Caitlyn is worth driving from Merced to Clovis to get my hair done. She knows hair...coloring and cutting. I once heard a saying that you can tell a good haircut as to how it looks in 3 weeks. Well, my hair can go for 6 weeks and holds it's style. I used to get my hair done in Beverly Hills since I had a job there. Once I went to work with the airlines, I would fly back there from various cities to go to him. I feel this way about Caitlyn, she is that good. She has a lovely personality and is always punctual. I appreciate that she listens to me and doesn't see me as a canvas to create her latest art form (some hairdressers get that way). I love this gal and have recommended her to many. read more

I do not normally issue complaints and I have rarely done a Yelp review but I am very unhappy with the customer dis-service I received from this salon. They were friendly and very polite but the service I was given was not satisfactory or even close to what was discussed. I have dark hair and trying to go lighter which I understand is a process and maybe not instant (I have went from dark to lighter before so it isn't new to me ) however my color has changed very little to not at all and I am very upset and not satisfied. was even hesitant to call in to talk with the salon about it because I didn't want to complain and she did work on my hair for a while. However, when I called to let them know of my dissatisfaction and to see what might be offered or even discussed I was told by the receptionist after she talked to the stylist that the stylist said she told me of the process and that it won't be instant and I won't be as light as I want right away and I agree that we did speak in length about it and I showed her a picture of the color I was going for at the time we spoke before her doing anything and she said she could get it lighter for me and To a more light to medium Carmel color from where I was so I did and do understand it's a process. However, My hair should be lighter than where she got it and like I said I have went from dark to much lighter then what I got or even what I was asking for this time. My hair is still very dark and in no way a light or even Carmel color The receptionist took all of this info and said the stylist would call me back later that same day after 530. Well 2 weeks later and she has not called to even discuss this with me. I feel like maybe she was not sure she could get the color I wanted and rather than tell me that went ahead and worked on my hair and took my money anyways and for the money I spent I should expect better and worth the money If she was uncomfortable or unsure she could do it to the color I wanted or even closer then she got for me then she should have said so in the beginning because it's nearly the exact same color as when i walked in. I would have appreciated the honesty and been able to make my own decision to have her continue or not So apparently satisfaction is not a guarantee for this salon. I recently moved to Fresno. How in the world this place has good reviews is beyond me. My "stylist" argued with me about the length I wanted, she cut way more than I wanted. When I showed her the cut I wanted (a simple bob), she flat out said "ehh I don't think so". I told her I work in sales so my cut needs to be professional, she then says she thinks we should go for a "fun" cut. I told her I love my hair color(brown with natural red highlights), she then told me that I should go blonde and still pushed other colors. Don't have Amanda cut your hair. My cut is uneven and I'm terrified to go to a real salon because I know they'll say something about how strange the cut is. My cut makes me look like a crack addict, the layers are so bad and uneven! read more

I have been a AVEDA customer for over 12 years. I love the products and the concept of Aveda. I have had a hard time trying to find a Aveda store to do my hair where I was living but all in all I still use the product no matter what. I moved back to Ca after being in a very small town that doesn't have anything Aveda. My hair was high lighted with bleach hair color. I have thin hair. Doing my hair with a hard chemical did a ton of damage. Needless to say my hair breaks and frizzes a lot and I'm not happy. I started going to ELLE in June 2016. The first thing I said to the Aveda gal Lindsay is NOT to use bleach as a high light in my hair. I'm guessing she didn't write it down cause the second time I went to get my hair high lighted she used bleach. I was very upset that she did that after telling her not to. I let her continue to do my hair hoping she'd be more aware now. Fast forward to end of January when I'm seeing more and more gray. I asked if I could get a few more high lights around my face. Darn if she didn't use bleach again. I'm so done with this Aveda. I'd rather go to someone else that will listen to me then someone that doesn't. I pay way to much money to be ignored. Again I love Aveda but I do not like being treated like I'm not important enough to remember what I'm asking not to do or at least write it in the computer that you store my info in. I wish I could give this place zero stars.... I called all around because I needed my hair done for my nursing school graduation. I had a specific photo of how I wanted my hair to look as well. I didn't want anything crazy, just a simple trim and style. When I called I was quoted $45-60 for a trim and style NOT $70 that I was charged! When I arrived for my appointment I was pleasantly greeted, but my stylist was different than the one I was told over the phone. I didn't remember my stylists name but I knew it was a girl. The guy who provided my service was very nice don't get me wrong, but my hair didn't turn out ANYTHING like the photo. He advised me he was only using a light hairspray so my hair didn't get "crunchy". The curls fell out of my hair within an hour of leaving the salon. I was tempted to go back but I was on a time schedule due to my graduation. This day was a very important day to me! I wanted to look and feel beautiful and in the end I looked like someone half ass curled my hair. Did I mention that I was charged $70?? I am so disappointed and my graduation photos didn't turn out the way I had hoped. I honestly could've curled my hair better at home. Definitely a lesson learned. SO MUCH LOVE for this place after my very first visit to get my pixie cut trimmed. Delicious tea, beautiful atmosphere, lovely and very friendly staff. They so kindly did not charge me for a full cut since I just needed a trim around the nape. Just got out of a haircut from here, and I have to say the service was fantastic. The lady at the desk offered me tea upon walking in. I also noticed the furniture and decor were very modern. Was personally greeted by the hairdresser. Before getting my haircut, I was given a scalp and shoulder massage. The massage was great! There is also a massage given while they wash your hair, which also felt very relaxing. Friendly staff, great attention to detail, and was surprised the price of the haircut wasn't any higher. I love this place for many reasons. First... The first time I went to them, I called with virtually no notice and they were able to get me in, right away. I was Lindsey the very first time and then Erinn finished me up. I loved the color they were able to achieve on my very stubborn hair. Love the spa-like environment and the fact that they listen SO well to what I want and my results end up flawless. I have since been back 5-6 times for colors/highlights and cuts and have been thrilled every time. I have a daughter with very severe autism who needed to get her haircut prior to starting first grade, next week. I called the salon and explained my predicament. I knew my daughter would be difficult to achieve a cut with, knew she would be loud, etc. The person who helped me schedule the appointment went above and beyond to schedule my appointment. He took all of my information, he ended up speaking with multiple stylists about what the best plan was, etc. I fully expected him to call me back to say, "Sorry, we don't think we can accommodate your child's needs" What happened was the absolute antithesis of that. He called back with several appointment times and said that he recommended Monday's as they are slow days. My daughter "behaved" as I had expected... she wouldn't sit still, she climbed up and down from the Style chair. At one point, she was on all fours. Lindsey handled it like she was in the "Haircutting Olympics." My daughter's haircut is adorable and everyone treated us with the utmost respect and dignity. Thank you to all involved!!! read more

My hair has always been extremely long and finally decided to cut a bit off and I'm SO glad Alysson helped me! The receptionist, Amy, was so sweet and offered me water and tea upon my arrival and was so understanding when I called and told I was running late. The salon is so nice inside- music isn't too loud or too soft and all the stylists are very kind. I told Alysson I was going to be cutting quite a bit of length off and she was so great with my consultation and walking me through everything before, during and after. (I've had long hair my whole life and was a little nervous) After the MOST wonderful scalp, neck and shoulder, and hand/forearm massage, I had my hair cut (about 4-5inches), layered and styled. I don't think my hair has ever looked or felt this healthy ever- the products she used in my hair didn't weigh down my fine hair and actually added a bit of volume and shine! Molly was AMAZING! First, I was greeted with a warm welcome and offered something to drink from the receptionist. Next comes Molly! She walked over to me and greeted me instead of the normal yelling "next" or "I'm ready for you." Her massage was very relaxing. When I showed her the picture of the hair I wanted I was expecting something similar... but instead she gave me something FANTASTIC! She shaped my hair to my face and added more than I what I expected. When she washed my hair I wasn't drenched in water and my makeup remained in place. I just returned home after a lovely appointment at Elle Style Bar. Not only were they playing some of my favorite music, it's always like a vacation when I go in there - just as you would want a salon experience to be. I've seen several stylists here and today I was paired up with Mo (Moses) and what a delight!! I've asked several times for a specific blonde shade (from other stylists during the past two years) and while my hair always looks nice it has continued to be too gold for me. Today was the last time I was going to try and when I sat down to tell Mo what I wanted, he immediately got it and understood that I wanted a cool shade. He explained everything he was doing, was quick, personable and professional and the result is perfect! I FINALLY got what I was asking for. I am so thrilled!!! I went to Elle Style Bar for a color correction and cut reshaping a week after having it done at another salon where I was not at all pleased with the results. I was very honest about the reason for my needing their services when I called to schedule the appointment. The receptionist was excellent. She asked me very thoughtful questions and scheduled me with the stylist she thought would best meet my needs - and for an appropriate amount of time. Turns out she was 100% right on both counts! Stacey did an excellent job correcting my color. She listened to me, took her time, and was very professional. I am always incredibly pleased when the person providing you with a service focuses on serving you, the client. She did exactly that - not uttering a single ill word about the cut or color she was fixing - and it was a big job! She made certain I liked the finished product before she let me leave, adding a toner, and cutting texture into the blunt cut I had originally requested. Stacey is excellent at her art, incredibly pleasant, and remarkably considerate. I will absolutely return and recommend her without reservation! The salon is lovely. Aveda products abound. The reminder call and text were great. Their hours and availability are generous. Parking wasn't an issue. This is a great place to go after you've been traumatized by a not-so-great salon experience. I was a wreck walking in and at peace when I left. It's always hard to find a good salon.
