John was a great listener and assured me they would take care of my automotive concerns. They did. Our salesperson was Dave Taub and he was courteous and understanding through our whole buying process and though I was really not completely satisfied when we left with our new car a White Soul with a Red top which is nice. It is the car that I went into the dealer to buy but it is not the car I really wanted after being shown another and I had a chance to drive it. At the time that I drove this other car is was never told that It was not in our price range. It was a Niro that was sale priced almost $4ooo below MSRP which I was thinking that this would put this car into our price range or at least close to it. Had the dealership worked with me a little more for that car I may have bought it and would be much happier, But they would not budge from their figures at all which I would have needed, but if they would have come a lot closer to the payment that I was looking for, I probably would have bought it because of the excellent gas mileage for that car. There was also some smoke and mirrors and the Soul that I bought at they quoted me one price the first time I was there and then raised the price when we returned as they told me they had quoted the wrong car and my Soul was more expensive. I do think that Dave really tried for the most part but I think that the dealership should have been more willing to work with me to get the car I then really wanted. I did enjoy working with Dave but that did not help me get the car I liked the best. Then when we went into the financing part of the deal I really felt rushed to do all the signing and did not have time to read everything. Then I was blindsided again when I was told that I would right then have to pay the first months lease payment which was never mentioned at all during the back and forth negotiations . I know that my personal finances as to payments were part of the problem and not all the dealerships doing, but had they showed a real interest t working with me on the Niro we might have been able work this out and I would be much more satisfied with the final outcome as I really loved the Niro. I really think that with the $4000 off the price of the Niro we should have been much closer to a deal. read more

Brought in my Kia Sorento after receiving a flyer in the mail saying "our used car inventory is low. Let us buy your 2015 Kia Sorento." They offered to buy my car outright at an agreed price. They signed the contract. They agreed to contact the bank that holds my loan and pay off the loan amount. Removed the license plates and took the keys. 3 days later sales manager Mike M. called and said they offered too much AFTER THE CONTRACT WAS SIGNED AND AGREED UPON. Triple check all math! We bought 2 used cars at 2 different dealers in the past 3 weeks, and the experiences could not have been more different. At Napleton, you really need to triple check all math and check every single line of the contract. We had a $2700 warranty added onto our contract without anyone discussing it with us, and the interest rate they gave us on our financing was 4 points higher than what the other dealership gave us on our other car purchase -- and this was coming from the SAME lender (BMO Harris) using the same credit rating on a car that was almost exactly the same price. In the end, I feel like the used car we bought is a good car at fair price, but that is all tainted by feeling assaulted by all the shiftiness around the financing and the attempts to inflate charges and slip extra charges in and not getting a good interest rate like we did at Rod Baker Ford. I highly recommend Rod Baker Ford in Plainfield -- a pretty big drive from Elgin, but they are very ethical people there who talk you through every single detail and don't leave you waiting for hours while they supposedly work through the deal behind closed doors. You may find decent car here, but be prepared to be extremely vigilant about the money. read more

I wish I could write the raving review for my sales guy, David Zaprev. If you HAVE to buy a car from these crooks, he is extremely honest and is always on the customer side. He went above and beyond for me - even offering to fix my experience on his own time because he felt so bad about our experience. I purchased a used 2005 Honda Odyssey with nearly 180,000 miles from them a couple of weeks ago. We came ready to pay cash and expected to be in an out fairly quickly. I am pregnant and we had our toddler and young child with us as well. We test drove the van, but I was instructed on where to drive and really didn't take it very far. After that, the van was taken away to the back and we weren't able to look at it any further. We assumed that they were probably filling it with gas, topping off the fluids, and double checking to make sure that it was in pristine condition to go home with us if we did, in fact, make the sale. We went inside and David fought for us with his superiors. They wanted nearly $5,000 for a van with scratches, dents, third row seats that didn't flip properly, destroyed floor mats that needed to be replaced, a ripped driver's seat, brakes that were close to needing to be redone, and a squeaking belt under the hood. We wanted it out the door for $4,000. They wouldn't budge below $4,900. We walked when they said they wouldn't go below $4,900. I don't think anyone even knew what was wrong with the car! One of the sales managers comes out with a printout of the KBB value. It said that we were asking far below what the vehicle was worth. We said there was no way that was accurate given the condition their asking price. The sales manager and our sales guy went back to the sales office and made another phone call. After what seemed like forever, they came back and settled for $4,600 out the door IF AND ONLY IF we agreed to leave them an "excellent review" on Yelp and Google. Sorry, I wish I could do that, but I cannot! I was informed that they couldn't process a debit card payment and that I needed to go get a check. I ran to the local currency exchange. I was gone for all of 15 minutes. When I came back, I was told that we couldn't pay for the van because someone else had gotten in front of us in my absence. We stood around waiting for almost TWO HOURS. The finance office process took maybe two minutes. I handed him the money and he had me sign a few pieces of paper. There was NO REASON why we should have been made to wait that long while they were trying to find financing for someone. The finance person could have easily stepped away for a moment to take care of us. All of that was frustrating but this is where I am infuriated. The weather took a drastic change of events during the time that we were waiting and it started snowing heavily. I was sent home, pregnant with my two kids in tow, into a blizzard with NO WORKING HEAT, wipers that needed to be replaced, tires that needed air, and no windshield washer fluid. None of this was discovered during the test drive 1. because it was such a short drive 2. it was much warmer out hours before the snow started coming down 3. any good dealership checks the tires and tops the fluids when they sell a vehicle. We reached out to David immediately and he said to come back on Monday after work. When I got home, I reran the KBB value of the van.....it came back as an average private party value of $3,611. There is no way this vehicle was ever inspected before being put up for sale. No one in service checked it before we left. When we arrived on Monday, we were not informed that their service department closes at 6 or I would have had my husband bring the van during the day that day. When we arrived, David was in a sale and we waited nearly an hour for him to come over. He then asked for the keys so HE could take a look at the van. I really, really appreciate him doing this, but I was expecting a full service team with all tools available to properly diagnose a vehicle that they clearly didn't inspect at all before putting up for sale. They performed a coolant flush but no one kept us updated on what was going on, so from where we stood it looked like the van was just sitting in the service department untouched. We were there for 2.5 hours. We weren't able to eat dinner and we left way past our kids' bedtimes. Had someone informed us of what was going on, we would have come back another time. We were told the coolant was almost empty and David had no idea how this got past inspection, however, the dealership won't do anything about it because we bought the vehicle "as is." I would understand that if everything was in safe, working condition when we purchased the vehicle but it was not. It is very disappointing to see a dealership care more about money in their pockets than about the safety of their customers! read more

If you want to pay $133 an hour for labor (brake change and oil change), then this is your place! I filled out a questionnaire online when making my appointment, explained that I need brakes replaced, oil changed, a brake light replaced, and front windshield fixed. These were all services their online scheduler told me they could do, otherwise I wouldn't have made the appointment there. I went in, had an initial inspection done, and they told me that I would also need 2 tires because they were completely bald. They gave me a quote of $800, so I said ok and had them start. About ten or fifteen minutes later, I realized that when they gave me the $800 quote, he didn't mention the windshield being fixed, which was one of the main reasons I went there. So I went to ask them about it, and was handed a sticky post-it note saying to call "this guy" and he'll do it for $350. So it wasn't included in my service. So I started to wonder what the $800 quote was for then. When everything was done, and I was paying, I noticed a written note on the final bill that said they "recommend" me getting 2 tires replaced as soon as possible. So now the tires weren't included in the service either, even though we discussed them in the quote because they were bald. On top of that, the final price went up to $890 now (no windshield replaced, no tires). I asked myself, why would it go up to $890, after they gave me the $800 quote which I agreed to so they could start the work. It's because after they told me it would be $800 for the repairs, I gave them a 10% off coupon that I got from their website. So really, they didn't honor the coupon which brought me there and instead raised the quote just enough to cover the 10% off coupon. I can't imagine I'm the only one they've done this too. Looking at my final bill, I paid $400 for parts, and an equal $400 for labor, or $133 an hour, because I was there for 3 hours. Since the supposed 10% off coupon I gave them would have more than covered the Brake light and Oil Change (which they told me were $36 and 39, respectively), I paid $800 for new brakes. No tires. No windshield fixed. Looking at a competitor, Tires +, they would have charged $99 for front brakes, $99 for the back, total. So I got ripped off from my own dealership that I bought the car from in the first place. They don't deserve $133/hour and I would have never paid that if they would have said that. Which brings me to my last complaint. I never asked for an $800 quote. We discussed everything after the inspection, talked about needing new tires, and then they gave me the cost of everything. If 2 tires would have cost me another $250, why didn't they give me a quote of $1,050? I'm a single father, ARMY Veteran, and a guy who's just trying to make ends meet like most others. $800 is a lot for me to afford, but I need my car for work so I had no option. Now I need to come up with another $250 for tires because the ones I have are unsafe at this point, plus $350 to get a crack in my windshield replaced, all of which I can't afford right now. read more

Beware! In September, when my husband and I bought our new 2018 Kia Sportage from Napleton Kia Elgin we had a great experience. Well fast forward 6 months and we have had nothing but a nightmare. The brand new car we bought has more that 9 separate issues, some minor and some more concerning like it not starting properly. I have been patiently in and out of the dealership for weeks and have a claim filed with Kia corporate. Steve Napleton, the GM of this dealership has a lack of concern or respect for his loyal customers and doesn't stand behind his product. When my husband and I first met with him about our options with getting rid of this new car that is broken, he tells us he has no control and pushes us off to somewhere else. Weeks continue and I have more problems and I continue to contact Steve. While they were very helpful in providing a loaner for me( which they should) their attitude and communication is horrendous. After picking my car up AGAIN the other day, I find that my invoice papers are incorrect. The dates are off and over 100 miles difference on their papers versus my odometer. They had put 230 miles on my car. Yes, I approved them driving it to test it, but 230 miles!! Ridiculous! I immediately called and talked to Steve Napleton to express my concern. Once again he tells me I just need to call back tomorrow to speak to service manager. NEVER an "I'm sorry this is so frustrating for you, I will look into this". Nope! Just acts like this is no big deal. I explain to him that this is unacceptable and he needs to have more awareness of this things going on at HIS dealership. His response.. He tells me I am RUDE and disrespectful and that if I want to talk to him I need to treat him like a human and not like dirt on the bottomed of my shoe. That is a quote! WHAT!! At this point I am in tears and in SHOCK! First off, I'm not yelling or swearing and I have EVERY right as the consumer to be frustrated. Since when is the GM the victim? Not only did the car they sell me not work, but then they don't help you and actually scold you for THEIR issues. This is the WORST customer service and absolutely the worst management I have ever dealt with in my life! I will NEVER go back here nor to any other Napleton. Beware! My husband had inquired about pricing for a Kia Seltos. Dave Lamoso responded quickly. my husband indicated that we would be in that day to pick up another vehicle we had in for service. In the past 5 years, our family has purchased FOUR cars from this location. When we arrived to pick up our vehicle in for service, we requested to meet with Dave. The same Dave that sold us our 2021 Kia Sedona just 6 months ago. We indicated that we had at least one if not 2 more vehicles that we were looking to purchase within the next 4 months. We told Dave our time was limited this day, but wanted to see what we were talking about regarding monthly payments. He did not remember us at all. Had to look up on our file that we had, indeed, purchased previously. He assumed we were looking to trade in the Kia Rio that we had in for service. We were not interested in that. Asked about terms we were interested in. And then? Disappeared. I actually went out to look at what used vehicles were on the lot and literally saw Dave in the passenger seat of another vehicle leaving the lot!!!! It was evident to us that he did not value our business. He absolutely could have told us that he was working with another customer. There was ZERO COMMUNICATION from him! We absolutely feel that we don't matter. Like I said. We absolutely have 2 vehicles we are looking to purchase. One that we MUST obtain before the end of summer with our college kiddo. We have yet to receive any sort of correspondence or phone call from Dave or anyone at the dealership since we walked out. We are flabbergasted. So unbelievable that they feel good about treating REPEAT customers in this manner. We will be taking our future business elsewhere. Elgin Kia does not care about their customers. Just their sale. A day later the owner contacts us stating that the people with whom we dealt at his dealership had no authority to conduct the deal and therefore it was invalid. Long story short, we had to get a lawyer involved and lost time, money and endless headaches dealing with this situation. Had the absolute worst experience here. The salesman Dave Z would not listen to me and my dad about what I was looking for. We had done a lot of research and knew we we wanted to look at the 2017 Kia Sorento with either the v4 turbo or v6 engines and he kept showing us all of the regular v4s and also the Sportage which I was not interested in at all. It was actually really frustrating and completely felt like he was wasting our time. We even had the stock numbers of the cars we wanted to see from the website and he ignored that completely. He was a genuinely friendly person, but probably a little too comfortable. He swore while telling a story while we were test driving and it just seemed really unprofessional, especially since before that he had thought I was a high schooler it seemed even less appropriate ... (I'm in my 20s). Despite that there was no one in the dealership, we took the day off work to go and he was taking sooo much time when he would go back in the office while we were working numbers it was obnoxious. Another really weird thing was we kept asking what the interest rate on the loan would be and he just kept saying "oh I don't know" and it was just like well can you find out please? We had to ask 4 times before he told us... I had a very set max amount I was willing to pay for payments and he kept trying to get me to increase that amount despite me reminding him I have college loans and other expenses. I was a finance major and I worked the numbers I told him I was firm in my stance and knew what I was talking about, but he was pretty rude and would say things like "just don't get Starbucks once a week and you can increase your payment $25". That really rubbed me the wrong way; I am very aware of my spending habits and live very modestly, I don't drink Starbucks and even if I did I felt like it was kind of a slap in the face saying that. Another "sales trick" he did was that he held onto the keys to our trade in the entire time even after they had appraised it and we had to ask for them back aka he was keeping us from walking out while he was taking all the time in the world to do things. To top all this off we were getting ready to leave because we were so fed up and he brought out the sales manager Mike, I believe, and this guy said "oh I told Dave already you guys aren't going to buy today, you're just here getting numbers". I was so ticked and my dad was even madder. We had taken off work and I drove 4 hours home to go shopping that day, we had spreadsheets and all sorts of other things; it was clear we were serious. I was going home with a car and it certainly wasn't going to be from here. We left immediately following this and went down the street to Hyundai where I bought a car and had a wonderful experience. But seriously wasted like 3 hours here and I will never ever go there again nor tell anyone else to. read more

Not sure if I did a review for this dealership already, but I'm left very upset with them. PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! I had a pleasant beginning with them, but as soon as I arrived home with my car it's been one thing after another with this dealership. They told me I had to go to the DMV to buy my license plate (weeks after they told me the system was down the day of purchase and that I could get it in just a couple of weeks) when I put more than enough money down to cover all of those expenses. I've tried calling the manager and have been put on hold and left messages without having a phone call returned... and recently I tried setting up online automatic billing, THEY ENTERED MY VIN INCORRECTLY!!! How the heck can you do that?! The initial paperwork had it written down correctly so it's beyond frustrating that I can't set up automatic payments because of their own behalf. My salesman was great the day I started leasing my car, but the rest of the team there is making my first car experience a complete nightmare. If I could ask you to leave with anything from my review it's to avoid this dealership. My husband and I believe that the car sells itself and not the salesperson that sells the car, but having a sales advisor that you can trust and have faith in, is essential! We were so fortunate to have been greeted by the friendly faces of Sheila Nieves and Alex Ideran. They were genuinely interested in what my husband and I were looking for, so they were attentive and tuned in to small ques about our needs and wants. Sheila kept telling us that she will not be happy until, we are happy! Sheila and Alex were patient with us during the purchasing options that we were considering for our new Sorrento. They were knowledgeable about the options available, i.e. leasing vs purchase, and car features on the 2018 vs 2019. They were always upfront and meant that they would find us the perfect car! If they did not know the answer they inquired so as not to mislead us in any way. This is not the first time we have purchased a car from Sheila and Alex at Napleton's Elgin Kia. It is their high level of professionalism and service to us that brought us back to purchase a second car from them, within a few weeks of our first car purchase. Worst dealership experience I have EVER had. After being at the dealership for almost 4 hours someone at Kia ended up losing my credit card info that I used for the down payment. I didn't think to look at my credit card statement to make sure it was processed until 6 months later when i got a letter from a Lawyer stating to contact them to resolve this issue. Kia NEVER called me to say hey we misplaced your information can you provide it again. Instead they send it to a lawyer for collections. Horrible customer service. Then I get a call from my bank that my loan is through 10 months after i purchased the car to say they received a duplicate title with a lien against it from Napleton. They had my money but still put a lien on my vehicle. In the end they are supposed to get it released but I will never step foot in any Napelton dealership again. read more

I arrived at the Kia dealer wanting to gather info on a car I want to buy. Salesman came right out and started the interrogations. Questions and more questions... so much so I couldn't ask my questions. Any way I understood it's his job. So, he asked if I wanted to test drive the car and I said no because I wanted to research the car before I fell in love with the car. He said no problem; can I give you my business card. I said sure. His Manager came out with him wanted to show the salesperson how it was done! He wanted to know why I wouldn't take the car for a test drive... I replied I wanted to do research before I got emotionally involved with the car. He then said" What are you afraid of?" that was a womanizing thing to say... I felt attacked! I was so angry!!! How dare he say that to me!!! NO RESPECT! I will never buy a car there!!! I will go to a different dealer and will buy from a female salesperson!!!! read more

We had a very positive experience! Our salesman David Z. was very friendly towards us and knowledgeable about the car. All of our questions were answered, he encouraged to try out everything (gas, music, navigation, Bluetooth). We did not have any issues and everything was amazing. A very positive experience.
