I took my car here thinking my alternator was bad luckily it was just a electrical pull I was impressed with Johnny's thoroughness he gave me the low down on everything my car needs done with it and even told me what could wait. Im planning on going back to have the axle replaced and I feel super thankful to be so close to this shop for future repaired we are taking our other car here too. After posting this review I will be calling the Better Business Bureau. PLEASE, PLEASE do not take your vehicles here. I was planning to take my car in for an oil change and to have them look at the tires (one has been leaking). The morning I went to take it in, it gave me a hard time starting so I asked them to look at that too. NOTE: I was able to drive the car in to the shop with no problem. Since break inspections are free and I had heard a bit of squeaking, I asked them to check the breaks while they had my car (a 2005 Dodge Durango). We were quoted $208 for the diagnostic, an oil change and having 4 tires sealed. The next day we were told that the truck needed $2100 put in to it. Johnny was "shocked" the brakes even work because the pads were so worn and the rotors were shot. He told us we needed battery CABLES - that BOTH of them needed to be replaced, along with the battery. They also told us that all 4 tires needed to be replaced immediately and that one would likely blow soon which would obviously be dangerous since we have a 5 month old baby we drive around in the vehicle. I called the used car dealership (Carson Cars) where I bought the vehicle 4 1/2 months ago and talked to them. They assured me that things like brakes and batteries are checked before a car is sold and offered to have their mechanics take a look at the issues and give us another quote. The quote for the repairs (including 4 new tires, just like the quote from Elliot): less than $700!! These are the lies I was told by Johnny and the other staff at Elliot that were disproven by Carson Cars' inspection: 1) "The brake pads are shot" - CRAP. They are 50% worn and do not need to be replaced until 30-35%. This means I have another 6-12 months of use. 2) "The rotors are cracked" - CRAP. They had rust built up in to them but nothing is wrong with them. 3) "The battery cables are shot and both need to be replaced" - CRAP. The battery cables are completely fine. They needed to be cleaned up and I did need a new battery but both battery cables do not go out at the same moment on a car that is 8 years old. 4) "You need 4 new tires RIGHT NOW or it isn't safe." - CRAP. I do need 4 new tires, but only the back 2 are urgent. I called Johnny after going to the service center and he tried back pedaling. He said that he never told me we needed a battery...then why is it on the quote? I am even more upset because my husband's truck "needed" $1500 worth or work there less than 2 weeks ago. Now I wonder how much of that work was actually necessary. I cannot believe Elliot Tires employs unethical people out to take money from honest customers. I am a Special Education Teacher for a Public School District. I don't have money for $2100 worth of repairs when really less than $700 is necessary. -Shellie Bittner read more

went in for last minute tire change. no complain about the work done. I don't know much about car, so I don't know. But they are super expensive, and included services without asking. Changing tires turn out to be $1057. The tires I got was $177 a piece. The last time I changed tires was $600. They also recommended me to change my front brakes. Good thing I didn't say yes. I got home and looked at the quote they gave me. It was $681. I changed brake for under $170 at my usual auto shop. Changed brake one time at a dealer, which I thought was ridiculous, for $300. When told my oil change would take an hour I walked down the road to grab a coffee, walked all the way back and my car had not even been brought back around to get looked at yet after 50 minutes. At that point I inquired to the man at the desk when they were going to take my car back around and he immediately had them bring it back. No one had mentioned anything about a wait. read more

Great shop, had an oil change done and was quickly informed that my brakes were not operating properly and one of my calipers was sticking they said they noticed during a test drive that it pulled to the side, then they took the wheels off and inspected my brakes for free. I Walked out of there with a full inspection above and beyond what I was expecting and a quote for new brakes that I couldn't beat no matter where I looked. And another side note it only took them 45 min to do all of this. These guys really go the extra mile for their customers and I'm glad that I took a chance on this shop when I did. read more

UPDATE!!! So, today I went to get my oil changed somewhere else because I did need one after a couple of road trips. So I went into another shop and they informed me that my drain plug had been stripped and that I should take it to the last person who did my oil change. So I brought it back to this place... Though they did change my oil and the drain plug for free, as well as gave me two free oil changes for the future, I have never been so disrespected by a business supervisor. He told me that it was the other place's fault for trying to take the plug out without the correct tools and that he was going to show me the new one because he didn't want me to get angry with his company if it happened again. He had a lot of attitude towards me and I did toward him because I had had nothing but awful service with this place. Rather than just helping and fixing what they broke, he gave me unbelievable disrespect. Never again will I come back to this place. They do not deserve to have my business or my money. They say that they are a small business and that they pride themselves on customer service. I find that hard to believe considering the disrespect, misinformation, and trying to jip me out of $1100 for rotates and brakes when I could get them for way less somewhere else. They look at me and think "oh it's just some girl and I'm sure she knows nothing when it comes to cars". They are wrong. If I had the time I would do all of this myself. I know what I'm talking about and I am not a 5 year old who knows nothing. Never again... Absolutely the worst service I've ever had. I went in to get my car checked out because I am going on a road trip soon. I knew I needed an oil change and they said they would check the rest of my car while doing that. They did. I talked with Mario, but he wasn't the one working on my car. He was pretty much the messenger. He told me after they had been looking at my car for an hour and a half that I needed new brakes and rotors. He said my rotors were warped and my brakes were at 2. They are 10 brand new so they were pretty worn. He quoted me $1100 to replace them and the brakes. I knew that wasn't right so I told him to just do the oil change and I was going to get a second opinion. Mario was very short and rude to me after that. He was not happy about me not trusting that I needed to spend $1100 on new brakes. I went to les schwab today and they told me that my rotors were perfect and my brakes were at 6mm. That means they were not even half way worn down. This place completely lied to me and told me that I needed to spend a ton of money for nothing. I will never go here again. Go to les schwab. If it could get a zero, or perhaps even a negative 5, that would be more appropriate. I only wish I could have read the other reviews before heading over there to have my tires installed. All they had to do was put the tires on... not rocket science. It took hours to get it done (1 hour before it even went back to the bay, another 1-2 hours before we left) They lied about the cost ("cost per tire installation" on Tirerack.com lists installation, but it's extra to get them balanced and aligned. What kind of morons would install but not balance and align brand new tires??? They started fussing under the hood (FOR TIRES???) and told us this that and the other thing needed replacing. Then, despite being given a "NO" on the "recommended work", they did it anyway and wanted to charge for it! Unkempt in appearance, dishonest in their work, and YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE THEM DO ANY KIND OF WORK ON YOUR CAR!!!! RUN, DON'T WALK. Went though emissions today, didn't pass. Given this place to go to. Took 2 hours to do diagnostics told need to replace computer which quoted 500.00 didn't include labor. Checked online computer module was 100.00. Also sitting in the waiting room they tried to talk a elderly women into a alignment for a 3 year old car that had not been in an accident, she was also told she had even wear on all tires. I don't know why this place doesn't have 5 stars!! I have to give a big shout out to Jeff. He was so friendly and so helpful!! This place is lucky to have him!!! I came here once because my tire pressure light was on and they put air in my tire, no charge and with a smile! I didn't have time to get it checked out, so I made an appointment to come back. When I did, they recalibrated the pressure in my tires, cleaned out my cabin air filter, and changed my oil. Turns out that rats made a nest in my air filter. Yuck! So they happily changed the filter, and even applied some spray to neutralize the smell. Then they showed me where to put bounce sheets in the filter so they won't come back. After reading the below reviews, I was reluctant to have my wife bring her Daughter's 05 Hyundai Accent to them. But running a business myself and having to work with yelp reviews, I understand you cannot make everyone happy every time. This visit to them found us leaving very happy. The Hyundai would not start easily, squeeling belts, running rough, bad tires and a myriad of other tiny things. We picked up a car that now runs and drives like a brand new car and we were charged a fair price for parts, labor and tires. Bernadette was very polite and professional with us. I would put zero stars if it let me. My car was running loudly and I thought it was the tires. Dropped it off to check tires and alignment. Was told that all 4 wheel bearings were shot and all needed to be replaced. Was told front two needed to be replaced urgently. They wanted $2k to replace them all and $1100 to replace the front two. I was skeptical so wanted a second opinion. I went to pick up my car and they charged me $50 for the inspection. Took my car to another mechanic who told me that rarely do the rear bearings go out and it is far fetched that they would even go out with my mileage. Turns out that only one of the wheel bearings was bad and it ended up costing less than $500 rather than the $2k that Elliott Tire quoted me. This is very bad business. I would avoid this shop. I am sad to report that I've found the mechanics and management at this location to be dishonest - at least by omission. Twice now they've failed to tell us the whole story - just enough to get us to do the repairs we needed, then once we've committed reveal the full extent of the problem bit by bit until in the end we've invested more than the cost of replacing the vehicle completely taking advantage of our situation (having towed a non-driveable car to their shop.) Once you put $1,000 into repairs its hard to say no to another $1,000 (and another and another) if the car is still dissembled in their work shop and not functioning. Later, when we told our friends that our timing belt went out they shook their heads and said that would sure cost us. But Good Year/Elliott tire had a way more positive outlook when we first brought our vehicle in saying it was possible to fix it for a much lesser amount. As mechanics, I believe they knew full well this was highly unlikely, but lead us on so we would choose to do the work vs considering replacing the vehicle which might have made more sense in our case. So $4,000 later, we have a lot of new parts in a vehicle we probably would've been better off replacing (due to age/miles.) Now, not two months later this same vehicle (2004 kia optima's) check engine light came on. We returned here only because if the work needed was related to our recent repairs it should've been under their one year warranty. After charging us $95 to read their computer code (which many auto repair shops do for free!) they told us it was the catalytic converter gone bad which they could fix for $1400. They also told us the system could catch on fire while driving if it wasn't remedied. Did they confirm their diagnosis by running other tests before stating this as fact or tell us their could be other potentially less costly issues with the same code? No! Did they tell us there are actually two catalytic converters? No! So chances are after paying for the first one to be replaced they would have broken the news about the second and charged us another $1400. Thankfully this time we got a 2nd opinion from another auto repair company who did further tests beyond reading the computer codes. We got confirmation that our converters are okay and don't need work at this time. Did I mention that they did this for free with no benefit to them? I am sad to report this about Good Year/Elliott tire on 128th in Everett. I let it go the first time they cost us $4,000 (doing valid repairs we may not have chosen to do if we'd been fully informed,) but will not fall for the same tricks twice. I wonder if they'd refund the $95 they charged us to report on the computer codes if I bring my official documentation from the other dealership saying the catalytic converters are in fact functioning within normal parameters at this time... read more

In response to the reply I received from the manager: "I assume you use an alias when doing scathing reviews." No it's not an alias and I don't see why you would post my girlfriend's name on here. The car is in her name so when we make appointments we use her name and I usually do the talking. Not that hard to deduce. "The facts are that you had tie rods that were frozen from corrosion. We soaked them with penetrating oil, as well as heated them when trying to do the alignment. When we informed you that we could try letting the penetrating oil soak in & then see if it would loosen up later, you said that you didn't have the time." This is not true. Neither I nor Amy received a call about this and no mention was ever made about allowing the fluid more time to work. The only call I received was when the tires were on and it was ready to pick up. That call went something like, "Yeah we got the tires on but we couldn't do the alignment because the tie rods are frozen and you need a new rack and pinion." I said something like "oh really? wow what's wrong with it?" And Johnny said something like, "We'll go over all that when you get here ok?" I said, "Ok we'll come pick it up." When we came to pick it up was the first time I heard anything about any penetrating fluid being used. Furthermore he said specifically that they used fluid to try to loosen it up and they couldn't so we're not going to charge you for an alignment because we couldn't do it. At NO TIME was there EVER a mention of giving the fluid time to penetrate so the alignment could be done. "At that point, we looked up the cost of replacing the tie rod ends & sleeves, & found that for a couple more hundred dollars, we could replace the whole rack & pinion assembly that was inclusive of those parts. We informed you that because your car had over 183,000 miles on it, it might be the most cost efficient replacement in the long run. It's not common place for us to estimate a complete rack & pinion assembly in the case of frozen tie rods, but it was correct for Johnny to explain the differences in cost & repair of both services based on the findings of minimal cost differences." Again, simply not true. There was no explanation of the difference in cost between tie rods ends and sleeves and the rack and pinion. I got one quote and it was for rack and pinion and not a word was said about tie rods. There was no, "hey the tie rods are this much but for a couple hundred more you can get a whole new rack and pinion." It simply did not happen. "Johnny's presentation may not be the most polished, but he surely does have the customers best interest in mind, & is a "good old boy" personality, which is recognized by many other customers in a good light." I'm sure Johnny is a really fun guy to sit around a fire drinking beer with but I stand by my statement that he is, without peer, the greasiest car person I've run across in my 27 years of driving. Telling 40-something-year-old customers to "pay attention" before going over a quote is pretty condescending and horrible service if you ask me. If I want to be talked down to like a child I'll call my mom. lol "If we had the same opportunity that Evergreen had regarding time, we would have gotten them to loosen up with the penetrating oil & been able to adjust them as well." Nope. They didn't need a lot of time. I called one day, I dropped it off the next morning (unscheduled) and they had it done in less that 2.5 hours without an appointment. You'll probably take credit for loosening them up with your penetrating fluid for Evergreen though am I right? "It's also common for a vehicle to have some oil leaks after 183,000 miles. The cost of an oil dye test is also inclusive of cleaning the oil off the motor & finding the cause of the leak." No thanks. I'll just stick with what I do now which is nothing because there is nothing wrong with it losing approximately a fourth of a quart of oil over 4,000 miles. Nice try though. it wasn't until I'd been there awhile when I realized why I haven't been there in 10 years. I called Friday set up an appointment for 10 o'clock on Saturday morning I showed up about 945. they looked in the book and told me it was going to be one hour later to replace my alternator which I supplied. I had told them the bolts were in there hard I could only get one out. they told me it would be about 2 hours so I walked home and returned two hours later just to find that my car was sitting there in the shop with nobody working on it. I've waited a half hour and then got up and went to get something to eat next door while I watched and occasionally somebody would go over to look at the car. I went back over there they told me it was going to be a while they were going to have to put the torch do it to get the bolts out. then they said they could just push it out in the parking lot and return it to its state they got it in. to make the story shorter it took them 5 & a half hours to remove two bolts change the alternator and put in 3 bolts. then they told me they should have charged me $98 an hour to get the 2 bolts out when nobody was even working on the car I'll never be back again. read more

I found this awesome place quite by accident - I was pulling into Taco Bell on 128th near I-5 in Everett to buy a Cantina Bowl but knew I needed air in my tires as my tires would screech if I pulled out of a dead stop - so I pulled into Elliott Tires and Service just next door and asked if they could just fill my tires up for me - which they quickly did (he, actually - a lovely French speaking man from Morocco). I complained that my front fender was loose and falling off and he quickly popped it back in for me - AMAZING! He asked if I get my tires rotated when I get my oil changed (my front tires were way more worn than the back) - "No" I answered... He says "well, we do that with every oil change here"... Wow, how much is that? He didn't know exactly so I pulled away full of gratitude for this business and vowed to check out their prices later. I actually needed an oil change (my "Maint Req" light was on - so I found them online and called them a few weeks later - seeing it was just $23.95 for my 2005 Toyota Corolla base model - I was lucky to get in that day at 4:00 (actually today). I was greeted by a very friendly, and very knowledgeable woman named Bernadette - she was as awesome as the Moroccan stranger I'd met weeks earlier. They did a thorough check of my systems and let me know things that would need fixing in the near future - (something other places charge $45-50 just to analyze this stuff). I wasn't pressured at all to jump on these repairs and was treated respectfully and kindly. Thanks to all of you at the Everett, WA 128th Elliott Tire and Service business! I got a coupon in ValPak for these guys, $19.99 which totalled out to $25.00 including taxes for oil change.The oil change included tire rotation and chassie lube. Called to make appt, asked how long it would take, so that I could calculate my day out. They responded that it would take half an hour to 45 minutes. That would be under ideal circumstances...in reality it took 2 hours. They didn't rotate the tires, but they told me that I need new tires. (I don't). There was no chassie lube. James is the guy who helped me, but he was abrupt and standoffish. A class in people skills might help, but probably not. The only reason why I even gave them a star, besides the fact that I had to, is because they did tell me where the oil leak came from. Although they tried fabricating another story for a service like the fact that it is leaking really bad. I have been keeping track of the oil leak in my garage. It was cheap $25, but not what they promised. I was able to find out where the oil leak is coming from, and know how to fix that myself. (Not nearly as tragic as they tried to claim). They seem to have scheduling issues, since the look on the customers faces sitting around were pretty grumpy in appearance. They were sitting there when I arrived, and still there when I left. (2+ hours). If I ever go here again, I will bring Tolstoy's War and Peace to read. read more

I scheduled an appointment for regular oil change. They offered me transmission oil flash as well (total around $250-$300) Promised 3 hours. 5 hours later, I called to find out if it is ready. With their "yes" I came, paid for service, next thing a HUGE puddle of transmission oil under the car in their parking lot. They took it back to shop, I waited another 2 hours. They found that they bend my transmission tray, so they hammered it back some how. Next day it is still leaking. Came back 2 month later for another oil change and ask to check that leak, and check engine light due to unstable RPM's. (injector problem). Also I asked to check loose steering box previously tighten by them ($56). Left the car for 2 business days. Called following Monday. They completely forgot to check that steering box and no oil change was done or check engine light problem. Their reply was: " you need new engine due to shivered metal in your engine, and we will not change your oil." and we have to reschedule you for your steering box. SERIOUSLY??? read more

I was looking for a place to get my 90k- 100k tune up done, well I found this place from a radio station "perk". I did some research and read reviews and it sounded like a good place to go, plus it was near my home and was $200 cheaper than taking it to the dealership. So I called to make an appt., the man on the phone was helpful but for some reason did not take my name, phone number or even ask what kind of car I had... I should of seen that as a sign. I had to work early so I dropped it off in the morning before it opened and during the course of the day Rey from the Everett bracnh called me at work a total of 5 times trying to get me to have additional work done. So what started out as a, $200+ tax, job was quickly turing into a $1300. So as a female I took a male friend with me to talk to Rey when I got off work. Rey proceded to put on a big show, drawing pictures and underlining words on the paperwork and circling things like I had no clue what was going on. I had done some research online after the 3rd phone call and found out they were trying to over charge me by $700, even my dealership was willing to do it cheaper then this place! When I told him that he basically told me my car was about to break down and I would never make it to this other mechanic. Well I decided to pay for what they had done and leave, was I shocked when my total was $387 for what was supposed to be $200+tax. As it turns out, per my other mechanic, all they did for my "tune up" was change the oil and oil filter and the spark plugs, they didn't even top off my fluids! Also the "work" Rey said needed to be done was just advised for that milage and nothing was wrong with my car. I could of taken it to Jiffy lube and saved myself about $200+. Not to metion the whole 45 minutes I was there talking to Rey, his mechanics from the garage would come out from the back one by one to stare at me for a minute and then go back to the back again.
