We're out of towners from Houston, and somehow craved Filipino food. So when we were in Austin, I…read morewasn't sure what to expect. This place happened to be just a few minutes from our hotel and I'm really glad we gave it a shot. First off, it's very mom-and-pop -- no frills, straight to the point, and focused on the food. I did think it was interesting that they also operate as a Chinese restaurant, but honestly, it's probably a smart move given the area. More ways to bring people in the door. The staff were incredibly friendly. It genuinely felt like being back in the Philippines. They were also super accommodating with our toddler, which always earns bonus points from me. We ordered the pansit, sizzling sisig, and sizzling chicken BBQ and all three were delicious. The pansit was savory and loaded with veggies and shrimp. The sisig was nicely peppery with just the right amount of spice. The sizzling chicken BBQ was such a great twist on the classic -- I might actually prefer it this way over skewers. It was easier to eat and came with extra sauce to drizzle over rice. Even though we were stuffed and already had to-go boxes, we couldn't skip halo-halo. It was the perfect ending -- refreshing, sweet, and exactly what we needed. If I lived here, I'd honestly be a regular. If you're looking for solid Filipino food in Austin, this is definitely a spot to check out.

It's a nice and hefty portion and also comes with either steamed or fried rice. I was a little disappointed that they ran out of halo halo the last time I went - I really enjoyed it the one time I tried it and clearly it's popular if it ran out. Service is extremely friendly upon entering and throughout the meal. The food came out quick and piping hot, and they were ready with the to-go containers for our leftovers. Inside is a cozy feel and we were seated at a half booth table. The location itself is located in a plaza and parking was not an issue either time I went.

Beef Kare-Kare with tripe. The tripe is ok but was expecting the honeycomb variety so you can save some money by omitting it.

Our family has deep ties to Guam as my mom is from there, and Hawaii as my dad was stationed there for many years in the air force and I was born there! I also grew up in California where access to Hawaiian / Pacific Islander food and culture is everywhere. Needless to say I was blown away! There are very few places to order a mixed plate here in Austin and this tasted the closest I've had to home in a long time. We ordered the Ohana Platter, Garlic Butter Shrimp Plate, Maui Kalbi Ribs, and Spam Musubi. Everything was hot and delicious and so so so flavorful. The finedene was an amazing touch. I wish I had gotten a chance to order a plate of red rice to complete my craving but I will definitely be back to order a catering pan of it! Everything was so great, if yall have never been you have to give them a shot -- you will not be disappointed. Mahalo Pacific Flame!

There's plenty of outdoor seating but little shade, so you decide if you want to brave the heat or eat in your car. The plate lunch is a classic and they do it proud here. It typically consists of a protein, a few scoops of rice and macaroni salad. I went with the Huli Huli chicken, which is more or less grilled teriyaki cooked with extra pineapple tang. They give a good amount of meat for the price. Food takes a bit of time but I appreciate them cooking it fresh. They got other classics like loco moco too!

THE BLACK AND WHITE: When I say Vietnamese-style, it's only because most of the internal signage is in vietnamese. It has every asian countries ingredients from China/Korea/Vietnam to The Philippines and indonesia. You can find some really good pricing here on those staples. Fresh produce aisle is a bit limiting. Pretty big seafood area and meat. Walking to your far left side are all the kitchen toolware if you want to level up your kitchen game. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Always enjoy my time here at MT supermarket. Lots of ingredients you won't find at a 99 Ranch or H Mart.

They even have alcohol, dishes, candles, other houseware supplies, and some basic American products. Prices area generally competitive, some much better than others. My main complaint is that it can be overwhelming, especially when you're trying to find one specific thing. The other issue is that so many items have mislabeled prices or none at all. This can be challenging when you're trying to stay in budget while faced with more options that you can imagine. Also, fresh prepared items don't necessarily have their ingredients listed which can be scary for less adventurous eaters. The store is generally easy to navigate even through some cluttered set ups.
