I got estimates from 3 different companies and all were within a few hundred dollars of each other. I choose Chris because of his communication and expertise with log homes. When the day finally arrived he and his team showed up on time as stated and began the power washing part of the job. Taking the extra time to cover up my redwood deck as to not compromise it while powerwashing the house. He and his crew work hard and are very considerate of the home owner. A week later he and his team were back to start taping off windows, doors, lights. They even removed downspouts to ensure complete coverage of stain. A pleasure to do business with from start to finish. I contracted with D'arata Painting to repaint a turret on top of a Queen Ann Victorian in downtown Nevada City. The turret is very difficult to access and the existing shakes were in really bad shape as a result of poor paint jobs in the past. Chris submitted a reasonable bid, showed up when promised, completed job quickly and left the job site clean. He also did touch painting in areas outside the scope of his original bid without charge. We recently had Chris and his crew refinish our ironwood deck. They were very professional - letting me know when to expect them each morning of the job and knocking on the door to let me know when they arrived (as I work from home). They really took their time with the job in power washing the deck, then sanding it down, and finally staining it. After talking to several painters, we hired Chris D'Arata to paint the exterior of our house. I'd seen his name on jobs around town. We did so in August and at that time he said that he could begin work in November. It sounded OK to us, a guy that was fairly busy must be doing something right. But we were a little bit leery of having someone paint our house in the winter.. but he did assure us that he could do it. When getting the bid from him, I was impressed with his spiel. But if you've ever worked with contractors, you know that spiel often doesn't follow through on the job. Well, Chris's did. We found that he and his crew were very meticulous, did not cut any corners, and prepped the house for painting more than I could have imagined. I can highly recommend D'Arata Painting. Professional, competitive pricing and easy to work with. I met with and received bids from two local painting companies. The job was exterior and small - to clean up and paint the wooden high eaves and flashing around the roof line of a largely vinyl shingle home. In reviewing the project Chris was knowledgeable about what needed to be done and what didn't, and he was specific about his recommended approach. He knows his stuff. Chris's bid was timely, complete, professionally prepared and very competitive. He had all the necessary equipment. We were flexible on schedule and just asked that they communicate when they would be around and Chris was diligent about this sending an email each evening about arrival times next day etc. chris was personally involved in the job - while he had a team he also was here and did a good portion of the work himself. He took care of a small extra area which was not in the original bid and not expected. Clean up was great - gravel driveway was raked and there was no evidence their man lift was here. He used the top of the line Pittsburgh paint and caulked all the door jams window frames and trim and more. He was very easy to work with and worked hard and was very meticulous. Chris and his crew are professional and detailed in every aspect from start to finish. For example, they removed the down spouts, hand rail, outdoor light fixtures in order to spray paint. They also patched some areas where needed, masked, papered, protected all windows, decking etc that were not to be painted. They are fully equipped with pressure washer, paint sprayers tarps, ladders. I appreciated that they put away everything at the end of the day, locking all equipment in their enclosed trailer over night I also appreciate that they did not rush the job. The work crew are polite and go about their work in an orderly manner. They are careful, organized and clean in their work habits. I hired Chris to stain some custom cabinetry to match the existing wood in the room. They were very professional from start to finish. Chris stayed in contact with me via text to keep me informed of the schedule and they were always right on time. After the first coat of stain, Chris sent me a picture and I decided to go a shade lighter. We recently had Chris D'Arata Painting prepare and paint the exterior wood trim on our Victorian style house and outbuildings. Despite delays imposed by weather and unforeseen challenges requiring extra caulking and other prep, Chris and his team did a beautiful job.
