Farshad visited our home to provide an estimate on some exterior work we need done. He was frank, and seemed disinterested, when we said we were seeking the best price & value for our work. He said his company is more expensive than others, and his staff speaks English. We asked for an estimate for some work, and advised we were going to get a few others. He said to show him the other estimates and then he would consider if he could beat their prices and do the work. He said his company is very busy, and selective about the jobs they choose. I think he was just looking for $$$. He never sent an estimate, and when I followed up with him about it, he said, "I thought you were going to send me the other estimates, so I could see if we could beat their price." The deck itself turned out way better than we were hoping - it's clearly well-made (I might even say over-built which is comforting given recent snowfall levels) and it is just beautiful. I contacted Mr Honey Do from Yelp on Monday 11/14 to inquire about getting a quote for work a condo in Incline Village. I sent them the address and we agreed on a meeting time as you can see in the attached image here. Since I don't live there, I woke up at 5:30am on Friday 11/18 to ensure that I would be there on time (by 10:30am as agreed to) by 10am so I could meet the person providing the quote. I find that they were extremely unprofessional in this case because not only did they not show up for the quote, but they claimed that no one was there when they showed up. I have time stamps and cameras showing that people had been working there since 8am and I showed up at 10am and at 10:30am texted the number to confirm should they want to share my number with the person coming. Their excuse about not having man power in this area is BS because they already knew the address hence they already knew what area they were working in. I am completely baffled at how companies like this can operate, and it was honestly a huge toll because I drove 4+ hours to meet this person ad they never showed up. With how long the snow stuck around, we couldn't start the project until May and we had a tight timeframe to complete the project with summer fast approaching. After further assessment of the current deck, the scope of work increased to a full rebuild due to the condition of the joists and footings, and Jose and his team worked overtime for what ended up being about a month and a half to completely rebuild the deck. Michael, the owner of Mr. Honey-Do was very quick to respond with a bid and had a very reasonable and accurate quote for us. He was responsive and easy to work with for the whole process. Tyler was amazing. He worked closely with us to trouble shoot things that popped up. He is probably one of the hardest working people that I have met (he often opted to work on the weekend as well!). Where do I start? I have worked with Michael for several years. He has come out to fix faucets, install a vanity, install doorknobs, move out a washer and dryer, move in and install a new washer and dryer, discover a leaking hot water heater, replace the hot water heater, move out an old stove, move in and install a new stove...I could go on. He schedules his appointments to be most convenient for me and, if he can't come himself, he sends one of his employees. Michael has also made several unscheduled emergency calls to guests in my home. Most recently, he came, at night, to look a furnace that was not working. It was snowing and cold. When he found that the work required a specialist, he called a company he knows and they were out in 2 hours to fix the problem. In the meantime, he found an open hardware store and brought the family space heaters. If all of that isn't all amazing enough, Michael and his team replaced my second story high front deck, my rear deck, and my front stairs last year. It was a project that spanned three seasons, required his constant communication with the insurance company, the county permit offices, the utility office, the fire department, the architects, and the engineers. He employed trustworthy, dependable contractors throughout. The end result is like art! Neighbors regularly comment on the face-lift that my home has had. We bought a condo in Northstar which had not been updated since being built in the 70's. They came and gave a reasonable estimate, executed the work on time, and did an exceptional job. Their contractor/handyman Ed Lahr was extremely helpful, and made the entire process easy. He was so helpful with installations, referring me to cabinetry and floor specialists that they work with, and helped with deliveries and assembly of furniture, light fixtures, you name it he did it. They also finished the project ON TIME! I will be using them again 100 percent. Our place is beautiful and just what I wanted. We had an ice dam on our roof this winter. No wonder with all the snow. I, however did not know what an ice dam was. We had some damage from water in our kitchen ceiling. I called Mr Honey Do and spoke with Chris. She had Bob come the next day to check it out and he confirmed that it was an ice dam. Worked with Steven to get a quote and get on the schedule to have them remove the snow from our roof. When I turned out that it took them far less time to remove the snow than anticipated they cut the charge by half! Fraud ALERT, con artists. I have camera's all over my vacation rental, the amount of hours I was billed on various project was sometimes 8 times the amount of hours they were actually there. Poor workmanship, didn't cut off the redmarkings on the lumber and used them as finished posts so you see spray painted red ends of the bottoms of the posts around the deck, also threw all the scraps and debris from the deck replacement below the new deck on the ground carelessly left there! for me to clean up Unbelievable! We had work done last year. They were supposed to come replace the drywall and open up our existing wall. They did show up and open the wall and left it all there. The entire wall and all their personal trash was left in my living room for my husband and i to clean up. We had to pay for trash removal service and then months later after i paid via check they contact me saying no payment has been made. Just my luck I'm still moving into our home, have no copy of the check and just closed that bank account so don't have access to pull any previous checks that were made out over a year ago. Now they're threatening to send me to collections if i don't pay the invoice from a year ago after they left all their trash there. Horrible business and at this point customer service. If this was my company i would write the $350 off because i would be mortified that my company left all the trash and demo in someone's home and would feel horrible for arguing back and forth accusing the customer of not paying. Used for snow shoveling this winter. Shoveling was great, but honestly it isn't the most exciting task. What I strongly appreciated was their shoveling out my propane tank and immediately calling me to let me know it was down to 2%! Summary: I would NEVER work with them again or recommend them to anyone. I will happily discuss with anyone more detailed reasons why if needed but below are the highlights. Michael was the most unprofessional and rude vendor I've ever encountered. I hired them based on a reference from my real estate agent who had given me other great vendors I used and loved. I hired them to do a larger scale project - a few fixes that came up on the inspection plus updating the kitchen (raise one of the sets of cabinets which were shorter than the rest, replace the countertops, etc) - which the project manager Josh said his team could do. Josh and I did a live walk through at the house to go through the tasks I wanted before getting a contract and pricing negotiated. I worked with Michael on the contract which is where things started to go awry. When I asked for a quote I was given a total number for everything combined without any detail by task. I asked for a breakdown of the cost given it was a five figure number and his response was X for the kitchen (still a five figure number) and Y for the other tasks. I created a detailed task sheet and asked him to fill in the cost per line item task so I could decide what I wanted to move forward with. That took another 4 emails to get completed but I decided to sign up for them based on the referral even though they were more expensive than others. The largest issue of the entire project was that there was NO communication from them for changes to my original conversation with Josh were made without letting me know what I originally wanted wasn't possible. Instead, work was just done that we hadn't discussed and it wasn't until I saw the difference and asked about it that anyone spoke to me about it. Also, I never got a cost decrease when the change required less labor but definitely paid more when they decided something required more labor than they originally estimated. The largest example of this was with the raising of the cabinetry. Our original discussion was around trying to remove the lower cabinets, build a base for them to sit on to level the countertops and then replace the cabinetry. However, this wasn't possible because the cabinets were old and would have resulted in them being destroyed. I was not told about this until AFTER they raised the cabinetry from above without even letting me know. When I asked about why it was done differently they informed me of the issue, which I would have OK'd if they let me know when they discovered that but when I asked to get a reduction in labor (I imagine it would have taken more hours to pull out cabinets and reinstall them as originally discussed) I was very cut off mid sentence and rudely told by Michael there would be no change in price and if I wanted he would have his team reverse the work, rip out the cabinets and they would get ruined and I'd have to buy new cabinets which he wouldn't be responsible for. I never said I didn't agree with their assessment, I just thought I'd be paying for actual labor used given the different scope of the project, but fine, I went forward with this just to get the project finished. Also in my original discussion about new countertops I said that I would purchase some off the shelf countertops to save time and money rather than have them acquire it for me. When the countertops arrived they were uneven so wouldn't have looked great installed as is. Because of this they needed to rent tools to cut the countertops and it would take an additional 6 hours of labor. I paid for the rental of the tools and the additional labor even though it seemed to me that if you take on a project involving new countertops, you should have the tools to do countertops. But I didn't argue about this because I wanted them to look good and they actually gave me notice before they did something we didn't already agree to. I also hired them to install GFCI outlets in the bathrooms. When they told me all the work had been done I saw there were not new outlets in the bathrooms so I asked about this. I was told by Josh it wasn't possible to install them based on the way the house was wired. I was good with this and figured I wouldn't need to pay for work that didn't get done so when I got the final invoice from Michael I let him know Josh said the outlets didn't need to be done so could he please take that off. I was sent back a VERY condescending email about the labor needing to happen even though the outlets were installed (again the first time I'd heard this after I asked) and telling me costs were more than fair because they helped get the countertops up the street from Home Depot since their truck was too large for the street and they had to deal with packages sent (I asked multiple times if it was ok to have packages delivered before ordering anything and was told yes). In the end, I paid the full amount with extra costs for the counters just to never have to speak to Michael ever again. read more

Before the employee left my house I confronted him about the damage. He was apologetic and assured me that they would replace the flooring. We all know that anything any project in an old home will always turn out bigger than planned. Jose And Abel were the wo men who worked on my project and they were amazing. They were so helpful to me as I really didn't know any of the ins and outs of remodel. They helped me make decisions on products and planning. They were so professional. They're work is impeccable. On time everyday, as un-intrusive as they could be during construction. They cleaned up everyday and at the end, if it hadn't have been for my beautiful new shower I wouldn't have know they were there! Michael, the owner, stopped by mid-way to check in, which was nice. One thing I really like is that the invoice I received was itemized down to the minute. Every hour and how it was spent was there, as well as any materials they had to buy.
