I received a call from my tenant stating their air-conditioning was not working and may need to be charged. I contacted several companies to come out to diagnose the problem. Out of all the companies I called, Elevated Comfort was able to come out that day. The technician, Brandon, diagnosed the problem as being low on Freon. The house was built in 1996, since then the California environmental laws have become more stringent. The original AC system used Freon R22 which was banned in 2020. Brandon did a thorough inspection which revealed the gas furnace was leaking carbon dioxide into the air in small amounts. Sooo the whole heating and cooling system needed to be replaced. I contacted several other companies to get a quote to replace the system. Elevated Comfort came in with in a few dollars higher than the other companies but due to their dedication and attention to customer service I chose them... They installed a complete new AC and heating system up to code. A few days after the system was installed I received another call from the tenant stating his gas range and hot water heater is not lighting up. His thinking was Elevated Comfort forgot to turn the main gas line back on. Which they did not touch. The only on/off gas valve they needed to touch was the gas to the furnace. I contacted Elevated Comfort, Jynee, answered I explained the situation. She then sent out two techs, Tino Gonzalez and his coworker which I did not catch his name, who promptly diagnosed the problem to the PG&E gas meter... I contacted PG&E who responded and sent a tech out who confirmed the Elevated Comfort techs diagnosis as being a faulty gas meter. Steven, PG&E tech, replaced the meter and confirmed the gas stove, water heater and most importantly the gas heater which Elevated Comfort installed was working properly... I urge you to find an organization with more integrity. That is what I am going to do. Elevated Comfort installed my mini-split system, which consisted of one outdoor unit and two indoor air circulating units. The original install was done well, albeit expensively. About 6 months later, I decided that I would like to add an additional indoor air circulating unit to a bedroom that hadn't gotten one in the original install. Brandon from Elevated Comfort came out to look at the situation and give me an estimate. I had researched the unit to be installed and found that it retails for $500 from several outlets. Brandon plugged all the variables into his estimating software and came up with a price of $2834. This seemed a bit high, but not too much more than I expected. I told him I needed to think about it and check my budget. The next day, after doing that, I decided to go ahead with the project. Brandon told me to electronically sign the estimate he had given me. I did so, forming a contract. An hour or two later, Brandon called to say the owner had reviewed the contract and since "it would take an entire team a whole day" to do the install the price was now $4114. I know this to be a flat out lie because the original install, which included running a new 220V power line, installing the outdoor unit, and two indoor units took one day with one person doing most of the work, along with a helper about half of the day. They sent me another estimate with the new total. Not only did they repudiate a valid contract without just cause, they lied about their reasons, leaving me to speculate as to why. Like I said, find someone with more integrity. I won't be dealing with them in the future for servicing my unit. (And take all the 5-star reviews with a grain of salt. They really pulled for a 5-star review when I first had my system installed.) read more

Elevated Comfort is such a great company to work with. I have a relatively new system installed a few years ago by another company (forgot the exact name, but I will call it S, S went out of business shortly soon after the installation, I think I know the reason why now). I started to notice air leaking from the top of furnace last year. I contacted Elevated Comfort for an appointment to have my furnace checked/serviced before the winter. (BTW, I also called some other companies but they were not interested in hearing my issues, or working on systems not installed by them.) So Elevated Comfort technician Ryan M. came here on Monday, he did such a great job checking sealing of the whole system. He also went to attic checking the duct system. It was pretty obvious to Ryan that the original installer cut corners and did not install the system properly in some places. However, fixing everything would be a huge task. Ryan fixed the most urgent need to seal the supply plenum more by putting a lot more screws around the plenum as far as he could reach. Ryan was super knowledgeable and patient in answering all my questions. This is a great company and team to work together with. Thank you, Ryan! Hire these guys. They are professional, reliable, honest and smart. We have an old house. They ran into issues they couldn't have anticipated and just took it in stride. Not once did they complain or make me feel bad for the extra time they were needing to take. They honored their quote and did exceptional work. From Matt coming out to do the quote to Jaymes and his team on site doing the work to the folks in the office scheduling and arranging payment, this is a team of superstars. My central air stopped circulating last Saturday night and I setup an appointment for Monday morning. Ryan was my technician and did a great job. I scoured youtube and determined I knew it was one of 3 possibilities. I have little trust in home repair places as I've had bad experiences in the past with dishonest people. I explained this to Ryan and he was happy to walk through the process. Quickly it was determined to be one of the 3 issues (bad capacitor on the blower fan) and thankfully, Ryan had the part in is truck. Ryan offered preventative measures of things to do to add some more life to the system and was candid about future expenses I have to look forward too (you almost lost a star for that bad news Ryan :) ). My system is 20 years old and is now an outdated non supported R22 system. Overall this was an excellent experience and a relief to have Ryan work with me on the issue. The visit and the pricing for the fix was fair. However, future maintenance options and costs to replace some other parts if needed down the road do leave me wanting to just replace them myself wherever possible. read more

When my furnace died in October, I reached out on yelp and several HVAC companies replied. Practically the next day, Zach from Elevated Comfort came to see what the problem was and whether it was worth fixing - He educated me on what the problem was, but at 25 years old, I felt my furnace was ready to be replaced (although a fix was offered). The next day Josh came and went over a couple of replacement options. He listened to my particular needs and we decided on "the medium model." We noticed our recently installed heat pump wasn't sensing temperature changes outside (those nice error codes hard for us lay folks to truly understand). I called in the afternoon and they sent Ryan out the next day! Even called to say he may be just a little late than the two hour window. Emphasis on two hour window! Ryan was great, got to the heart of the problem almost immediately which unfortunately was a large, resident RAT that chewed through the thermistor wires, and some insulation. So, he basically found the rodent in the HVAC, forced it out (taking video and still photos), and then spliced the wires back, called for new parts and put wire mesh over the one and hopefully only access point into the system. Cheerfully! And compassionately (not really a warranty issue). Not happy with rat destruction these days but this company has been great to work with. Our unit works and we are just waiting for a new wire. If you are looking for a good company with responsive, knowledgeable and friendly folks...this is one of those. Thanks Ryan! read more

This latest install was an addition to the heat pump system Elevated Comfort installed for us last spring. My wife and I have been so happy with the system for the main house that we decided to add additional units for our offices, I.e., the places we spend the bulk of our days. My office addition was an easy one, just cobbling on to the existing main unit. Since that ran us out of couplings, her office was a stand-alone unit that was more complicated. Alejandro and his partner arrived right on time and got straight to work with Mario showing up a couple hours later. We were very impressed that they got it all done in one day and didn't have to work late. I would highly recommend these guys if you need an installer, and heat pump systems are awesome. My office is in a converted garage and I was worried that the unit might have trouble heating such a large area. I had two condensate pumps fail within 1 month of each other. After finally getting around to scheduling someone to come I chose to give Elevated Comfort a try, as my installer has gone out of business so not able to get warranty work done. August came on time and spent the whole afternoon troubleshooting, planning, and estimating ways to reduce long term costs and failures. He put up with my nosiness, was great to work with and did a great job! We ended up replacing one condensate pump and replacing the other with a gravity drop so no need to worry about that one ever again. The cost to replace the pump was steep ($600 for a $200 part) but the cost to reroute the other condensate line to use gravity was well worth it. For the peace of mind of never having to worry about replacing that pump ($1,100). Not just for warranty replacement of my new pump (2 year manufacture) but also for the great service, will be working with Elevated Comfort again :) read more

Our water usage for the last few months was two times the usage from the same period from the prior year. We called Elevated Comfort to determine the reason for the increase in usage and assess the quality of our water supply. In this connection, Nick and Damon performed a thorough check of our water shutoff and supply lines. They identified the cause for the leakage, addressed and fixed the problem. Also, the poor quality of our water has required us to use on faucet filters to purify our drinking water. Nick recommended and installed a home water treatment filter system that eliminates undesirable impurities (e.g. chlorine, ammonia, etc.) and purifies all our water. Therefore, we no longer require on faucet style filters and can bathe with safe purified water. We are extremely pleased with their service and related outcomes. My furnace worked great, as long as it wasn't too cold outside. No, seriously. It wouldn't start below 50F. Steve crawled into my attic and confirmed the error code I reported. As a DIYer I would have fixed it myself but this particular error code had about 10 different causes, so I figured I'd better call a pro. He made a diagnosis that I needed a new control board, and that the flue was improperly angled, allowing water to accumulate at the elbow, putting back-pressure on the blower. I was skeptical but deferred to his judgement and expertise. A few days later when the part arrived, he returned to make the repairs. The furnace has been working like a champ ever since, and given the current cold snap, I am most grateful to have reliable heating. Zach from Elevated Comfort is prompt, personable and professional. He's also very knowledgeable about the HVAC systems. Not sure why our AC conked out yesterday but he did a thorough inspection of our entire system changed the filters which we forget to change and were filthy. We purchased a surge protector as a possible solution to why the AC mysteriously stopped working. We also purchased a air filtration device to keep the dust and dander levels down. We have to figure out a reminder system for routinely changing the air filters. Overall a very pleasant experience. Zach was in and out in less than 2 hours. Last Year Elevated Comfort installed mini split AC units into the family room and bed room - where we spend most of our time. It works fantastic. We actually use it more in the winter to heat these rooms without heating the whole house. Since we have solar panels we cut our gas bill way down. The installation was great. The only negative was that to get power to the outside unit they had to run a conduit on the inside wall of the laundry room. I also signed up for their service plan. They inspect the AC units, furnace and water every year. Mike and a helper came last week to service the water heater. They also did a thorough inspection of the furnace and plumbing. They even went under the house to inspect the plumbing. read more
