Was never informed that the person doing my hair was a higher educated person prior to getting my hair done, meaning I had to pay significantly much more. I asked why the price was more than it normally is especially for getting the same exact thing done to my hair that I always do and was told it was because a higher educated person did my hair, but I never knew that it would cost more or even that a higher educated person was doing my hair prior to that. And on top of that wasn't even refunded half of what I had paid. Before that all happened they also made me come back three separate times because they "didn't have enough time to do my hair." They did give me 30% off for one of the times that they made that scheduling mistake which I was appreciative for. But not when it continued to happen. read more

So sad with my experience. My first time here because we just moved to the area from South Park and I was looking for a few inches off and some nice soft layers. Well...that didn't happen. Paid $35 for this haircut...then $75 at another salon to have it fixed where they had to take me to a long bob to fix the chunky thick cut. I did my research for the salons in the area and this one was the cheapest, but you know the saying "you get what you pay for"....this def applies. My color and cut were decent, but the entire experience felt rushed and like I was a bother just being there. Both girls were nice, and yes 1 does the cut and another does the color; which is very odd to me. I didn't feel like a priority and the conversation was lacking. The owner saw us pull in and walked us into the salon to check us in personally. The receptionists were SO kind, happy and nice. A few minutes after we walked in Ali called for my daughter to come back. They offered us drinks, of course. Ali was knowledgeable, kind, friendly. The owner checked in on us several times. Been going here for the past 2 years and this is the one time I've had a bad experience. DO NOT RECOMMEND Sonya (a supposedly "senior" stylist) at all. Went in for simple 90s short layers, and she belittled me about getting my layers that short, saying it wouldn't look good on me despite me having had them in the past. Ended up cutting my hair the way SHE wanted (which was basically just a trim) & paid over $95 for my hair to look almost exactly the same, but with face framing pieces that are cut unevenly. Besides $100, I spent an hour getting my head yanked at and the sides of my face scratched with a comb. She also completely paused cutting my hair to speak to other customers TWICE, and then another time to put in an order for lunch. Won't be getting her again since every other stylist I've had was great. read more

If you're looking for a good salon to replace the one that you left behind when you moved to the Charlotte area (like I did), AVOID PLANET 21!! Although the place looks like a hip, NYC salon (along with its over-priced services), it definitely isn't! They don't listen to customer requests or apparently have the skills or ability to highlight medium brown hair without turning it brassy or orange--this is not a difficult request in 2018--with the newest hair color techniques and products. Instead, they turned my hair yellow & orange! And if you're unhappy or want it fixed? Expect MAJOR attitude--even after spending hundreds of $$; my hair still wasn't fixed after (and they charged me again!) It was still brassy but now more damaged afterwards! And since I still had the "nerve" to be unhappy about it, they told me to go somewhere else (which I did and they fixed it). Planet 21 salon is my favorite place in Charlotte! I have been coming here for 13 years and have never been disappointed with my hair or the service. Everyone here is so thoughtful, kind and accommodating to every need. The atmosphere is always relaxing and soothing. It smells wonderful too. They always offer snacks, candy, beverages including wine . There are many price levels and stylist, they cut hair and do color. I have lived in Charlotte for 17 years and tried other salons when I first moved here but after I found my home Salon I can't recommend this place enough!!! The owner is often seen cutting hair as well! This salon does exactly what you want and not what they think is best, they want you to feel beautiful/handsome and be happy with your results. I have been wanting to get my hair cut really short for a long time. Maybe for the past couple years... Anyway, I finally became brave enough to chop off my two and a half feet long hair off. The first time ever to be doing this, I was very nervous about finding a hair salon that worked for me. I found this place recommended by a friend. I will never go anywhere else as long as I live in Charlotte, NC. From just arriving there I was greeted by almost all the stylists and the receptionists were really great too. They even asked (the receptionist) what kind of cut I was going for and wanted to see the pictures I had picked out. They were very encouraging and excited to see the results. My appointment was with Jen Myers. (Her last name will be different soon, as she mentioned to me that she was getting married soon). Anyway, she was super great! Very nice and talkative and very informative. She let me know all of what she was doing before she did it, and asked my opinion on how she should cut it etc. and then showed me how to style each step. I felt very comfortable and excited as soon as she started. At first I was very nervous about getting ALL that hair cut off, but she made me feel right at home, and once it was done I was shocked at how amazingly different I looked and how good the cut was on me. It was awesome! I LOVE/LOVED it. Everyone in the salon loved it. Customer and stylist. I was very pleased with my brave choice. Nice fancy place. Didn't have to wait at all. Brief consult before a shampoo girl washes you and kind of just hangs around (maybe for a tip). Separate people cut and color so it's an all day thing. And I was a bit taken back by the cost. She spent 15 minutes total trimming my hair AND styling it. I was out the door for $65 just for a trim. I find that a bit outrageous. read more

I recently made an appointment at this Planet 21 Salon location for a highlight and trim. I have been on a mad search for a stylist like I previously had while I lived in Los Angeles. I took a tip from the owner of a near-by boutique and booked with Kali for color and Jay for cut. First off, the location is fabulous! The Fountains are a very nice location for a short day of boutique shopping, dining, and beauty services. The salon is decorated just like what you would imagine in an upscale LA Salon, complete with up-beat music and flat-screen tvs. The salon is just big enough to look extremely professional, but small enough to not be too itimidating. Overall, it has a swanky lounge vibe throughout. As for my highlights, Kali did one of the best jobs I've had in quite sometime. She's just incredible, and has personality for miles! My hair is a bright blonde color and when I left I felt like a real life Barbie doll walking! Jay did my cut (trim), and I felt like a complete different person when he was done! Suddenly, all my confidence had been restored and I was ready to take on the world! Price was moderate to expensive, but totally worth it! I paid over $130 for partial highlights, trim, and one product. They are very, very fast and will not waste your time or your day. This is the quickest and most beautiful highlight and cut I have ever received! I would recommend this location and these stylists to anyone looking for a new, hip look or even a new salon.
