I've had my Tahoe Donner driveway plowed for over 30 years and this is the worst service I have ever had. They left huge berms in front of my steps and garage. Now that they are a monopoly, it seems they can't be bothered to do an even halfway decent job. read more

Our home is a 25 year old two story that needed to be stained. We received bids from several contractors, and all were competitive. I had the feeling that Snow Tech, aka Native Home Specialists aka Native Painting and Staining would do the best job. They mixed the stain colors to match the existing house color as we requested. They did a very high quality cleaning of the wood, and then good application of the stain. No mess, no over-sprays, and the house looks better now than it did 20 years ago. The price happened to be the lowest of all the bids, and yet, I don't see how anyone could have done a better job. They worked around my schedule and were responsive to my inputs. Good, honest people. A pleasure to deal with. I recommend the the Snow Tech/ Native Painting company to anyone in the Tahoe area that needs their home re-stained. read more

I was very happy with the carpet cleaning that Native Home Specialists did for me. Setting up the appointment with the owner, Wes, was easy, even when I called to reschedule. The cleaner arrived on time and did everything efficiently. I had no worries about my pets, as they use a clean, nontoxic solution. My carpets dried well- and the price was excellent. Snow Tech over the years have provided great service. When they merged with Waltman to become Elements, there has been a gradual decline in service. The service is still acceptable, but not at the level that Snow Tech provided. Here is an example. Years ago, I found that the bottom step of my stairs was damaged. I thought that a contractor may have damaged the step while building a deck. This was not the case as the step was repaired without my knowledge. Snow Tech did this on their own as the damage occurred during snow removal from my driveway. This year, I requested Elements to provide a bid to repair the railings on my deck. I did not receive a bid and contacted their office. I spoke with the estimator who informed me that he would visit the property within a day or so. I did receive a response that was generic (i.e., a general description of maintenance, not repairs with no cost estimate to replace the railings) response. I visited the office and was told that possibly Elements does not repair Trex railings, but in any case the estimator would call me that day. I never received a call back. In my opinion good customer service starts with communication. When a representative of a company says that I will receive a call to discuss the matter, I expect that call. There is no excuse for not responding to requests for assistance. As a post script, I was able to hire another contractor to replace with railings with wood and hogwire (something Elements probably could have done). I hope that this is only a one time occurrence, but it should have never happened in the first place. read more

Worst company we've dealt with in Truckee. And now they've acquired Waltman, which was a great local snowplowing company. Clearly if you live in Truckee, then there's going to be no point in having a driveway clearing contract because they won't do it anyways. read more

Doing a poor job with driveway clearing. I have been renting every winter in Tahoe for the last 20 years. I have never spent so much time in my driveway shoveling to get cars in and out. This company has purchased Waltman Construction and the new name is now Elements Mountain Company. This season we are stuck but will be looking for a new service next season. read more

In the big winter of 2017, we had Snowtech plowing our driveway. I've never seen such a fast, continuous and large buildup of snow in Truckee. It was a challenge for everyone. We live in one of the higher altitude homes on the edge of Tahoe Donner. Despite the craziness, my driveway was plowed before I had to leave for work every day. I don't work 5 days a week (I work 4) and I'm a teacher so on snow days (there were 12 in the last school year) I didn't have to get to work. There were plenty of challenging workdays with lots of snow, and I know Snowtech could not get to everyone every day. Nevertheless, we had good service. When we would call to find out when our driveway would be plowed, we had a courteous response, and the plow came fairly quickly. Let's not judge Snowtech (now Elements) based on last winter. read more

This is my first year with SnowTech and it will surely be my LAST! Their plowing is sporadic at best, they don't answer their phones and when they do, they have a bunch of excuses as to why your driveway isn't plowed. All I know is I paid the price they asked and my husband is shoveling our driveway. Never again! read more

They were *great* in 2015-16, very responsive! But 2016-17? a whole different company. When I called asking for our driveway clearer in Jan., they suggested I get a snow shovel and get to work myself. Unfortunately SnowTech just merged with Waltman Snow Removal, and you don't need a PhD. in Economics to know what happens in monopoly market conditions: service gets worse, and prices go up. If you enjoy having cable service from Suddenlink/Comcast, you'll *love* the new Waltman/SnowTech combo as "Elements Mountain Company". read more

Driveway plowing, driveway sealing, stained my house, all of the above for 5 plus years. They do what they say they will when they say they are going to be there and if there are issues they fix them. They hit my light once and my garage door and fixed both. The stain had a few drips on the deck which the spa guy noticed and they came right out. Another company did my driveway sealing when we first moved in and it took months for them to finish (and ask for there money) but they didnt get the job done. I also love the snow updates. When I stopped by to pay my bill for the driveway they gave me a tour of the facilities. read more

I've been using Snowtech for 7 seasons now and things only get better. I love the daily email updates explaining the snow situation and what to expect. They are really plugged into the town plowing plans and how that will impact berms to my driveway. Many years ago, the auger on one of the machines caught my stairs and they were very responsive about coming out to repair them (better than before). We're having a great snow year and they are working hard...hope they still make some money given how frequently they're having to clear! read more

We purchased a very badly neglected (but not abused) bank repo in 2011. The 10 year old light-colored standard contractor grade carpet was filthy from general use. The professional carpet cleaning at that time, by another company, did satisfactorily clean the carpets. However, the other company was unable to remove a big stain, "graying" on the stairs, and the somewhat "used" look of the carpet. Following a recent 2015 cleaning by Native Home Specialists, I am very happy to report that Native Home Specialists not only removed both the large stain and the "graying" on the stairs, but essentially made the 15 year old carpet look new. We will definitely be calling Native Home Specialists for future carpet cleaning services! read more

After interviewing multiple painters last fall, I chose Native Home Specialists for both a complete internal repainting of our home and (this summer) for carpet cleaning. THESE FOLKS ARE AS GOOD AS YOU CAN FIND ANYWHERE IN TAHOE. The quality of the painting (and the consultation they did in advance) was spectacular, and their attention to detail was amazing. Since we ourselves had repainted some worn areas and walls over the years, I know a bit about how hard it is to get crisp lines and an even tone. They completed the job on time and on budget, stayed in touch with me with updates and asked pertinent questions (since I was out of town), and the final job looked even better than we expected. I didn't think that was possible. All furniture, lamps, beds etc. was replaced perfectly and the house was cleaned up well. They brought in their color consultant (best painter) for a consultation before starting, and he was absolutely top notch. The consultation was included in the cost and well worth the time. I received a very useful education. In addition, they re-stained our tired looking wooden doors, so the whole house looks rejuvenated. They recently started cleaning carpets so I decided to give them a try in that arena as well. OUTSTANDING. There were several large areas with either really imbedded dirt or with huge stains, and they got every single stain out and did not stretch the carpet in doing so! I have tried a number of other carpet cleaners in the Tahoe area and been disappointed every time. One used funky chemicals that left a sweet yukky smell. Another used too much water and stretched the carpet. Native Home Specialists were just the opposite. Natural materials, no smell, fresh looking carpet as clean as a whistle, and everything done on time and within budget. My only suggestion would be to ask them to put down the plastic carpet protectors under heavy chair/bed legs after they have cleaned so as to not leave marks in the carpet -- but you can get rid of those by putting an ice cube in the hole, believe it or not. Awesome job plowing our driveway for the last 12 years as well. I switched to Snow Tech based on my neighbors glowing review. This is second year using Snow Tech for snow removal and I have to say that overall I am not happy with their level of service or their attitude towards their clients. Last year they had to return a few times because they did not fully plow the driveway and this year I am one of the first to get plowed so they plow my driveway at 2:30 in the morning and in big storms this does not help me as by the time I need to get out I have to shovel the driveway and the berm at the end of the driveway. When I called the owner Matt and asked if they can please plow a little later in the morning like they did last year he told me I am sol.....not gonna accommodate me even tho I am full time up here. Told him I would have to consider using another service next year and he said that's fine with him. Some customer service Snow Tech, so yes I will take all of my business elsewhere because when you are doing business with people that tell you to go to their competitors for better service you know the writing is on the wall. Their service is likely to continue to disintegrate, just look at all the bad reviews in the last week. Check out Waltman or Snow Removal Services, that is what I plan on doing for next year. read more
