Found this restaurant on Yelp. It's right by UCSB. The owner spoke to us for a good 10 minutes, welcoming us and telling us about the community and upcoming festivals and parades. Owner is so nice! Food is excellent! Wish I could try everything!! read more

I recently saw that this spot was serving some authentic pupusas and Mexican food so I had to give it a try. I saw that they had lunch combos so I tried their two burrito combo with rice and beans along with a soda. Their carne asada and adobada were so flavorful and juicy. Their beans however were the star of the show. With the added cheese, I could've only eaten beans that day and I would've been happy as well! I can't wait to come back again. read more

We went for lunch as a family and with my daughter's roomates. It was very good and at an excellent value for price! I think I paid about $75 for 6 lunch specials and the food was good. Sooooooo good! Found this place via Yelp as my daughter and I were hungry after a day at UCSB for family weekend. Small and cute, good outdoor seating. Friendly service. Love the vegan options, I decided on the Vegan Empi Plate. My daughter got vegetarian taquitos. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. I also got a pineapple Agua Fresca that was really good. And, our pup got to hang with us on the outdoor deck. Price is totally reasonable for the quality of food you get. Highly recommend and I will definitely be back! read more

Pretty much everything I said still stands but the service is much better! Alongside that they have fantastic lunch deals for $9.95 from 11-4. There is an additional charge for meat, $0.95 per pupusa and $1.25 per burrito. Right next to the beach and downtown IV, ample outdoor seating, etc. 5 Stars for Isla Vista, definitely worth the trip if you're in SB as the pupusa are authentic and fire. I really was excited to try the tamales from Elubias and support a small business, but sadly was disappointed with my batch. The taste of the small amount of filling was good but the tamales were primarily thick masa. Masa was eaten with the filling in balance. The picture shows all the masa picked off to get to the filling from just two tamales. Expected more for the price paid. read more

Great addition to IV!! Elubia's Kitchen is a fresh and new restaurant here focused on featuring traditional dishes from Latin America. Here you can find anything from pupusas to burritos to garnachas to dobladitas! So much variety! The restaurant is small but holds so much inside! I made a pick up order here for a pupusa plate. This comes with 2 pupusas, casamiento (rice and beans topped with cheese and sour cream), and salsas/slaw! You have the choice of 7 standards pupusas, but can upgrade to 5 specialty flavors which include meat inside. I went ahead and got the diablita (chorizo, habanero, and cheese), and adobada (pork and cheese, +$1). On the side I got all 3 salsas and their cabbage slaw. All I gotta say is WOW! This was delicious! The diablita pupusa is !SPICY! not gonna lie, but it was super flavorful. The cheese was fantastic and it was the perfect amount of chorizo. This pupusa paired perfect with their cabbage and their green salsa. The adobada was incredible. Not too salty and they do not skimp on the fillings. I mean check the pics I posted, these were so good! The adobada paired perfect with the cabbage and fuego salsa! The casamiento was great too and a perfect side to the meal. Flavorful and loved it with all the salsas!! This spot is definitely going to become one of my go-to's in IV. I feel like the restaurants around here are not even close to the level of Elubias! Definitely will have to return and try the rest of their menu!! The combo plate will be my next order for sure :) read more

Elubia's Kitchen is a great, authentic Guatemalan spot in Isla Vista. I had the pupusas and they were excellent. Fresh, flavorful, and served the right way with incredible salsa. They also have really good combo options. You can tell the food is made with care and tradition. I will also definitely be ordering some of their pickup catering options next time we have a big gathering at home - the prices are very reasonable. The best part is the family behind it. Every dish on our menu is Gluten Free & Peanuts/Nuts Free, Pupusas, Garnachas, Street Tacos, Burritos, Baleadas, Potato Taquitos. We also have Vegan Plates and Vegetarian Plates. Pupusas is our specialty. One of award winning plates is the Central American Combo. It won 1st place in the Chef Vegan Challange! Our Chili also won 1st place in the Buellton Wine and Chili Festival. Mexican Food, Guatemalan Food, Salvadoran Food, and Honduran Food. Mexican Restaurant, Salvadorian Restaurant, Guatemalan Restaurant. Elubia is a Guatemalan native who began to cook as a child in Asuncion Mita, Jutiapa, Guatemala. She helped out the corner street vendors when she was 9 years old, earning money to help her family. When she arrived in the United States, Elubia began selling food to relatives, friends, and then the public at the local soccer fields in Santa Barbara. Ruben Orozco grew up in Santa Barbara. He started working at his aunt's restaurant in Isla Vista (Lupita's Restaurant) when he was 11 years old until he graduated from UCSB.

History

Established in 2019.

It all started with a Guatemalan tamale... Elubia is from Asuncion Mita Jutiapa, Guatemala, and she learned to cook as a young girl. After coming to the U.S. about 25 years ago, she began to sell food to family and friends in Santa Barbara. One day, Ruben's co-worker Clara mentioned that she had a friend who had just bought a computer and asked if he could help her. Before Ruben could answer, Clara added that her friend is very pretty. Ruben immediately said that he would be there the same day. The friend was Elubia. After Ruben did not charge Elubia to fix her computer, she made him a Guatemalan tamale. Ruben loved it and praised Elubia's delicious food. Ruben and Elubia have been looking for an opportunity to participate in a food festival. In 2019, with the help of Mayos from Mayos Carniceria, Elubia and Ruben started Elubia's Kitchen during the 2019 Santa Barbara Spanish Fiestas.
