I have to admit, I was a little worried when I walked into this place after having made a reservation and realizing the staff had no idea where to seat me; not because there wasn't any seating in the ample space, but because there was so much. Thankfully, I got a communal table all to myself in the garden facing the unattractive backside of their life-sized animatronic elephant. Yes, you read that correctly.
The menu has a satisfying selection of small and large plates with an obvious nod to the Indian heritage, but with a western twist that is bound to please all palates. Surprisingly, they also offer an impressive variety of pizzas with a spicy twist. And, yes dessert is available, albeit in limited quantity.
Drinks range from a healthy selection of beers, wines, and spirits, to the more child-friendly alternatives like soft drinks and juices. Tea, coffee, and one Mango Lassi are also available, but I'm not sure I would trust their quality at a bar.
I enjoyed the Chicken 65, which is a sweet and slightly-spicy fried chicken, a lot more than I thought I would. They've got the perfect balance between the two flavors, and although the chicken itself isn't crispy, the flavor more than makes up for the slightly soggy and chewy texture. I also tried the Beef Ularthiyathu & Parotta, which is beef chilli fry with a flaky fine flour bread, a bit of curry, and salad on the side. It's a bit confusing trying to figure out how to eat it, but once you dig in, you won't be complaining. Spicy, savory, exciting flavors in every bite.
While family-friendly, the interior is technically a bar, so keep that in mind if you have kids you want to bring with you. The garden space is large enough to host several families at a time, however, so just make sure you book in advance for larger parties. read more
