I called to schedule an appointment and the girl was very pleasant and helpful in ensuring I was booked with enough time. About an hour before my appointment, the salon called and asked if I could come an hour later due to booking issues. My schedule was slightly flexible so this was not a big issue. They did thank me over the phone and when I first checked in for helping their situation. My stylist was Rachel. She is very knowledgeable on coloring. I came into the salon with medium-light brown hair that came down to my chest with inches of split ends :( I originally wanted to do a balayage, but decided against it since my hair naturally gets brassy when it's lighter andddd everyone is getting balayage. So, I told her I wanted to go jet black. She came back with three swatches to make sure I wanted the blackest black and not brown-black. I confirmed and then it was game time. The color turned out perfect! From there I asked her to cut off enough of the split ends that my hair could begin to get strong and healthy. At that point my hair then fell to about to my armpit. I asked if she thought it'd still look good if we chopped it to brush my shoulders. She said she thought so and she was so right! It instantly felt thick and healthy (I have very fine/thin hair)! Hair Loss for almost $200, that's what I got at Element 5 Salon! My family has been going to this salon for almost a year. We enjoyed the people and thought the results were good. Then, it took a horrible turn. In March I went in for my normal partial highlight and root color. When the root color was put on my scalp started burning. My hair dresser had stepped away, so I asked someone to get her. She came back and took a look. She said there wasn't anything on the skin, and I had a few minutes left. I suffered thorough it. Well, my scalp was itchy for a few days. The spot that had been burning calmed down. I went on about my life. My hair seemed thin and almost straw like. I assumed it was age. Fast forward to May. I went in to get my hair done. The highlights went fine. The stylist and I even talked about my previous reaction, but she never bothered to look at the spot that had burned. The second the root color went on my head was on fire. I said it had to come off. The stylist put cooling gel on but wanted me to leave the color on. The stylist went to get someone with more experience. I asked to take the color off, right away. Finally she heard me and took it off. She went back and looked at the original burn spot from March. Low and behold I had lost all the hair in the spot. And- there has been ZERO regrowth. Why this wasn't checked before more color was applied to my head, I will never know. The color come off, but the burning and itchy didn't stop. The stylists got together and decided I must have a PPD allergy. They recommended I put sweet in low in the color next time. NEXT TIME= you made me lose my hair, my scalp is on fire and you think I am coming back? When I got up to leave I was in complete shock. They actually charged me FULL PRICE- over $170 to burn my scalp and go bald!!! I wanted out of there so badly, I just paid and left. I went to my doctor to get a full workup. By the time I got there my face was numb and tingly, like I had seen the dentist. My scalp, a huge circle on the top of my head, would not stop burning and itching. ( I added a picture- check out the size of the bald spot!) The doctor gave me a shot, ten days of steroids and Benadryl to calm down the reaction. It has been a huge ordeal. We will not know for several weeks if I will lost the hair on the top of my head. The doctor says there is nothing they can do about the hair loss, only treat the burning, itching and numbness. And still not one time has the salon or stylist tried to contact me!!! They showed my bald spot off, talked about my reaction with each other, charged me full price and then couldn't call to check on me? Horrible customer service and a complete disregard for your customer. read more

Both salons are upscale without the "upscale" pricing and the snobbery that I have encountered in some uptown salons. Great stylists, friendly owners and relaxed atmosphere. Well, I been to this Salon before and this is Second time and I saw Nancy and asked for layers cut!! After coming home I could see so many split ends and some left uncut and I am extremely felt bad but I make sure to get it corrected and I reached the salon for concern and the lady on the phone told me will pass the msg to owner and get back and it's been 4days I see no response and reply from either so thought of sharing my experience which make me extremely unhappy after being reached the salon over the phone. I scheduled a blow out appointment with the same person I see every time but was informed the day of the appointment that I will need to see another stylist because of schedule conflicts. The stylist assigned seemed off and not in the mood to work. She was done in 20 minutes with a blow out I didn't like at all. She rolled her eyes and three attitude like she is doing a favor when I told her I wasn't happy with the outcome. She offered to fix it by using a curling wand but was so disinterested in doing the job that I still left unhappy with messy hair. I did let the manager know I wasn't happy with the service and the response I received was: aww I am sorry. This salon is really clean and beautiful but I left after going in for a trim with my hair WAY shorter than I was comfortable with. She told me 2 inches but it's sooo much more than that unfortunately and I am devastated. I even said I would be upset if it was too short and that 2 inches kinda sucked and she promised me it would still be long. I really do not want to be dramatic but my hair hasn't been this short since middle school and I'm finishing college now. Also it's completely uneven and parts of the back are shorter than the front! I also felt really rushed when discussing my face frame pieces. I was told I needed to give a clear answer after saying I had an idea but I could also make those shorter if I wanted and she said no. I've always had very long hair so I'm pretty mortified. I haven't let my hair down since because I am so upset and uncomfortable with my appearance. I really just wanted to clean it up and leave with my hair not being too much shorter... I'll include pics of my hair last month, and now. Praying it grows back fast. This has got to be the worst haircut and color I've ever had.. went to super cuts to get it fixed because it was Sunday and I couldn't look at myself in the mirror. I looked like I had a blonde bowl on my head. There was no transition in the color at all and my hair looks very damaged. Now I have a pixie cut and at least it was somewhat salvageable. I will never go there again. I paid for a senior stylist. Can't imagine what an emerging stylist would do??! It was massively overpriced. I was referred to her and prayed a not so silent prayer she could do some corrective color and redeem the root situation. I scheduled my appointment online and they were able to provide an appointment quickly. I arrived for my appointment, and the salon staff was very welcoming. I was greeted by a couple of people, which was pleasant! Good customer service is rare these days. I met Courtney, my stylist, shortly after arriving. She took time to find out what I wanted and to figure out how the best method would be to gain the desired result. She provided a couple of options, and through discussion, we chose a plan. During this part of the service is where many stylists fall off. I have very thick and long hair. It's a chore to deal with. Courtney went through the process relentlessly. Spoke with Tracy the owner. Very nice lady. However they do not have regular Black customers and therefore they do not have the regular opportunity to cut Black hair. Their haircuts include the cost of shampoo and drying which can be problematic if they don't have the knowledge, experience, or products needed to care for Black hair.
