The Buffalo Yacht Club is at the foot of Porter Avenue, just before you'd cross the Peace Bridge into Canada. We had a family dinner and lunch the next day while overlooking the harbor and waterway that divides Canada from the US. Yes, that bank of land? That's Canada right there. I giggle because growing up in Buffalo, many of us never thought of Canada as a foreign country; we thought of it as "the next town over." In these times, the club is a little short-staffed; that just gave us more time to mix and mingle and enjoy the view. One of the oldest yacht clubs in the country, founded when Lincoln was President, pretty cool.

Consisting of a front room with large wooden bar, there is a single washroom just off the back. A short hall takes you to the bar dining room that further leads to the kitchen. As with most old buildings of this nature the kitchen is shared with the living space above which is where the owner resides. Don't be surprised when the loveable Luca (husky) comes downstairs for a visit. This gentle giant just wants some pats.
