I got estimates from 3 different companies and all were within a few hundred dollars of each other. I choose Chris because of his communication and expertise with log homes. When the day finally arrived he and his team showed up on time as stated and began the power washing part of the job. Taking the extra time to cover up my redwood deck as to not compromise it while powerwashing the house. He and his crew work hard and are very considerate of the home owner. A pleasure to do business with from start to finish. I contracted with D'arata Painting to repaint a turret on top of a Queen Ann Victorian in downtown Nevada City. The turret is very difficult to access and the existing shakes were in really bad shape as a result of poor paint jobs in the past. Chris submitted a reasonable bid, showed up when promised, completed job quickly and left the job site clean. He also did touch painting in areas outside the scope of his original bid without charge. We recently had Chris and his crew refinish our ironwood deck. They were very professional - letting me know when to expect them each morning of the job and knocking on the door to let me know when they arrived (as I work from home). After talking to several painters, we hired Chris D'Arata to paint the exterior of our house. I'd seen his name on jobs around town. We did so in August and at that time he said that he could begin work in November. It sounded OK to us, a guy that was fairly busy must be doing something right. The job was exterior and small - to clean up and paint the wooden high eaves and flashing around the roof line of a largely vinyl shingle home. Chris and his crew are professional and detailed in every aspect from start to finish. For example, they removed the down spouts, hand rail, outdoor light fixtures in order to spray paint. They also patched some areas where needed, masked, papered, protected all windows, decking etc that were not to be painted. They are fully equipped with pressure washer, paint sprayers tarps, ladders. I appreciated that they put away everything at the end of the day, locking all equipment in their enclosed trailer over night I also appreciate that they did not rush the job. We recently had Chris D'Arata Painting prepare and paint the exterior wood trim on our Victorian style house and outbuildings. Despite delays imposed by weather and unforeseen challenges requiring extra caulking and other prep, Chris and his team did a beautiful job. We had a very quick job that needed to get done in order to put our house on the market. We got 3 bids from local companies and Chris was in the middle. We could have gone with the cheaper bid but we felt that Chris did a more thorough job during the walk-through. We were impressed with his eye for detail and keen focus on the specifics.
