Would have given 5 stars, except when I didn't see the salsa cups, I used a water cup to get some salsa, which apparently they don't like. I used it all up in restaurant, I didn't waste any or take it to go, I would have used the same amount whether I used the little salsa cups vs the water cup, it was a totally honest mistake, but they charged me extra for that... I would understand if I wasted it or taken it out of restaurant but come on, I only used it in restaurant. Otherwise food was good, really good portions. read more

My husband and I came here recently and had a tasty meal. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, though I had fully intended to order something more authentic. That's what caught my eye and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I also loved the seasoned chips and fries. the portions were good, and the atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed. I had trouble with the bathroom because at first i was given the wrong code, but I wasn't sure if it was me or the code so I tried a few times until it locked me out, and then I was given the correct code but I was locked out and the employee said I had to wait a few minutes. I ended up just leaving because I wanted to get on to my next errand and I knew I could go there. Anyway, good food, polite and professional staff, clean restaurant, easy to find location, parking behind the restaurant, and fair prices. I would stop here again! read more

This is a great atmosphere for a mid day work lunch. I love all of the various meat options they offer which include cabeza and tripa! Gives me the impression that they are authentic cooks in the kitchen. It's very clean and neatly decorated. When we brought in our reservation of about 20 people they had all our tables nicely set with chips, salsa, napkins, etc. It felt well prepared. I got the taco combo (1 carnitas, 1 pollo, 1 pastor) with rice and beans and added guacamole and sour cream. All the meats were delicious and the soft corn tortillas fresh. I absolutely love the chip cup for the beans and the best part is that it's fresh! I've been to many places where the bean chip cup is not edible but this one was delicious and that's a big win to me. My one mistake was biting the pepper that came in the beans which lot my mouth on fire for 10 minutes. Do not recommend. They have great specials here each day, the service is great and the food is fresh. read more

Let me start that we wee a party of 11. Plenty of space, clean restrooms, clean tables and authentic Mexican food. HOMEMADE tortillas!!!! Tortas de milanesa, bistec de milanesa, sopes, flautas, tacos de asada, pastor, and shrimp were all delicious. They had a small selection of alcoholic beverages but the have beer, margaritas and topo chico drinks. When we visit my son at UCSB we can take him for good Mexican food. Service was good. 1 waitress but it wasn't very busy. read more

The service is also amazing and dog friendly! They had outstanding happy hour specials, a salsa bar, cold beer and tasty chips with the perfect amount of seasoning! I do have one complaint......I ran out of room to eat everything . I almost forgot, look how the beans were served! Sometimes, it's the little things, too. We are on vacation and needed something close to our hotel. It was pouring rain but Los Altos was open and had easy parking. We got seated right away and our order was placed quickly. I love the salsa bar that you can get your own salsa from. I only knocked off 1 star because they didn't have any chips left. Other than that our food was excellent. Ordered Birria de Chivo and was not satisfied. The portions of beans and rice were disappointing. The birria consomé was very thick with jalapeños and peas?? I mostly got bones and fat in my bowl. My husband and I have visited this restaurant twice and both times we left exclaiming it was the best food in town. We have had fresh seafood, burritos, salad, rice and beans and chicken fajita. Can I just say the chicken was cooked so perfectly that it was flavorful and cut like butter. Amazing. The tortillas tasted homemade. The salsa bar has delicious options and even their water has cucumber and lime in it. We watch the other plates go by to other tables and it all looks delicious. Shockingly legit. I forgot I wanted to visit this place after reading about it a year ago and just wandered in. Apparently they have seafood down. I got a fish taco, which was freaking incredible, not greasy, fresh tortilla. El Pastor taco, also great. Huarache plate... two kinds of meat. I figured that was a little bit of a gamble, but it turned out to be freaking excellent, not slimy, a perfect crunch, and perfect tanginess. So few Mexican restaurants hand make their own corn tortillas, and when they do, it's magic. The food at this restaurant is so good that you MUST try it. Drop everything and run in here. So far I've had the pollo mole plate and chile verde plate. Both were so authentic, home style tasting and excellent. My wife had a huge and delicious bowl of pozole. I can't wait to go back. I've heard the seafood is good! The staff is very friendly. My only complaint is that the place is a bit cavernous and drafty. Only go if you have LOTS of time & patience to spare. My department of 11 people went there for lunch at 11:30am on a Thursday. No one was there, so we got seated right away. Took our drink & food order quickly. We patiently waited.. But oh boy.., when the clock struck 12... and there were more people coming in... Our food order came staggering out.. orders were mixed with other customers in restaurant. Half our group got their food & was finished by the time the rest of our group got their food. Waitress ignored our calls & we had to get up to flag them down. We also had to get up to get drinks refilled at the bar. One person in our group kept getting the wrong order/food that she just decided not to eat. At the end, the waitress blamed us & told us to "call ahead next time". The problem wasn't that we didn't "call ahead", the problem was they are very disorganized & need more staff! One of my coworker said he ate there when they first opened & said the service was exactly the same: slow & unorganized. Also: forget about phone or to-go orders.. you'll be waiting a long time if there's more than 5 people inside. And double check your food to make sure it's correct. Would I go back? No. Would I recommend? No. Food was good though (the 2 stars) but not worth the headache. read more

This restaurant is close to where my co-workers and I work, and we eat here fairly often, some co-workers eat here once a week religiously, for Taco Tuesday & Burrito Wednesday! Occasionally there are days we have time to walk over and dine in and we've almost always had a pleasant experience. One day we didn't. Our orders were wrong and a a staff member was not very receptive. But! After speak with Ashley the manager, she was very understanding and apologetic. Rather than refund us, we decided to come back and dine in the restaurant. We have to say we were extremely pleased with the food and service. I was able to speak with Ashley today, and she remembered our conversation and took care of us. We were not only very happy with the food, but we were over the moon with the level of service we received. A big thanks to Ashley and to the rest of the staff. Ambiance and service is good. Loved the shrimp soup they served us. Shrimp diablas was spicy but good. Great and refreshing aguas frescas, they have a good portion too. The food itself was amazing. However the service was less than stellar. We ordered two enchiladas- one red and green. We got a mole one and a green one. To fix the problem the server asked if we wanted another one instead- this time she asked us again and we said "the Green was so good we will just a second one." She proceeded to bring out a red one. I also got a side of French fries that didn't appear. That being said it's clearly a new restaurant and it can take a while to find the right groove. The server should start writing stuff down tho. read more

This restaurant's food is simply delicious! You can see and taste the freshness of the food. I had a ceviche which is served with a salad (super fresh ingredients). My husband and I also had a garlic shrimp dish which was finger lickin' good! I haven't even mentioned the home made tortillas which were out of this world, something about the softness of the corn tortilla dough. Ashley, the server was amazing. Old fashion great customer service! Super attentive to our needs. She kept checking in on us to see if needed anything, we felt bad because we kept ordering things but she complied with a smile every time, the whole time! You have to try this place. Everything about the food at this restaurant is1st rate. I also have the best Michelada I've ever had. The service was very good, including a complementary shrimp soup, which was delicious. The only downside is the interior is the same as the previous restaurant. Not as comfortable as I would like, and I would suggest redoing it.
