I don't usually like to review a restaurant after one visit but it's 2021 so what are rules? My husband and I went for a Mother's Day eve dinner (first time we've had a non-family babysitter at night!). Everything was so damn good. We had the loaded totchos as an appetizer. My only, very small, critique would be the cheese sauce was a bit salty, but that didn't stop us from eating every last bite. Husband had the buffalo chicken sandwich and I had the bahn chi. I'd never had kimchi on a bahn mi before but consider me a believer. Both sandwiches came fries. Okay, fries with a sandwich, pretty standard. But these fries were, dare I say it...the best fries I've ever had?! They were certainly a contender. Really fun spot if you're looking for more vegan options! It was a bit crowded and chaotic when we got in for a reservation, but our waiter was extremely nice and friendly so the wait and noise didn't even bother us. There are a ton of tables outdoors as well which I would probably choose next time I visit, since the indoors felt a bit claustrophobic to me. I ordered the fobster roll with cucumber salad, which was served very quickly and was delicious and unique! Loved the mushrooms in it but didn't really taste like a lobster roll (still amazing though). For the price I was expecting the roll to be a bit bigger, but my dining companions all got burgers which were much more hearty. For dessert I got the vanilla ice cream with Oreos- super creamy and decadent. Probably the best vegan ice cream I've had. So glad this place opened to fill our Remedy Diner void with vegan BBQ. They have some amazing BBQ nachos with a cashew cheese sauce, and while I've had really bad attempts at this in the past, they really nailed it. Element is one of our favorite restaurants. Have always had a great experience until our visit for lunch on 5/26/25. Everything about this experience was poor. Three of us arrived at about 11:30. There were only 8 people seated. we sat at a table in the middle. Waitperson took drink orders quickly. We always get tea No Straws. Teas were brought with straws inserted So no saving that plastic. It was almost 20 minutes later before we were asked if we were ready to order and the place still only had a dozen patrons. After finally ordering, 1 Reuben and 2 of the new special oyster mushroom Po' Boys, the waitperson asked if we wanted tea refills. We said yes expecting a pitcher to be brought over, but no. Out came three more new glasses with straws. Two of the glasses had chunks of something crusty and hard readily visible stuck around various spots of the inside walls. Called the waitperson sent those back and got two more, with straws. So we are now up to 8 specifically unwanted plastic straws if you are counting. The Reuben and one of the Po'Boys came out. The Po'Boy had a generous amount of the sandwich's sauce on the fried mushroom strips. My Po'Boy didn't come for another 8 minutes after we stopped a passing waitperson and complained about its missing status. She went and got it right away. I believe it had been sitting under heat lamps the entire delay because the plain white hogie roll of the sandwich was very dry, crusty and crumbled profusely when eating unlike the other one. Even so, overall the sandwich was cold and much to my dismay there was virtually no sauce on it ..... maybe 20% of what the other one had. And the flavor of the offering was ZERO. It was like just fried tasteless batter on dry white bread. Per my companions, the Reuben was great, it always is. The fries were great as always as well. The other Po'Boy was pretty uninspiring as well per my companion but not as dry as mine because of the generous serving of sauce on that one. I hate leaving this review because Element has been one of our "go to" spots and recommendations to others. But this experience was very poor. read more

If you're looking for a delicious vegan experience, I highly suggest Element Gastropub! Background, I am a "flexitarian" with majority of all my meals being vegetarian based so we've been dying to try out Element. We tried multiple appetizers (the summer ceviche, the loaded totchos-not pictured, the chips & queso, and the jalapeño bbq wings-not pictured). The best appetizer was easily the loaded totchos. All of the appetizers are easily shareable with a table. The Bahn Chi was what I chose for my entree and my oh my. These vegan take on a bahn mi blew my expectations out of the water. The crispy tofu combined with all the spicy ingredients was simply amazing. The fries were crispy packed with a cheesy flavor. This was our 4th time at Element. The food was mostly good and the servers were lovely, hence 3 stars. However, we ordered two drinks that were terrible. A woman at the table next to us also had a bad drink, and told the server that her drink tasted like water, and she asked for an extra shot. My sangria tasted like seltzer with a tablespoon of wine it it. The "assorted fruit" was a slice of lemon and lime. It was meant to have peach schnapps in it and if it did, I couldn't taste even a hint of it. My husband's drink tasted like a can of pineapple juice and nothing else. We apologetically asked them to be fixed or replaced. The manager came out and explained while he would replace one, the bartender always made the drinks perfectly and that the drink my husband ordered is very popular and they never have complaints. The way he spoke to us was super condescending and it was very off putting. I've seen other reviews mentioning this manager being rude as well. I'm not sure why he wouldn't suggest an extra shot (which we would've paid for) or remix it to make my husbands drink at least taste like something. My drink was replaced with a beer that was almost flat. Our food came and the house salad I paid extra for as a side had rotting and yellowing lettuce at the bottom of it. At this point I didn't want to be spoken down to by the manager again so I picked out the pieces for them to see and stopped eating. We tipped the server 25% for their trouble and apologized for making their life difficult. They were lovely and good at their job. I'm sad we had this experience because we genuinely liked Element up until now. We won't be returning. read more

Most of the dishes we got were decent but we felt like the online images of the dishes didn't match what we ordered. The amount of fries we got were scarce compared to the images posted online. We ordered a patty melt which looked like it was supposed to have onions and some kinds of sauces on it but ours was just a naked patty in between two slices of bread with nothing else. The Cobb buffalo salad we ordered had very little chicken on it and the "egg" was just plain crumbled tofu. The crispy chick'n inside of the crispy chick'n sandwich was mostly fried batter. The peanut butter pie was very delicious but it was smashed before the drive home and was a very small slice for the 9$ we payed for it especially considering that there are cafes downtown that offer fancy pastries for a lesser price. The tater tots and the sauces that came with the philly cheesesteak were pretty good. Overall, a decent meal but very expensive considering the portion sizes and the lack of care used when preparing the food. Edit: One very nice aspect of this restaurant is however the customer service which I originally didn't mention for which I apologize. The front host was incredibly nice and when we called to have our sauces on the side instead of being in the philly sandwich, they were accommodating. They were also kind enough to reply to my initial review but I wouldn't call a restaurant on a Friday night and bother them to mention problems that we had unless it was a complete mess up of our order. read more

Wow!! I had family in from out of town last night and we went to Element Gastropub in downtown Raleigh. We started with Pimento Cheese Rangoons and Sweet Chili Sauce Wings and we were blown away. The food was hot and fresh and prepared perfectly. We enjoyed Philly Sandwiches and Elemental Burger with Malt Vinegar Fries and it was amazing. The food was great and the atmosphere was fun and welcoming. We enjoyed several mixed drinks that were perfectly crafted and unique including the Carolina Mule and the Pineapple Pepperita. The food portions were generous and I couldn't eat another bite, so I took a piece of Pop's Peanut Butter Cheesecake home.......delicious!! Two stars because the food we did eat was really good but the service was just really poor. While I truly believe they have great food, our experience was a bum out. We arrived around 6:30 and sat at the bar. We placed drink orders and when she came back with our drinks we placed our appetizer and food order. Appetizers came within about 15-20 minutes and then nothing. After about 30 minutes, one of the bartenders came and asked if we ordered food and we said yes. She said they had Wi-Fi issues and didn't get our order so she wrote our order down on paper and said she would get it in ASAP. We waited another 20 minutes and she came back to us and asked if we were waiting on food and recited an order, which wasn't ours. At this point we had been there since 6:30 (it was almost 8, so an hour and half) and they had never placed our food order with the kitchen so we told her to forget about it. Then sat for 45 minutes waiting to pay. And there was a line of people waiting to sit and we were ready to leave but couldn't check out? So we had to go to the bar and ask to check out. I have kids so it's imperative that I'm in and out. If there was better communication up front then we would not have sat and waited. I do wish they had more fresh options. The pancakes didn't even come with fruit. It looked like they had a full bar but they couldn't make an espresso martini. Very confusing. I probably won't dine here again. Drink menu limited. Tried the chicken sandwich which was pretty similar to regular chicken I'd say. Service was okay, went for my 21st and they don't do much. Came here after the night market in Moore Square. I'll preface this by adding that I am a carnivore, though my daughter is Vegan, however, I'm a fan of all foods. I really liked the look of the restaurant, the signs, the beer taps on the wall, periodic table etc. The outdoor patio area was a nice set up also. We started out with the Trumpet Mushroom Ceviche with tortilla chips. I liked the idea of this dish with all veggies, the mushrooms were nice and meaty, avocado and veggies fresh, BUT it was so overpowered by the lime that it was almost inedible. I am a huge fan of ceviche, I understand the preparation etc, but the mushrooms were just saturated in it, making it not a good dish for myself or my daughter. I ordered the weekly special of a play on a Pork Belly sandwich with a side salad. The presentation was good, the salad was a great size, as was the sandwich. I enjoyed this dish, the pickled onions, and cucumbers were a nice touch to this sandwich. My daughter ordered the Flobster Toll with Tater Tots. It came with the same Trumpet Mushrooms as the ceviche, but with dill and a nice NE roll. The tots were ok, a little too much paprika, and the lobster roll was really nothing like lobster at all..the mushroom were all cut into really small pieces, not a meaty mushroom like you would think to resemble lobster..the correlation was a little off for me. I've been coming to element since they opened, been probably 10+ times and the food is always great besides the last time. We were seated outside in the sun for over 20 minutes without waters, when we finally got our waters they were never refilled I'm a server so I'm very patient with other servers but I had said "I don't want to ask for more water because if she takes my cup I might never get water again" it was NOT busy, 3-4 tables inside and 2 outside including us. The drinks were wrong and given to the wrong people and it took us almost THREE hours to get the check and it is pay to park per hour. I've heard a lot of talk about it going downhill and from my most recent experience, it's going downhill fast. Our server was nice but was clearly not paying attention to costumers needs. One word...AMAZING!!! If you're looking for some great Vegan food Element will not disappoint! We started with the "wings" omgeeeeee!! I choose the sweet chili sauce for the wings, so flavorful!! So, let's get into the Elemental burger with cheese, baybeeeeee!!! The bun was toasted, the sauce was smack, the burger tasted like an actual burger!! Fresh lettuce, and tomatoes!! I ate the whole burger!! The fries were pretty awesome too, crispy, light and the seasoning was perfect!! We asked our waitress what she recommended for dessert and when she said carrot cake I was sold!! This carrot cake was the best carrot cake I've ever had!! I immediately tasted the spices, and carrots. The frosting was finger licking good, it wasn't too sweet, it was just right!! I missed the walnuts, but, other than that 100!!! I'm reminiscing about that cake as I type. Service was great as well, our waitress was very knowledgeable and gave us great recommendations. My water cup stayed full and she was just a great vibe! Got the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and my sister got the BLT with gluten free bread. My sandwich was amazing, perfect nashville hot flavor and the fries were super crunchy and so good. She didn't really like the BLT that much, not enough bacon and really salty. But the tater tots were really good and crunchy. Ranch and ketchup were both really good too.
