They have great proportions of egg, cheese, bacon, chorizo, potatoes, and all that jazz. I think they have some of the best breakfast tacos I have had in town. I have had them a few times now. Yesterday, I went to Smokey Mo's for dinner because I wanted a baked potato desperately. I walked inside with only a few other people eating and no line. I ordered a chopped brisket baked potato with all the fixings, with an individual sized side of their pinto beans and a regular drink. They have plenty of drink options from bottled beverages, alcoholic beverages, and their Pepsi fountain drinks. They also have a section to serve yourself with pickles, onions, lemons, and peppers. It was only a few minutes before I got my meal, and the baked potato was excellent. I ate it as quickly as I could for recently having my wisdom teeth removed. It is a pretty large potato, and it was able to fill a hungry guy like myself up pretty well. The chopped brisket was plentiful and was quite savory. I missed brisket. As I finished my meal, I went to get a refill of my tea, and they had already removed the teas from their fountain drink area. There were still other customers inside besides me, and they were still open for another 40 minutes, so that was a little disappointing, but it did not really make or break the visit. BBQ Fiends is a food truck in Hutto that recently received an honorable mention from Texas Monthly, so it immediately moved to the top of my list. On an early Saturday morning, I stopped by Adam Orgain Park for the Catfish Derby. When that wrapped up, I parked at Rockabilly Brewing and was third or fourth in line at BBQ Fiends just before they opened. I think the best way to judge BBQ is by trying the brisket, pork ribs, and whatever sausage includes cheese, jalapeño, or chorizo. Their Texas Trinity plate, priced at $33, covered all three and came with one side. I went with the street corn. DANG. This holds up against some of the best BBQ I've had in Austin. If they keep up this quality, I can easily see them cracking the Top 50 list. The brisket was juicy, just like it should be. The sausage was bold and flavorful without being overly spicy. The ribs had a sweet, candied flavor. They were probably the least strong of the three, but still very good. The street corn was a standout and might be my favorite version I've had anywhere. We went yesterday afternoon and its a really nice property with tons of space. They have a cool stage area, a playground, several tables near the bar with view of the tv and some open inside space next to cornhole. I want to say they had about 8 of other breweries beers on tap (real ale bock and Pinthouse Scorpion Disco are the two I remember) and then they also had cocktails and 2 of their own beers: an amber, and then what I got: the tangerine cream ale. I thought it was pretty good which was surprising as usually, new breweries take a bit to get things figured out. It would be a solid beer for a warm day. The bartender was friendly and they also had a bbq truck on site that smelled delicious but we didn't have time to check-out this time. The only negative I'd say is there is zero inside space with A/C, its all open air. That's not a dealbreaker for me but as its only going to get even hotter, I'm curious how it will impact their business.
