In the middle of nowhere. We were traveling back country roads from Arizona to New Mexico. This place was packed. Long wait for food. A lot of take- out orders,Flavorful ground beef tacos. I had a pork entree that was so juicy and spicy. I would recommend.

    Huevos Rancheros! Delicious!!!

I was lucky enough to wander into this gem the other day. They have a great menu but am happy that I ordered the Huevos Ranchero with the green sauce. No lying...The best I've ever had!!!

Bacon breakfast burrito. Green for him, red for me. I have been craving since CA. Did not disappoint!

Fried chicken.. and he had the burger!

Reserve is a very small town of 289 (according to 2010 census). This is the place where locals dine and pick up food. The waitress knew all the locals names and the locals knew each other. We did not feel like outsiders. Food was good and a great value. Waitress was very nice. This is a very conservative little down where the waitress and customers were not wearing masks during COVID. No alcohol here, get it at the nearby bar. The bar is actually the only place in town to purchase alcohol by the can/bottle to take out by the way. Would recommend!

Mexican food left a lot to be desired, Waitress was very rude and didn't like it if you wanted something extra, like water or coffee.

Usually don't expect much from the sides but all of it excellent. My friend had biscuits and gravy with added green chile. Said was the best she ever had. So happy to have this quality of food and service in such a setting. Can't wait to come back for Breakfast ! Thanks for the great evening !

Rick the owner, and the…read moreChef extraordinaire Amanda (his daughter) have truly set the bar high in the tiny Shangri-la that is known as Glenwood, New Mexico. Yes... you'll get a chuckle at a big picture of the Golden Girls Blanche on the wall, however having graced several Michelin Starred restaurants over the last few years (very well deserved), I've gotta just say... Wow! So, here we go. As many of you know by reading my reviews, you know that I call it straight and sometimes wayyyyy too honest. That being said... 2nd "Wow!' I was visiting my Dad for a few days and he says; why don't we head over to "Golden Girls" for breakfast. My head was still spinning, trying to figure out which time zone I was in and never doubting the wise judgement of my father Gunnar, (Maritime World Traveler) I said "sure Daddy, let's go!" What I figured was to be a simple omelet with croissant and coffee turned out to be a culinary wake up... literally... like better than any of the 32 countries I've eaten in over the last 5 years. No joke, simple, stupidly delicious and reminded me of home, like when I was a little boy and Mom was cooking, but so much better! I needed more!! So later on when Dad asked what I'd like for dinner, I questioned kinda naively... "Hey Dad, does that Golden Girls Cafe place do dinner???" Man, I wanted more of the good stuff! I had a "Broasted Chicken" dish that was so moist and perfect (way too much food) and my Dad kept it simple with a Pork Tenderloin that was mind blowingly flavorful. I had sides of Mac n' Cheese and Fried Apples and Dad had Mashed Potatoes and Corn. Dessert was ridiculously delicious.. a home made Strawberry Pie that Martha Stewart would be jealous of, fresh Whipped Cream and piping hot coffee. (yes, there were several other equally yummy options) So, the prices... uncommonly reasonable and the service was exceptional, literally like stepping back in time... Seriously friendly, genuine and made you wanna come back. I usually opt for Normas when I come to visit Glenwood, but I've gotta be honest, Golden Girls is my new Go-To hands down!! Try it out for yourself... I'm sure you'll feel the same way I do.... and btw, you're welcome lol!

When we were ready the server came over and took our order. We had to wait a bit, but when our food arrived it was amazing. My wife and I agree that this was our best meal in the week and a half we've been in Showlow. My wife had the Chicken Caprese Flatbread and loved it. I had the pulled pork sandwich. It has just enough jalapeños to add a nice flavor to the pulled pork (for those who don't like spicy, I think you'll still like this sandwich). Great place! Highly recommended! P.S. For the owners (in case you read this). When guests arrive they're handed a menu with breakfast items on one side and lunch on the other. No times are listed for when breakfast stops and lunch begins. As the host/hostess hands the menu to people it would be good if they said something like "we're currently serving breakfast or lunch. We had a question about this and I heard at least two other table who had the same question.

I also got a sugar-free Red Bull with mango syrup. I wanted the soup, but it's seasonal and doesn't start until October. The chicken bacon ranch wasn't bad, but I wasn't really blown away by it either. The pasta salad needs to be called "olive salad". There's so many olives in it, so so many! The cookie was the best part, not sure if they make them or get them from somewhere. Wish I knew where so I can order a ton of them! The Red Bull syrup wasn't bad I guess. I just wanted the Red Bull and decided to try the syrup flavor added. The young lady taking the order was very polite and patient. Nothing really caught my eye. Cool store inside though. Glad I tried it
