The friendliness and professionalism of (Dan and his crew of experts) is by far "THE BEST" that I've encountered as a car owner here in Austin. These guys truly do have a sincere "passion" for providing the best customer service experience, as well as a love for their profession as Automotive Experts. *My power Window & power Locks needed fixing. The problem was quickly assessed, and I was told what needed to be done. These guys absolutely rock! This past summer we had a problem with the car's a/c. Instead of ripping us off for a new compressor, as they could have, they figured out that the unit had been clogged with some insects. Cleaned it out, replaced a belt. Perfect repair really inexpensively. Today we took it in for an oil change, tire rotation, and state inspection (which they sub out to their buds at Shreve Automotive). Failed the first inspection because the gas tank cap was apparently leaking. Replaced the cap and it passed with no problems. Again, they handled everything with no BS, and resulted in a *very* reasonable bill. I'm sure I don't have to tell you how important it is to find an auto shop you can trust, especially when you're new in town. They've made life-long customers out of us! read more

Brought my car in due to two cylinders misfiring. The only thing that controllers the two cylinders is a shared coil. I suggested the coil was bad when I brought my car to Elite. Turns out I was right but for some reason I had to pay for six hours of diagnosis time. I received my car back with the Check Engine light still on. I was told it was due to a seperate issue and would have to pay an additional fee for that seperate inspection. Since I was already ripped off I said forget it. Took the car home and read in the owner's manual that after a check engine light is on a fuse has to be pulled and replaced. This is suppose to be common knowledge for mechanics but Elite tried to charge me to do it. To add insult to injury the guy on the phone said I needed an oil change. For a laugh I asked how much he would charge...are you ready for this....$68.99!!! If you enjoy giving away money give this place a try! read more

This is a top notch shop that does top notch work. Friendly and knowledgeable with the latest in diagnostic equipment. They have solved several complicated issues on my vehicles. They were very helpful by giving me a ride to work and back when the job was completed. You can not find better people than Dan, Phillip and Ed to work on your car and get it fixed right! They have repair every vehicle I have owned and I have always been extremely happy with their work. They resolved a check engine light, did a brake job and a purchase inspection for me. Excellent service for the over 10 years I've used Elite. Very convenient, timely. Everything is explained well by Dan (the owner) even if you don't know that much about your vehicle. Nothing about imports is cheap, however, so expect that. Usually they get needed parts at the time needed, rather than keeping a large inventory except for oil filters. From the beginning, Elite Auto Import has served my special needs very well. It all started when I went looking on the internet for a fuse box diagram for my 1985 Alfa Romeo. In my search I found a forum that mentioned this mechanic from Elite Auto, who worked on Alfas. I called and learned that this guy was retired, but Phillip, who answers the phone as well as customer questions, went looking on the web and found a fuse box diagram for me and emailed it to me. I was not yet a customer, but he was still there to help. As it happened, he found the same diagram that I had found, and since it really didn't show me what I needed to know, I decided to take the car on in to the shop and see if they could solve my electrical problem. While I waited in the front room, I listened to Phillip on the phone with customer after customer and got a crystal clear sense that this business is honest and fair and really does have its customers' best interests in mind, especially when it comes to money. Dan, the owner and chief mechanic, isn't an Alfa specialist (he works on all kinds of vehicles), but he's quite familiar with them. He fixed my fuse box issue, which required some soldering, and ever since, I've taken my little Alfa only to him whenever it has an issue. I'd also like to give a shout out to Chris, an Elite mechanic who also offers great customer service. Thanks for fixing my side mirror! My one complaint about Elite is the shop's in North Austin, but it's well worth the drive. read more

Elite Import Auto was recommended to me by a friend and I have been getting my 1988 Alfa Romeo Spider serviced there for about 6 months and have had a great experience. These guys know their stuff, are honest, and provide great customer service. Took a truck I was looking to purchase from a dealership for a pre-purchase inspection. The inspection took maybe ~1.5 hours from the time I brought the truck in, to the time they called me and said they were finished. The entire rundown was fantastic - everything from engine and transmission condition, to basic dashboard electronics, to body and interior work. There were a few small, minor problems I had noted prior to the inspection that I was using as a gauge to see how detailed they inspected - they found every single one, and more. At the end, they asked me how much the dealership was asking for it, and told me roughly how much they thought it was worth in the condition it was currently in. I left with a print-out of everything they found, and was able to use it to further negotiate with the dealer. Customer service was also a 10/10. From the moment I walked in, Jason was super friendly and inviting, and definitely made me feel like my car was in good hands. It turned out that he owned a later version of the truck I was buying, so he gave me some anecdotal information about his transmission that the official inspection couldn't tell me. I've been looking for a new mechanic, and I definitely found where I'll be going from this point forward. read more

I took my Jaguar XF Prestige. Engine light on. They change the part that supposed was causing the light on. 1,000 dollars later the light was off. However, 20 I left the place the light was on again. Almost $300 test that was not good. This is a scam shop. My recommendation is to stay away. But if you want to loose your money and time visit the shop. read more

I have had my car in for a battery replacement, new brakes and lastly a full turbo charger replacement on my BMW 335. In all cases the price has been more then fair, in fact way less then a dealer charges while still using authentic BMW parts. The repairs were done accurately and on time. I've only dealt with them a couple of times, but both experiences were great. I have an old, odd and difficult 1982 Alfa Romeo that most garages won't touch. Joe at Elite is an Alfa specialist and was more than happy to help sort out an ignition problem. The repair came in under budget and he also sorted out a couple of related issues without tacking on additional additional hours for the jobs (some places like to charge you a block of hours per repair, so even if it takes them 2 hours to fix one issue and 10 minutes to fix something else, they're separate repairs and thus the 10 minute job is now a full hour of labor). I was also able to buy some difficult to find parts from the shop to do some work on my own. Joe was kind enough to lend me some necessary, and of course impossible to find, tools, as well as detailed instructions. My advice on mechanics is to find people who love cars. They want to see them on the road and making their drivers happy. These guys have that quality in spades. read more

No stars! Rude. Liars. We desperately needed them were told they were good and was told by an employee that they would at least look at the car today. After 2 hours they did not look at the car and finally fessed up that they could not even look at the vehicle let alone fix it. Poor business practice and the old mans a jerk. Ed + Dan are absolutely the BEST. I started taking my 2003 AUDI A4 there when it was no longer under warranty for service and soon realized how much dealerships overcharge. But not Elite! They are kind, courteous, extremely knowledgeable and above all, honest and fair. Plus, they help with tows and help set you up with Enterprise Rent-a-Car nearby, if needed. Took my Mercedes GL450 in for a noise in the front right wheel, engine air filters and an interior seat motor issue. The vehicle did not have any check engine lights on when I took it in. They did not call me, but supposedly replaced my interior and engine air filters for a total of $450. They wanted another $700+ for the seat motor that they ordered again with out my consent. When I called and found out they were in the process of charging me $1500 I told them that I did not authorize any work and not to do anything else. When I went to pick my vehicle up they proceeded to tell me that they put my original interior air filters back in the vehicle and I had a check engine light on when I brought the vehicle in and they went ahead and replaced a leaking radiator hose. This place basically charged me $360 for possible changing my engine air filters that are $40. If that is not a scam shop I don't know what is. You have been warned. My recommendation is to stay away. read more

I have a Volvo S-60 that spun a main bearing. On the advice of a friend of mine, I took my car to Elite to have the engine replaced. The guys at Elite found a used engine for $2500. The company that had the engine advertised on their website that all of their used engines have been tested and they all come with a 3 year-50,000mi "Parts & Labor". I gave the guys at Elite the go ahead and they ordered the engine. They did a great job replacing the engine and got the car back to me pretty quick. My wife and I picked up our car, paid the bill, and we were happy we were on the road again... for two days. On the second day that we had our car back, the replacement engine threw a push rod through the block and caught the main wiring harness on fire. I called a wrecker to have the car towed back to Elite. When Elite went back to the company who sold us the engine the company would not honor part of their advertised warranty. They sent another engine, but refused to pay the parts i.e. gaskets, sealants..., nor would they honor the labor part of the warranty. Elite replaced the engine again and they did not charge me one red cent for the labor on the second round. Elite honored the warranty that the company who offered the warranty would not. Look all you want, but you will not find a better mechanic shop anywhere in the Austin area than Dan, Jason, and the crew at Elite Import Auto Services. The big chain stores do not have the flexibility that a locally owned shop does and that goes for ANY business. I highly recommend Elite to anyone who needs the services of a mechanic. These guys know what they are doing, they are fair, affordable, flexible, courteous, professional, and provide top notch service to all of their customers, and Dakota greets everyone with a wagging tail and a smile. read more

The team at Elite Import Auto Service is outstanding. My car is running better than it has in years! I own a 2004 Saab 9-4 Convertible and have been looking for a Saab repair shop for about 4 years. Saab repair shops are very hard to find and most don't want the job because parts are sometimes difficult to find and must be purchased in advance. Thankfully Elite Import Auto not only works on Saabs but they really understand the cars. I needed some engine work, new tires, a control arm for the rear tires and a repair on the convertible top. Pricing was very fair and the work was completed in a couple of days. I can't say enough good things about this experience. Certainly not the case for the local Swedish dealership that wanted a $500 fee just to diagnose the problems. Elite Import Auto is my new home for my Saab that I love so much. Dan has been working on my cars for 20 years since his days at Bob Tyrone's old shop. He has always done great work at a fair price. It helps that I am a car guy, and have a pretty good understanding of how my cars work - I usually know what is involved in every job and why it costs what it does. I really do not care for the modern car dealership service experience, where you never get near the person who is actually doing the work. Dan is always happy to explain what needs doing and why, and in the few times where a problem was not quite fixed they have always stood behind their work. This is a shop who stands on the word warranty; here is the story: A few months ago, they fixed the brake lamp switch of our Porsche Boxster , then the issue came back , so we contacted them and on the spot they honored they labor and parts warranty, they replaced the switch again at no cost.
