So every now and then we have food trucks come to our apartment complex, and usually I don't try them because nothing stands out to me per se. However when you talk about Caribbean, Jamaican, or any other ethnic food, I'm always looking for some good spots for this type of cuisine. That being said, I'm glad I tried this food truck tonight. It hit the spot, and actually was flavorful and spicy but not too spicy. It was "just right" as Goldilocks would say. They have options ranging from tacos, to various appetizers or smaller plates, to a Rasta Pasta with your choice of protein. I'd seen the pasta before so that's what I decided to try and man I'm glad I did. For starters the portion was AMAZING for a food truck, but also, for $12. I wasn't expecting that to be honest.....most food trucks are pricey and their portions are small. This pasta gave me enough for leftovers. (Look at the picture). It was so flavorful despite it being pasta, and the jerk chicken I got on top, had just the right amount of spice to satisfy. It was creamy, spicy, and delicious! If you get a chance, definitely check them out! I'll try them again next time for the tacos! The owner and her crew are friendly as well.

What an amazing gem of a find! Their flavors are bold and delicious. Your food is made to order and comes out piping hot. You can tell a lot of love goes into their dishes just by the preparation and presentation and of course the flavors are amazing! Thank you, Tatiana!

Have you had Caribbean food before? At Mix'T you'll find inspiration from countries such as Haiti, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and many more. With a lot of different cultures, you'll find a lot of fun dishes to explore such as: - Caribbean Tacos: here you'll find a fun twist on tacos. You have the choice of: Jerk Chicken, Griot (a Haitian dish made of pork shoulder marinated in citrus, which is braised, then fried), and Island Beef (Caribbean seasoned ground beef). My favorite was probably the Griot! Never had that before. (3 for $13) - 4/5 - Rasta Pasta: a creamy, jerk-based pasta with a pepper and onion medley. Great portion for the price you pay and damn, this thing is full of flavor! ($8) - 4.5/5 - Mix'T Fries: you can get jerk chicken or island beef as the protein and then the fries are loaded with cheese, avocado, and cilantro. Do I need to say more? ($10) - 4.25/5 - Chicken wingz & tingz: they have a few flavors to choose from and I got Lemon Pepper and Elote. Lemon Pepper is a classic, you can't go wrong - 4/5. I'm not the biggest enthusiast of this flavor in general since they can be overly citrusy, but this was well balanced with smokiness. The Elote was amazing, 4.75/5! Good flavors of creamy, herbal, and smokiness. Def one of the top wing sauces I've had in town. (Out of stock for a little while due to the wing shortage) - Ti Bob Burger: pretty damn good burger if you ask me: pepper jack cheese, caramelized onions, sweet plantains, garlic mayo, avocado - all on a brioche bun? Yes!! ($12) - 4.5/5 - Mystery Lemonade: I have no clue what's in it, but it has two sweet flavors added in with the lemonade base and I am HERE for it! One of the top lemonades I've had in town! ($4) - 5/5 All in all, the food is overall amazing. Lots of flavor with each dish, a great variety of options to choose form, and the prices are pretty fair for what you get. The service is very kind and you can tell they care a lot about showcasing the Caribbean culture. Highly satisfied! I give them a 4.5/5. Definitely worth checking out. They move locations often, so check their page to see where they'll be at!

Wow! I recently visited Austin from Richmond, Va area and a great friend of mine recommended we try out Mix'T Caribbean Blends. The food was amazing. The staff was super nice and very lively. Food: I went with my Dad to try the Jerk Fried Fish but ended up also ordering the Bumba Burger and Boulette & Bannan. These were some of the the most flavorful and creative menu items I have ever had from a food truck. Great taste and presentation! The Jerk Fried Fish was cooked to perfection and the mango coleslaw added just the right balance. The Bumba Burger was juicy and rich in flavor. The the taste and the texture of the lightly toasted brioche bun is my all time favorite burger combinations and elevated this burger to another level! The Bannan was lightly fried to perfection and when mixed with the Boulette meatballs it's a real treat! Drinks: Washing it all down with a homemade lemonade polished off the entire meal. My Dad had the Mango Lemonade and said that it was made perfectly. Amazing taste and the presentation looked great! Recommendation: Overall I would definitely recommend Mix'T Caribbean Blends! We will definitely be back! Food was fresh and delicious. Full, satisfied, and didn't break the bank to enjoy a flavorful meal. In addition I'm glad that during this pandemic I can easily order online and pickup my food safely.

This is the best spot EVER. The Rasta pasta with chicken has to be the best meal ever I've ever had. If I could, I'd eat it daily. Also, the Ti Bob burger, Boulette and Bannan, and Griot Taco are amazing!! The owner and staff are phenomenal, and always go out of their way to make sure that your experience and food is great. Highly recommend swinging by their food truck.

The Suya was a off the menu item and an award winning dish. The cabbage was so flavorful. The desserts were 100/10. The watermelon and papaya salad I can eat EVERYDAY!! The ceviche is so unique. So this fit the vibes and aesthetics for a nice sit down Caribbean meal for date night, celebration, or just because. However, two things: they had "valet" for a man to back our car into a spot which we could've done & then tip as you like. It felt very odd and unsure of how much to tip despite the quick "put it in reverse" idk if this is just a thing here in Austin. But he was pushing is QR code for Venmo the whole experience. 2nd, it was way too loud and dark to see or even have a convo. Loud music and all the conversations blurred each other out. Man I wanted to get out of there ! As for food, they did ask if we were okay with spicy but man all the food was spicy that it masked all the other flavors. Super cool to incorporate suya as we've been watching and hearing about it in food shows but I don't think it was used in a way to complement the food. It was just like bam I am suya ! My fave was the beef patties. The tapas are very small. Smaller than photo size prob so make sure to order enough or asks your server. The chicken was very hefty and was given bbq sauce to help mild the spice. Nice to have but it did not pair well with the Caribbean flavors. The price is decent compared to what we have but compared to Austin prices a bit higher. All and all looks cool, nice place to experience maybe once, but a pass for us next time.

I went for a regular oxtail plate with gungo rice and plantains. Overall I liked it! The oxtail was tender and delicious, the sauce had a nice mix of smoke, sweetness, and a tiny bit of heat. For a regular (as opposed to their large) size plate it felt like a good amount of oxtail I thought based on the description the gungo rice would have a more prominent coconut taste but it was pretty typical Jamaican peas and rice. The star of the plate was the oxtail and the sides don't really factor into my review unless it really stands out in one direction or the other Overall I'd definitely recommend giving them a try and will absolutely be back here to try more of their menu

We decided to eat at Bikkle, close to the University of Texas at Austin on Guadalupe Street. Bikkle is known for its authentic Jamaican cuisine such as jerk chicken, oxtails (hard to find anywhere anymore) and curry goat. Between the four of us, we ordered jerk chicken, curry goat, and curry chicken. We all went for red beans and rice with cabbage. All dishes came with plantain, which is one of my favorites. Having been to Jamaica a couple of times, I can report out that this food is authentic! The flavors were swirls of goodness in every bite. The food was also warm when served. We also ordered jerk chicken egg rolls. Just think about that concept for a minute. The jerk chicken egg rolls were exceptionally good. The highlight for me was the curry goat. First, you do not find goats on many menus. The curry goat was tender and oh so flavorful. Some pieces had associated fat. All in all, everyone was happy with their meals. During our dinner, only one person was serving customers. She was super friendly and personable. I must think she was overworked as the stream of customers came in. Now for the décor...if you walked in and looked only at the counter, you would have thought it was a "to go" restaurant only as many "to go" containers were stacked high on the counter. Only one other couple sat down and ate in the restaurants and most folks were picking up their food to go. Even the people eating inside the restaurant were served in "to go" containers. The inside is minimalist with no ornate furnishings and yellow walls, projecting a Caribbean feel. Recommend adding a bit more Jamaican artifacts such palm trees, Jamaican flag, surfboard, etc. It would be a great spot for students, friend meet ups and a causal date night... Bikkle Jamaican Restaurant it was great and represented authentic Jamaican food well! We definitely will be returning.
