The food and beverage selections are good, service has been friendly, the lanes are in good working order, the ball selection is varied and solid...I have not an overtly bad thing to say about the place. I even like the cornball animations that you pose for when you begin so that they get worked into the graphics between rolls. Except this: everything costs like 30% more than at Classic Lanes, the more hardscrabble and bare-bones competition that's like a mile away, which, despite being cheaper, has, for my money, better food, along with about a kazillion vegan options, which is pretty progresssive for a bowling alley, and which Manor Lanes does not have. (Full disclosure: I'm in an informal monthly bowling group that alternates between these two bowling alleys and we have some internal dissension about which one is better, although we all agree that they are both good.) So, if you told me that I could only bowl at Manor Lanes, I'd really be fine with it. It's a nice place, and it absolutely blows away the shitty, overpriced, gimmicky AMF lanes in town. I just might prefer its slightly more blue-collar competition.

He always acts annoyed, has 0 customer service, and hobbles around miserable because he has a bad back. I get it. I do too. 2 herniated discs yet I worked in customer service for years and never treated customers with attitude and be condescending. As soon as we walked in he said, "Yeah. Can't bowl for long, folks. League bowling tonight." No "How are you? Welcome! What can I help you with." He was quickly corrected by a woman and then he said begrudgingly, "Oh...we already oiled the lanes. I forgot. You can stay." Nice. Then we had a machine that wouldn't reset our names and scores because it was acting wonky. My husband went up. He told him, "Hit reset." So...we did. 3x. No dice. So I went up. He then threw up his hands exasperated, clearly annoyed, and said very loudly & slowly, "HIT RESET" as if I was deaf, dumb, and 4. I said, "I did. THREE TIMES." God forbid you come over and actually HELP even though he wasn't busy at all. You're in pain? Delegate. Take off or man up. Don't be a tool...

It's bowling. It's every Wednesday night for - at some moments - too many weeks. But it breaks up…read morethe week nicely. Do some bowling Wednesday , work two more days and boom it's the weekend. But as much as bowling helps move the week along. It has also taught me to control my temper and not kick, scream profanity or get into fights and throw things. It's bowling. It's a league that is named after a close friend of my neighbor who was also a person that many people on the league knew. My teammates are each a story in themselves. Representing Buffalo. The best neighbors anyone could ever hope for. We laugh - we have a few drinks- I try to bowl, I don't understand the handicap thing and i support my team with more enthusiasm then number of pins I knock down. So if it's only bowling why is it five stars? Simple - cosmetically- the facility is in the process of being upgraded with a focus around the bar area. Sue has brought her touch that in time will work it's way everywhere that it can with out interfering with the fact that it's bowling. It's not the IMAX not a roller coaster. You don't wear it on your face or have to plug it in. It's bowling. But the food. As the name of the business changed so did the cook, so did the menu, and so did the opportunity to try some very tasty staples along with some excellent variations of fan favorites. The fried Bologna is simple but done right. Like it's supposed to be. Quesadillas are enough for everyone to get a piece - and they are not only large but good. Everything always tastes fresh. It's a total mind melt when you realize that this is coming from a bowling alley. Had a Ruben. Home run. I mean really good. There are these house made chips- they are great. Thin but not drowning in oil- try the barbecue ones. The wings are a consistent solid 10 outta 10. My teammates and I have done our fair share of sauces but we keep coming back to the sweet chili. Wings are cooked right - sized right and sauced right. Other flavors have always been good but the sweet chili is the one we agree on the most as the best. The menu says DINE in for the after 9pm deal but I have seen people picking them up so I think you can call on and get the deal. It's bowling. It's great people. It's a bar. It's some really good food. The bowling alley has recently changed hands and with a kitchen like that, bowling is a lot more fun. There's wood floor and rental shoes and oil and all those things that make bowling, bowling. Try the food.

Sometimes you get a hankering to go bowling. Sundays seem to be the day this occurs. We stopped out…read moreon a Sunday around 2 p.m. and they had open bowling. For three people, three games each and one rental of shoes, it cost about $31.00. The place has that homey Buffalo old school bowling alley feel. It's comforting. The allies were in great condition, because I bowled the best game of my life, a 182. We were given the alley right by the wall, where the door going to the back is located. An employee kept going back and forth while we were trying to bowl throughout the 3 games, and it was distracting.

Kenmore Lanes is a proper bowling alley of the old school, with a full bar and kitchen. Food is…read moregreasy but solid (love me some tots to wash down with a frosty lager), beer is sold cheap in icy buckets, and well, you go there and throw balls at pins. What else did you really expect? I've been there as a sub on Wednesdays for my friends' bowling league. The screens and lane assignments operate a little strangely, but maybe I'm just new to league rules? The wait at the bar is semi-eternal, but the bartenders warm up once you've been around a few times. The personality combo back there isn't going to be for everyone, but I've come to like the gruff old salts slinging drinks. The liquor selection is....ehhhhhh, and Guinness seems to have always run out, but, well, there is still plenty of alcohol left at any given time. What else did you really expect? People smoke in front of the doors. If being near secondhand smoke is a deal-breaker, one might wish to bowl elsewhere (although they probably smoke by the door there, too). The lanes seem to be kept in good repair and I've encountered few mechanical difficulties relative to other comparable places. I bring my own ball and shoes, so I cannot speak to that process. There is parking both beside and across from the building. Default music choices are terrible and if your table is under the speaker, it can be annoyingly loud. There's a jukebox app that lets you pick songs, though, which is pretty cool if you're motivated enough to set that kind of thing up. Maybe it's the bowling, maybe, it's the company, and maybe it's all those things, but after three games with friends and a couple of buckets of Molson, the world seems a lighter and better place. And who could really complain about that?

We are not professional bowlers by any means, but decided to get our own balls and shoes for the four times a year we currently play (with plans to increase that). Mike will push you to a heavier ball than you have in mind stating that once the holes are drilled to your span and comfort, you will be able to maintain a heavier ball and in addition, heavier balls will knock the pins around more. He pushed me into a 15 pounder; drilled the holes and off I went to the attached lanes. I'm 6'5" 210lbs and he was not even entertaining a lighter ball. Couldn't throw the ball to save my life. I guess I had become accustomed to throwing a 10 pounder without putting my thumb in the ball and imparting mass spin. Went bowling a couple of times afterwards and still just didn't feel right. Many months later, I went back to get a 10 pounder and Mike was appalled at my new decision and I had to fight tooth and nail to get him to do it. I wanted to impart mass spin with my thumb in the ball. Mike told me it would not happen and sure enough after the drilling and testing on their lanes, it was horrible (gee, I guess 30 year pro shop Mike knew what he was talking about). I then grabbed my 15 pounder and it felt great. Like a new ball. Form felt good. Bowled a 175 (as I said, I'm no pro). I guess not bowling for a bit made me forget my bad form with the alleys 10 punder. I wish I had bowled a game with my 15 pounder before insisting Mike drill me a 10 pounder. Summary... Mike knows what he is talking about. Great friendly individual. Definitely does not try to oversell. Will spend time to ensure you are happy. Kirk
