. 33 cent wings on Tuesdays, $6 ribs and fries on Fridays, $5.50 steak and fries on Sundays. Each day of the week has 3 or 4 special deals that make coming to Elwood's SO worth it. We were seated promptly, and our waitress managed not to look too astonished when 6 girls ordered 110 wings right off the bat. We finished all of them within 20 minutes, and had the people around us applauding. What an experience.

A nice and surprisingly affordable pub in the middle of Kitsilano. Parking is available on the side streets. The inside is a bit on the dingy side, but this is what gives it character. The place has been around for years. There's a small patio in front as well, but large groups (5 or more) would not do too well here. The biggest thing between back then (10+ years ago) and now is the addition of daily specials. $10 AYCE fish and chips? Sold. The tricky part about this deal, however, is that they pile on the fries, and one cannot order more food without finishing the entire previous plate. While it probably stops people from going too crazy on the fish, the downside is that piles of fries get wasted. Not sure why restaurants do this. Very wasteful. Subtract 1 star for this. With that said, the food was of decent quality. Other specials worth mentioning including $1 oysters (Fridays) and $6 ribs and fries (Saturdays). I'll be back to try these. One last thing - this place is open late (0200 everyday). Beautiful.

Good and affordable bar in Kits! I've been to Elwood's a few times usually when I have friends who don't want to venture out too far from UBC. It's definitely one of the more affordable places in Kits with good daily specials. The place itself isn't huge, so I would recommend coming a little bit earlier in the evening if you want a spot since it does get pretty busy (and you have a large group). I will agree with others that the service is a bit spotty and slow (it's a pretty no frills experience). You'll pretty much always be waiting, even if it's something as simple as getting a glass of water. But given the cheap prices I try not to expect too much on the service side. Best deal I've had so far is definitely the Sunday special - the steak and fries (you can add other things such as shrimp for an extra fee). Great portion, super delish! Overall, there's room to grow but if you're looking for some solid cheap pub food in the otherwise already expensive Kits, then you've found the right place.

After a hard day's work on a Friday afternoon my coworker and I decided to try this place out. Since this was our last stop for dropping off their legs of beer. Coworker had the beef dip I had the rib and fries and we shared 6 oysters on a half shell. I would absolutely recommend any of these dishes. Everything we ate was either fall of the bone tender or fresh like the west ocean. Ashley our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and informative with a great smile. This is definitely a watering hole I would come back to for a the warm ambiance and tasty treats. Price vs Portion wise. Decent size portion of food for the price. Pretty much they have a special for each day of the week. Gonna come back Thursday for the $15 ayce fish and chips and Sunday for the $6 6oz steak and fries. Keep up the good work guys!

Huge oysters for buck a shuck on Fridays

When in Kits this is the only place I don't mind coming back to post-undergrad UBC days. Great specials, solid beer. I would indulge in the sketchy and generous buck a shuck offer on Fridays. I like it, but also cross my fingers that I won't get sick.

Elwoods is my favorite last stop before home as the bar stays open until about 2am every night. I'll attribute it to listening to Hayden's Elk Lake Serenade album too many times: I've developed a keen bias for anything that reminds me of a woodsy cabin. It's unfortunate the patio can't be open later than 11pm although I love when the staff tries to corral people inside the tiny bar and close the garage door at the front. The salsa, however, is pretty much purified garlic. So if you're on a date or really want to speak to any human over the next day or two, it's best to avoid it.

If you're looking for a bar, and I mean a bar, as in a neighbourhood bar and not an Earls, then this place is fantastic! First class bar environment, excellent atmosphere, and a decent craft beer selection. The staff are also fantastic. Whilst reading the chalk-board-beer-menu the barman approached me to ask of my personal beer taste. Before I knew it I was offered multiple tasters before deciding on one to buy. That's attention to detail. This was my first visit to Elwood's (is it named after Elwood Blues?) and it happened to be on $1.25 taco night. Quite simply these were the best cheap tacos I've ever had. Hell, I've paid $6 for worse tacos than these. All in all this is a fantastic REAL bar!

Came in for the 33 cent mussels and that's definitely the most I'd pay for them. Small and the broth had minimal effort put into. Also our waitresses was pretty bad. She really didnt care much about customer service. But she really perked up at the end when it came to paying the bill. Def your neighborhood dive bar you could tell by all the rips on the booth seats. The one thing I will say is they have cheap drinks. Won't be coming back.

Features bar seating, booths, comfy chairs with fireplace, and an upper level with large table seating for big groups. Had many a great night here over many years as it provided a nice respite from all the crazy nightclub activity on Granville St. Sadly, they will be closing soon and will be dearly missed. The memories of the Morrissey Pub will live on in those who frequented it, and I will cherish mine.

Firstly when we arrived nobody greeted us for I would say about 10 minutes even though the place was quite empty when we arrived, and when we finally received a table we were seated at a table that was wobbly, and the menus we received were stained and sticky, which got me immediately on edge about hygiene and made me uncomfortable. For drinks selection - nothing special that you can't get anywhere else, and the place being quite empty the vibe was quite boring too. I just felt uncomfortable being there and there isn't anything special about this pub that you can't get better anywhere else. We finished the one drink that we got and headed elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend this spot.

This corner spot is neatly tucked away with a few outdoor seating spots, but the magic in itself is inside. The mix of vintage and old glam showcases the hybrid aesthetic. Perfectly described, The Ballyhoo definitely lives up to the over-the-top decor from their food offerings and styling. I managed to find myself arriving within happy hour and was super please I was able to bring my laptop out and get some work done without it causing anyone a fuss. The server I had was super friendly and she had all the tables she was handling in good spirit. After opting for a local draft beer and some bites, I kept over hearing how delicious the mozz sticks were. Now IDK how one levels up mozzarella sticks, but these truly were some of the best I've ever had. The dipping sauce was super spicy but bearable for anyone's heat preference and the breading and cheese inside had such a burst of flavor you wanted to simply inhale them. What had me in awe though was the cheese pull game. No need to fear about them being overdone not cooked enough, these babies were cooked to perfection with the cheese literally oozing out of each bite. I saw a few plates being served around and think this spot is definitely worth exploring.
