Deciding to attend the kid's fishing derby wound up being quite the catch (wink). The pond was stocked with walleye, and normally contains bass, blue gills, koi fish, etc. The rules were that the biggest fish caught by a kid wins the tournament. With the biggest fish caught (twice) being an 18" large mouth bass, needless to say those kids did not flounder (wink).
If a fun, free day of fishing with your kids or grandkids isn't enticing enough, the Club also cooked up hot dogs, french fries and hamburgers, gave every kid a very generous door prize and awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers trophies. Not too bad for free, and these conditions will bring me back next year, hook, line and sinker (wink).

Not only did he catch his first fish solo here years ago, but now he can claim the fame of the only kid to catch a 14.5 ft. Hammerhead Shark. Well, no, but when he really wanted to win the tournament, I told the judges he caught that fish and then winked at him with a smile. The judges had a good laugh, but later my son said to me, "Dad, do you think they believed you about me catching a shark". They don't have to, kid, every fisherman tells tall tales. Like the fish they pretend to catch, fisherman too often fall for the bait (wink). read more
