During the recently-completed remodel at my home, I had to essentially fire three previous painters for subpar work throughout the interior of the house. It was absolutely maddening. Finally, I found Chris, who stepped in and made everything right. His attention to detail is outstanding, as is his execution and professionalism. He did a particularly great job fixing a botched clear-coat job on our main entry door, which looks fantastic now. In short, Chris and his team are everything you could want from a professional painting outfit. They know what they're doing, and take pride in doing it right. Highly recommended! read more

Chris D'arata and his team were excellent. He is in high demand, but still managed to work us in for the gables on our home within a few weeks of booking. His prep work, painting, and cleanup were precise and we appreciated the attention to detail. We love the way our home looks with the fresh paint! We would highly recommend this company. read more

Chris and his guys came to paint the exterior of our house in September. What a great job they did! The exterior of our house is transformed. Simply great. His guys showed up every day at 7AM and stayed to at least 5PM, every day. The guys were well-dressed, sober, happy about their job and very meticulous. They readily accepted suggestions. D'Arata's price was very fair. In fact it was a bargain considering the quality of workmanship. I would defititely hire Chris again.I heartily recommend DArata painting for anyone needing a house painting. You will not be disappointed! read more

It took me awhile to find a good painting company, but I finally struck gold with D'arata Painting. The quality of their work is top-notch, and the owner, Chris, is conscientious, thorough, and always stays in touch to let you know when they'll arrive and what they'll be doing. Finally, the cost was very reasonable and better than most quotes from other painters. Highly recommend! read more

I waited a little late in the season to find a painter to refinish our deck before bad weather hit. I wanted someone local. I like supporting local businesses. I looked on yelp and found D'arata Painting. I was amazed, they had over 20 reviews and all 5 stars. I started reading the reviews and consistently people said: Chris was professional, his workmanship was exceptional, he communicated well, was conscientious and courteous. Well with all that I had to call. My first communication was with Chris's wife Carly. What a sweetheart she is and is very knowledgeable of the business. I sent her a couple of pictures and approximate deck measurements. Three days later Chris was here to meet me and inspect the deck. I was impressed with him. He was sure he could complete the job before the weather got bad. A couple of days later I received a very professional bid. It was a go. Chris did everything he promised and my deck looks fantastic. I no longer have to worry about it before Mother Nature brings her wrath. Thank you again Chris and Carly. I will be calling you for future work. read more

I contacted Chris at D'arta painting company to get a bid on a stain job. He touched base with me in a timely manner and set up a time for a walk through and estimate. I got estimates from 3 different companies and all were within a few hundred dollars of each other. I choose Chris because of his communication and expertise with log homes. When the day finally arrived he and his team showed up on time as stated and began the power washing part of the job. Taking the extra time to cover up my redwood deck as to not compromise it while powerwashing the house. He and his crew work hard and are very considerate of the home owner. A week later he and his team were back to start taping off windows, doors, lights. They even removed downspouts to ensure complete coverage of stain. I was home during the job and noticed his crew worked hard the whole day and were always considerate of my plants, my vehicles, lawn furniture etc. He and his crew can be trusted to do the job correctly and efficiently. I would absolutely use Chris again for staining or painting. . Highly recommended. read more

A pleasure to do business with from start to finish. I contracted with D'arata Painting to repaint a turret on top of a Queen Ann Victorian in downtown Nevada City. The turret is very difficult to access and the existing shakes were in really bad shape as a result of poor paint jobs in the past. Chris submitted a reasonable bid, showed up when promised, completed job quickly and left the job site clean. He also did touch painting in areas outside the scope of his original bid without charge. I've asked Chris to bid additional work and will no doubt use his services in the future. Chris and his crew are the best! read more

I I'll be hiring these guys to paint our interior. Not just because of their great reviews, but because of the impression one employee left me with today. James, a D'Arata painter, stopped by my house while I was shoveling the driveway. He said, "I've got 10 minutes left on my lunch break, can I help you shovel." Such a wonderfully random act of kindness And a sacrifice of his time. Thank you James, for being a really great human! read more

We recently had Chris and his crew refinish our ironwood deck. They were very professional - letting me know when to expect them each morning of the job and knocking on the door to let me know when they arrived (as I work from home). They really took their time with the job in power washing the deck, then sanding it down, and finally staining it. They clearly take pride in their work and don't just rush through it to get on to the next job. Our deck looks absolutely beautiful! One word of advice - book in advance! Chris and his team do such a great job, they are in high demand. read more

We had D'arata Painting work on our house. The entire experience was excellent. We bought an older house/cabin outside Nevada City. It was a challenging job as it's an older place that hadn't been treated in years and there were various areas with wood repairs (dry rot) that didn't match. They provided superb guidance and options on how to tackle it. They did an incredible job and finished on time (and budget). Everything from initial quote to post work follow up has been great. We've actually asked them back for another job. read more

I reached out to Chris with a time sensitive room I needed painted for an upcoming event. He was very willing to work with me and fit my project into his schedule even though I needed the work done within only one week of my reaching out to him. He was very friendly, professional, and thorough and got the work done on time and did a great job too! He communicates well and was so easy to work with. Thanks Chris for fitting us in!!!! read more

After talking to several painters, we hired Chris D'Arata to paint the exterior of our house. I'd seen his name on jobs around town. We did so in August and at that time he said that he could begin work in November. It sounded OK to us, a guy that was fairly busy must be doing something right. But we were a little bit leery of having someone paint our house in the winter.. but he did assure us that he could do it. When getting the bid from him, I was impressed with his spiel. But if you've ever worked with contractors, you know that spiel often doesn't follow through on the job. Well, Chris's did. We found that he and his crew were very meticulous, did not cut any corners, and prepped the house for painting more than I could have imagined. Now that the job is finished, I can say that Chris is one of the most conscientious contractors I have ever hired to work on a project. And his crew is the same way. They worked very hard every day that they were here. They did not paint when it was too cold or too wet. The worked that they did exceeded our expectations. I would have no problem hiring him again or recommending him to anyone else. read more

Best in town! They are extremely busy which is an indicator right out the gate of how in demand they are. The attention to detail is impeccable and Chris will not deem a job finished until he is personally satisfied. I highly recommend Chris and his fine crew for any of your painting needs. read more

We had been looking for someone to paint our master bedroom and bathroom. After seeing the positive reviews of D'arata Painting, we requested a quote. It was more than we were hoping for but when Chris came over we were instantly impressed. He is professional, always showed up on time, and even helped us choose just the right color for our rooms, something we really appreciated! Chris and his crew moved our heavy furniture, patched nail holes, patched damaged places on the baseboard and did an excellent job cleaning up at the end of the project. We love the new look of our bedroom and bathroom! We strongly recommend D'arata Painting! read more

Wonderful people who did a wonderful job. Chris and his crew were polite, great a communication and our interior paint looks amazing. They did great on set up and clean up. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND using D'arata. Their estimate was a little higher than other estimates we received but the quality of their work justified any additional cost. read more

I can highly recommend D'Arata Painting. Professional, competitive pricing and easy to work with. I met with and received bids from two local painting companies. The job was exterior and small - to clean up and paint the wooden high eaves and flashing around the roof line of a largely vinyl shingle home. In reviewing the project Chris was knowledgeable about what needed to be done and what didn't, and he was specific about his recommended approach. He knows his stuff. Chris's bid was timely, complete, professionally prepared and very competitive. He had all the necessary equipment. We were flexible on schedule and just asked that they communicate when they would be around and Chris was diligent about this sending an email each evening about arrival times next day etc. chris was personally involved in the job - while he had a team he also was here and did a good portion of the work himself. He took care of a small extra area which was not in the original bid and not expected. Clean up was great - gravel driveway was raked and there was no evidence their man lift was here. In discussing other jobs it's clear Chris has experience with very large expensive projects and it's great he was also willing to take a small local job. I would use Chris again in a heartbeat. read more

D'arata painting, painted my house recently Nov 2013. He is honest and went above and beyond to please me and make sure we were satisfied. He used the top of the line Pittsburgh paint and caulked all the door jams window frames and trim and more. He was very easy to work with and worked hard and was very meticulous. He also had some good insight on color matching and triple coated the sunny side because it was soaking up the paint . I would highly recommend them. read more

Chris did a beautiful job of painting our laundry room and bath. Because it was a rather small job, some other painters I talked to either overbid the project or basically told us we should look elsewhere, but Chris was quick to send me a bid, and set up an appointment. His price was fair, and he even went above and beyond the call of duty by caulking our baseboards and cleaning light fixtures before putting them back in place. I would highly recommend D'Arata Painting. read more

Excellent work by Chris and Crew. Immaculate preparation and work. The crew were courteous and knowledgeable and left our home exactly the way they found it. We definitely recommend D'Arata painting. We will use them again! read more

Chris and his crew are professional and detailed in every aspect from start to finish. For example, they removed the down spouts, hand rail, outdoor light fixtures in order to spray paint. They also patched some areas where needed, masked, papered, protected all windows, decking etc that were not to be painted. They are fully equipped with pressure washer, paint sprayers tarps, ladders. I appreciated that they put away everything at the end of the day, locking all equipment in their enclosed trailer over night I also appreciate that they did not rush the job. The work crew are polite and go about their work in an orderly manner. They are careful, organized and clean in their work habits. Chris is an honorable person himself and requires his workers to be the same. I certainly would recommend him. read more

So impressed with D'arata painting! Met with Chris...received our bid, and he got to work on our deck...it needed major help! It was a 3 step process...and he painted our post too! His workmanship and professionalism are top notch! I can't say enough good things about Chris and his company....he's great! read more

I hired Chris to stain some custom cabinetry to match the existing wood in the room. They were very professional from start to finish. Chris stayed in contact with me via text to keep me informed of the schedule and they were always right on time. After the first coat of stain, Chris sent me a picture and I decided to go a shade lighter. Chris was very understanding of my request and accommodated me with changing his schedule along with the extra effort of lightening that first coat. His attention to detail is excellent. He even touched up the wall paint surrounding the cabinet. The final product was excellent. I'll be using D'arata Painting in the future! read more

D'Arata Painting painted our 2400 s.f. home, 1000 s.f. carriage house, well house, and refinished our extensive decks. The company is absolutely fantastic. The workmanship was superb. Chris D'Arata, the owner, was hands-on with his crew. He was extremely flexible and helpful as we struggled to find just the right color for our home. His crew was professional and responsive. The price, compared to three other quotes we got, was far and away the best value. The only minor challenge we had was that they are in such demand that they had to schedule our job several months out. No problem, however, as painting can usually wait awhile. I cannot recommend the more highly, and would use them again in a minute. read more

We recently had Chris D'Arata Painting prepare and paint the exterior wood trim on our Victorian style house and outbuildings. Despite delays imposed by weather and unforeseen challenges requiring extra caulking and other prep, Chris and his team did a beautiful job. We feel that they always went for quality in completing the work, even if going the extra step meant taking more time to get it right. Chris also did a major amount of interior painting for us, including oil-based painting of interior doors and handling tricky work involving high ceilings and skylights. He was great in helping us select colors for various rooms and was totally patient (!) in handling last minute customer-imposed color changes. His painters always made us feel at ease. They worked around us and we never felt we were in their way. The quality of workmanship from Chris and his wonderful team and their positive attitude underline the caliber of the Chris D'Arata painting firm in general. I speak from personal experience that for Chris, no detail is too small. His goal is to have a happy customer and he does stand behind his work. We found Chris to be very fair in his pricing, and we feel completely satisfied with both the cost and performance of the work. It was a real pleasure having Chris and his team in our home. Given our experience, we have no reservations in recommending Chris D'Arata Painting to our friends and neighbors. Jo Ann S. read more

We highly recommend Chris! He was a pleasure to work with and his work was of exceptional quality. He gave us some tips that we weren't aware of that were very helpful. He painted our living room, dining room, and kitchen and the results are beautiful. We saw his work in a friend's home and contacted him for a bid. Chris gave us a very fair bid. We had another lower bid but after meeting Chris and getting a very detailed bid we felt that he would do the best job. He is at the top of our list for any future painting projects. read more

We had a very quick job that needed to get done in order to put our house on the market. We got 3 bids from local companies and Chris was in the middle. We could have gone with the cheaper bid but we felt that Chris did a more thorough job during the walk-through. We were impressed with his eye for detail and keen focus on the specifics. He was very much interested not in the simple details of putting paint onto the walls and ceilings but also blending the paint colors with the existing wood tones and stone textures. He worked clearly and forthrightly with our realtor and came up with a color scheme that was both simple and comprehensive. The job itself was done at the highest level of expertise. The job site was always kept clean which made living in the house while they worked a breeze. He and his men were always courteous and conscientious -- never once did we feel that we were in their way, which is essential if one has to live and work in the area while it is being painted. There were no runs, spills, or errors that we found and the end result was simply a perfect job from our perspective. We easily recommend D'Arata painting without reservation or qualification. read more
