It's pretty tough to find nail salons that you leave consistently feeling happy with your experience. This is my fourth visit here and I'm not quite sure if I'll be back again. I come here for my pedicures and depending on who you get, you may have a great experience or a pretty terrible experience. My sister and I came in Sunday morning with an appointment made for 10:30. We were promptly seated on our arrival and that's when everything started to go downhill.
My nail technician (if you could legitimately call her a technician) asked me which pedicure I'd like to get. I opted for the basic $16 and requested to add on the callous scrub. Immediately she suggested I get the package higher which I politely declined, and restated my request. She kept saying I should get the more expensive package until I firmly stated that I didn't want it which then she finally stopped.
During the pedicure, she pulled too much skin as she was trimming the cuticles from my left second toe and so my toe started to bleed. Rather than apologizing, she just kept pinching my toe to stop the bleeding. I totally understand accidents happen and it didn't hurt too badly so I didn't say anything at this point to let her continue her job.
My sister wasn't happy with the way her polish was applied (the lady didn't attend to the sides of her nails and the top where the nail meets cuticle) but she had already moved onto another customer. I asked my lady whether there was someone who could re-do my sister's polish and she flagged over a younger guy who worked there. I explained to him my sister's request and he happily came to reapply the polish to even out the sides and the top. He was very courteous and asked my sister if she was okay with the completed job. He apologized for the job done by the previous lady and asked if there was anything else he could do to help. As this was going on, my lady was muttering under her breath, sighing loudly, jerking my feet to re-position, and I kept hearing her speaking in Vietnamese while saying the word "complaining". While she was exhibiting these behaviors and attending to my right foot, I pulled up my left foot so I could examine my toe. While I was pulling my foot up, she forcefully grabbed my foot and started yelling that she wasn't done and tried to pull my foot back down. At this point, I looked at her and said "stop", examined my toe more closely, looked at her again and said, "you cut my toe and its bleeding". She then acknowledged what she did and said sorry, but provided no other statements. After this exchange, she was providing more attention to my toes, while still continuing to sigh, mutter under her breath(albeit more quietly), and avoid any forms of social reciprocation. She finished the rest of my toes with lightning speed and then proceeded to help me with my sandals. Once my sandals were off, she walked away to the back. No other statements or apologies were provided.
The nice young man rang us up and profusely apologized, but I still was charged for full price ($16 for pedi, $6 for callous treatment, $4 for French tip, $.50 as an extra fee for using my debit card). In total, I paid $26.60 to get a crappy nail job from an unhappy lady, get cut, and walk away feeling pretty upset about my experience.
I wish I could've taken a picture of the lady that did my nails so that my fellow yelpers can avoid her at all costs. I guess I'm off in search of a better nail place around north county. read more
