Mcdonald home solutions came to my house to give me second opinion on furnace another company told me needed to be replaced was leaking CO2. Matt came by and inspected my furnace did not find any Co2 leaks but explained that my furnace should still be replaced. He gave me a bunch of different options ended up going with a new high efficient furnace duct work and added a ac for half the price the other company quoted me. Him and his helper did amazing install in timely manager after having this equipment for a month my energy bill has dropped more than half my house heats much better and quieter. I called this company for a diagnostic service. A second opinion. I already knew our AC needs major repair. Both primary and secondary lines are clogged. The drain pan is corroded. Structural damage due to rust, etc. The tech arrived within their given timeframe. After checking the unit, the tech came up with the same diagnosis - the motor to the blower is busted. He advised the replacement of the motor, of which he quoted $1,000 plus just for the part. I asked him about the clogged drain, which he didn't know about, so he quoted $250 plus. He didn't mention replacing the drain pan, so I asked him, and he said doing that involves a major overhaul, which he quoted $5,000 to $6,000 just the top of his head. Basically, he wants to replace the motor first and, from there, find out what else needs repair. It's kind of a backward way of thinking. We'll repair this and then find out what else is wrong. Is this the way of performing a diagnosis? The tech alluded that the AC unit is at the end of its shelf life, and a new AC unit comes at $15,000 to $20,000, which a different department from his company deals with. I was disappointed with this. The tech wasn't thorough with his diagnosis. He didn't provide in writing what work order is needed and how much. read more

This review is long overdue! Earlier this summer, during the first little heat wave, our AC stopped cooling the house. Being pregnant in the heat of summer is no joke. I was on the verge of tears reaching out to every company I could find. Lucky for me, Katherine from McDonald Home Solutions called me back IMMEDIATELY. She was so responsive, understanding, and accommodated my "emergency" - she called her technician, Zach, and he came out the same day (within a couple hours) to assess the issue. He knew exactly how to fix it but needed to get the right part for our system. He was back the next morning earlier than expected! He even called to let me know he could squeeze us in earlier if we were available. Zach was professional, friendly, welcoming, and explained everything so well that even I understood what happened. He offered other services when I mentioned my allergies being awful but was never pushy - which I loved! I want to know about special offers but not be bombarded by a sales pitch. My experience with Elevated Comfort from start to finish was above and beyond what I expected (and have experienced with other local HVAC companies). The office staff are polite, friendly, helpful and super on top of it (you won't get ignored, your concerns/questions won't be brushed off etc., they definitely make you feel like top priority). I had multiple companies out, some companies told me I had to completely replace certain things (some said entire system - this was for both furnace and AC issues, just for context). The repair tech that Elevated Comfort sent out first was determined and worked hard and long on my system (there was even a certain item other companies stated needed to be replaced entirely that this lovely gentleman was able to fix). The only thing I did decide I would need, although they said it wasn't necessarily a requirement yet, but since my AC was roughly 20yrs old, I did decide to replace my AC. Elevated Comfort then sent their "comfort advisor" (or I think like someone from the sales dept.) who was very thorough, not pushy at all, completely transparent with me about everything, and when I tell you how glad I am that Elevated Comfort was the third company that I had out because I now know I would've regretted using these other companies, no one else was even this thorough and one of the companies came up with a design for a new AC system that was not even doable. Elevated price matches, they know that they're doing and they are there for you even after the install. Just overall a great company, you don't come across customer service, care, experience and expertise like this very often these days. Use them, trust me you won't regret it. read more

I'm writing this as i'm being bathed in sweet cold air on a 90 degree day in Vallejo after my new AC was installed by Elevated Comfort. The guy who came to sell the system was the last quote I got and he did so much work measuring and doing math and looking under the house, multiple times, to make sure he knew exactly what I needed. That impressed me the most because the other 3 quotes I got did little besides looking at my old unit and a quick trip to my heater. They showed me that I had way less registers than I need for the size house I have which makes sense because before I bought the house there was an addition and no more registers added. We came up with a plan that would get me a new register and enlarge another one and keep it within my price range. After going back and forth with my wife we decided to pay cash to save some extra money and I can't be happier with our decision. They were professional during the sales process and very much so during the install. I work from home and was worried about noise but they were able to install it while I worked and were respectful of that. All in all I just can't say enough good things about them. Aside from being professional and knowledgeable. they are all just super nice guys and easy to talk to. I'll be calling them up anytime I have HVAC needs in the future. read more

I live in a Mobile Home park and contacted Elevated Comfort based on the reviews from customers. Having problems with my furnace heater not able to stay on to heat my 1972 Mobile Home. So, I called at 9 am today to ask for someone to come and look at my heater problem. Got a return call 30 minutes later, appt was set from 12-2pm & Ryan showed up at 12:20! I was very interested in the FREE ESTIMATE and the service technician RYAN was very through in testing all that he could to find the problem as the heater would NOT stay on. The conclusion is: need to replace the furnace due to old age etc. Since I will be selling my home in the Spring, I will not be spending the $3000 to replace this furnace heater. We had a bit of a plumbing emergency. Water from our kitchen sink was flowing backwards into a sink into our garage sink due to a backup somewhere in our plumbing. After unsuccessfully snaking the line myself, we decided to call McDonald Home Solutions. Iggy came over, got under the house, looked at the pipes, hydro-jetted the lines, and diagnosed the problems. He drew up 3 estimates and explained each of them very clearly, outlining the pros and cons. Upon deciding on the option to replace all the major lines (remove old cast iron pipes, improve grade for better flow) he and his partner Gabe were here the next day. They finished the job in a day and we were up and running. They were fast, clean, and communicated with us every step of the way. My 96 year old mother in law's rental unit furnace in Petaluma would not start up and renters were without heat. The home had a 15+ year old Payne Furnace that appeared clean in good shape and we told them it was reporting a 3 fast flash and 4 slow flash = "failure to light lockout" alarm. That means it was not lighting automatically and after 3 attempts stops for safety. They arrived in a few hours which was nice. They said the $89 service charge would be deducted from any repairs or replacement. The technician immediately began up-selling a new furnace HARD - over and over. He spoke like he had been to "selling" school using the classic push-pull fear-comfort approach. He kept using "too-sweet, oddly- nice, over-complimentary" selling language and not just plain easy to understand English. "Its an old contractors unit and may not be safe". "I'm not sure it can be repaired and the cost to open it up will be expensive". "I recommend a new furnace". "Petaluma is the only city in Sonoma requiring and VERY EXPENSIVE high efficiency furnace". This was re-iterated multiple times. We can do it without a permit but we don't advise it. We asked to troubleshoot and see what he finds after all that. This was discouraged with more sweet sales talk but with a little encouragement, he said its probably the igniter. We asked the cost of an igniter install and was told $378 as it was a big job. Since that was less than 5% of a new high efficiency furnace, we asked for him to try. After the install we asked if the $89 came off the $378 and he gave us some double talk but the essence was no. He then went into a song and dance that "it" was on the "line" ( he said this 5 times) and he would need permission from his boss just to try it. I thought that was silly since we would pay and knew the risk and cost trade off. He went to his truck and got a generic igniter and in 10 minutes tried it. As far as I could tell, he never asked his boss. It was just a ploy. The first igniter failed and he got another and in 5 minutes it was working after a little persuasion. I did not get the impression they knew what they were doing while trying to get the second igniter working. They again used a scare technique by telling us there was a flame problem which they didn't understand. But after a while and a few restarts, it worked just fine. Its still working a week later. I understand its an old furnace so we wanted to hold off for now since it will be inherited and $7000+ is a lot to spend now if it works a few more years. All they wanted was to sell a new furnace. All we wanted was an attempt to repair it for a 5% investment over a replacement. I asked them why they they said changing an igniter was a big job and expensive if it took 30 minutes at best - twice. That's almost $800 per hour. The technician's comeback was he was so "EFFICIENT". They took offense that I would say that and later decided they would not bid on a new furnace without an apology. I would not apologize in a million years. They should apologize for trying to scam a 96 year old woman's retirement. They claimed over and over they were 5 stars. Black holes maybe- not stars! Who brags they are 5 stars if they are confident? I cannot imagine what 1 star is like. What company takes obvious criticism by demanding an apology just to make a bid and do a job for a customer. An apology! never heard that before. I guess business is good. Or maybe they fear someone who looks just a little too close to their work or doesn't respond to their sales approach. I would never use Elevated Comfort because all they did was push for a new furnace versus attempting to repair one given the obvious logic of an inheritance and the 5% cost of the attempt. They were not straight shooters and used colorful "selling" language non-stop and never just explained their opinion without the plentiful adjectives that appeared to scare toward a new expensive furnace. And the "its on the line" and "I'll need to ask my boss", " the igniter probably won't work" " the flame worries us" which tried to inch us away from trying the igniter. But they left the home with the "dangerous" flame issue without a thought. Either they knew it wasn't dangerous or hoped it would start a fire. Both are quite bad - and for them too! Maybe some people just need a new furnace and like the sweet salesy language but I prefer straight forward pros and cons of a decision based on the situation and let the customer decide - its his money. Everything seemed wrong about these guys approach and it just made me feel very uncomfortable which is why I complained about the $800/hr igniter and how it seemed like a rip off when I was misled into believing it would take hours to do it. --- 30 minutes... The final demand for an apology was the nail in the coffin - 0 stars! Take it for what its worth. If this is what you like, call them, if not stay away as there are many good HVAC companies in Sonoma. read more
