For the longest time I struggled to find a stylist that I trusted with my hair. I've had a few hair stylist nightmares so I was super worried about finding someone new. I made an appointment with Karlee and crossed my fingers. I had pretty dark hair and wanted to go blonde. We knew it would take a couple sessions because it's almost impossible to go from cheap black dye to blonde in a single session. I ended up leaving my first appointment with a beautiful copper color and fell in love with it. I just stuck with it! Karlee is super nice and honestly a saint for putting up with me lol. I hope neither of us ever move because my hair is the best it's ever been and it looks gorgeous thanks to her! The salon itself is gorgeous and welcoming. The huge windows bring in a lot of light so when the weather is nice you really get to see how good your hair turned out. Also I know I'm not the only person that has left a hair appointment with a sore neck because the wash bowls have no support so let me just say their wash bowls are the most comfortable I've ever sat at. I'd leave another 5 star review just for that. I literally can't think of a single negative about this place read more

I had an amazing experience at Copper Willow! I got a partial balayage with Jenny, and from the beginning to the end of my experience was seamless. As a new client, I didn't realize that Copper Willow was a collective of individual stylists at first. However, their website does a great job at explaining what you have to do as a new client - figure out which stylist you want to see by going to their Instagrams, and then contact that stylist for a consultation. I had my consultation over text, where I sent pictures of my current hair, my 2 year hair history, and pictures of what I wanted to achieve. Even though partial balayages are usually not recommended for new clients, I think my desired hair color was a subtle enough change that it didn't require a full balayage appointment. The salon is located in a building with several different suites. There was free parking in the attached deck, and the suite was easy enough to find. The salon itself is beautiful, filled with huge windows, natural light, and really cute decor. Right now, everyone is expected to wear a mask. You sign in on an iPad at the entrance, and your stylist will come out to meet you after a couple of minutes. I showed the photos of what I wanted, and we decided on a subtle medium brown balayage on my black, undyed hair. My service included the balayage, a shampoo/condition/glaze with a head massage, a blowout, and a loose curl to style. In total, it took three hours. I absolutely loved my hair at the end! It was the perfect amount of color for me, and Jenny was so sweet during the whole session. We had great conversation and I felt so comfortable in the salon, especially since you're there for a significant amount of time! These stylists are booked out a couple months in advance, so definitely follow your desired stylist on Instagram for any last minute openings that might pop up. Guys I LOVE Copper Willow! I go to Christina for my cuts and color and she seriously blows me away every time. I'm always impressed with the level of detail she brings to making sure my hair is exactly what I want. I also see Taylor for brow waxing and tinting and honestly I'm not sure how I ever tolerated my eyebrows before seeing her, ha! We always have the best conversations and her work is so good. To add to that, I've been really impressed with how many precautions they're taking with COVID-19 to ensure their clients and staff stay safe during the pandemic. Beautiful salon! I love the decor and happy trendy vibe. I see Devan, who is amazing and does beautiful work. I often come in not quite sure what I'm looking for and Devan is able to (somehow!) decipher what I want and produce a beautiful result. I haven't worked with any of the other stylists, but they're all super friendly when I walk in and I really appreciate that! Taylor is such an artist! I feel so fortunate so have found a lash professional at such a high skill level! Nothing is cookie cutter. Each person receives an evaluation according to your lashes and receives beautiful results, without any damage to your natural lashes or the slightest hint of irritation to your eyes! So pleased!!! Taylor surpassed my expectations! Such a sweetheart too! Beautiful, yet natural lashes! I did not think it would be possible to have such a polished and pretty look without the irritation that mascara and liner caused my eyes. I was wrong. I have been going to Karlee for over 2 years now. Before I begin about her talent, she is just an overall sweet person who I enjoy seeing and catching up with during my appointments. I have followed her EVERYWHERE and when she landed at Copper Willow Salon I continued to go to her. Her ability to change my highlights based on the season is incredible. I love how she truly listens to me as a client and my hair changes with the season as opposed to previous salons where my highlights were bleach blonde all year long. This review is in regards to a horrible experience I had with different hairstylist named Kirsten. I communicated in the morning that I may be 15 minutes late with work. She said this should be fine but she had someone after. I said I'll try for the time we had planned. I communicated again that I thought the 15 min later would be when I could make it. She then said that my hair wouldn't be blow-dryed, and I would be charged a $20 late fee. When I arrived at the 15 min mark, I told her that she never communicated any of this during our first correspondence and she wouldn't listen to my concerns at all. I feel like she never acknowledged my concerns and talked over me when I asked her to communicate during our first correspondence the late fee and no blow dry. She then told me to leave. I have never in all my experiences with hair salons received such disrespect and having a late fee and a service taken away. I understand not having time for the blow dry which I completely understood, but to make a client feel so poorly when I've communicated during the day multiple times, is not right. I love this place! Jenny did an awesome job with my hair and really listened to my concerns. This was my first dye job ever and I have thick black hair. I couldn't have asked for a better stylist to do my hair and gave awesome recommendations for style/color/treatment. She even recommended pigmented shampoo to extend the longevity of my color. I basically sat down and told her to do whatever she wanted and I couldn't be happier with the result. I've gained so much confidence and have gotten showered with compliments since my drastic hair change. Also!!!!! STEVIE THE DOG. THE SWEETEST DOGGO. and Jenny has the cutest old timey playlist. My only complaint is that it was a little hard to find (it's in the suite with all the different salons). I went to copper willow for the first time in November 2020. I had a pretty terrible experience for a $315 price point. The back of my head turned orange while the front was silver and I had these chunky highlights. Instead of fixing it, the stylist did refund me. I had an appointment with a separate stylist that I was going to use to fix some of the issues. 24 hours before the appointment I got the reminder text, but I am just getting over covid and didn't want to put anyone at risk. I didn't cancel earlier because I was hoping to feel better and waited until I knew I had to. They charged me $161....and of course since part of the reason I cancelled is covid they wouldn't let me change my mind and come in anyway (because for $161 I would have sucked it up). I can see $50. I understand cancelling last second sucks. But it is a pandemic and I was trying to do what is right. I can't believe they would take advantage of their clients that way. I will never be back and everyone should be aware. read more

I am one of those clients that when I find the right stylist, I stick to them and follow them where ever they go. Which is why I followed Kathryn from OO to this salon. She has been cutting my hair for some time with good reason, she is fantastic. She takes the time to have a conversation, this ensures that you leave absolutely happy. Even this last visit, I swore I would make a change and through convo we mutually decided to wait until the hotter months disappear and reappear with a new look. I have curly hair so its not an easy task but she manages to always make my hair look and feel amazing. She also does my hair color and because I prefer the balayage technique, it doesn't require that I get it retouched as often. Her new work location is small, but has a very artsy modern, hobo sort of style. Its right across from the HT on East blvd, and has parking in the back of a shared commercial home. She makes appointments personally and works with your schedule, which is another perk, aside from just being fabulous. Can you tell I really like her?! I was extremely disappointed with my appointment with Jenny. I'd been trying to gradually lighten my dark blonde hair to a platinum tone (which I acknowledge didn't happen in one sitting) and I saw Jenny twice. I can't say exactly what process she used on my hair but it was completely destroyed. As in falling out of my head after the two appointments. I've done a lot of crazy things to my hair over the years (I'll admit both Manic Panic and Kool-Aid dye) but I've never had my hair fall out of my head after treatments. The other important thing I'd mention is that I was given a "toner" at the end of my second appointment that turned my hair blue. As in Carolina blue. Bright blue. Not anything that ever would fade to platinum. I walked away paying for multiple services, massive hair loss, and had to pay for another stylist to cut all the length I'd been working on growing because it was falling out of my head. Plus it wasn't exciting to leave the salon with light blue hair and have to go straight to my conservative job. I ended up cutting off all the length I'd grown to get back to anything healthy. I would not suggest this salon for anyone. Honestly. I've had bad haircuts and bad color, but I've never had anything so bad my hair fell out of my head and I had to cut off 6" to get back to healthy. read more

Brooke squeezed me in day of for a haircut. She did a fantastic job, cutting my hair dry, and then gave me one of the best scalp massages I've ever had, before styling my hair for me. I'm a non-practicing licensed cosmetologist so I know a good stylist when I see one work. Brooke is fantastic. She showed me the back twice (once straight and then again once it was curled). I usually have an old beauty school friend cut and color my hair, but I won't hesitate to use Brooke again in the future. read more

I don't usually write reviews but am so happy with my hair I thought I should! I'm naturally dirty blonde but typically do a lighter balayage. Ive never found a hair stylist I wanted to stick with as the results were never what I pictured or loved. I had a bad hair experience at the last Charlotte salon I went to so was hesitant to get my hair done again (I usually go a long time without getting it done for this reason). I showed Kathryn photos of what I was trying to accomplish and she advised me to do all over highlights instead of balayage in a warmer tone (I usually do icy blonde). I go to Kirsten and she is amazing. She just gets me. Some people don't realize that having dark hair is such an art. She has the gift. She never will push me towards something that isn't right. If I show her a picture she'll be honest with her feedback. Having dark hair I get bored often and she will subtlety change my fringe or add some brightness without totally changing my overall look. I was in the area for the day and decided to schedule an appointment for getting my roots done alone with some fire time tape in extensions. Scheduling was an absolute breeze and they were extremely accommodating to my schedule. The salon was decorated beautifully with fun little knick-knacks giving the space a ton of personality and an intimate feel. My stylist did an amazing job at matching my roots and blending and installing my extensions! I'm not sure what unicorn magic she put in my hair, but it was the softest that its ever been! Overall the service was outstanding and the attention to detail was truly impression (and I've been to A LOT of salons in NYC that claim that they're top tier.) Ladies, I would highly recommend visiting this salon for all your hair needs and I'm super picky! I have curly hair, short (pixie) cut, and I wear it naturally curly. The short of it: I had a really bad haircut with Jenny. I'm writing this review months after the fact because my hair is still growing out the "bad cut". I was genuinely surprised at how poor the quality was, so I feel I need to make a note of it for other curly girls out there. I just moved to the city and needed a new stylist. I came here because they had great pictures of their work and raving reviews, including one about short curly hair (a guy's). So I figured I'd give it a shot and support a small business. Having curly hair, if you cut a bit, it'll look like you cut a LOT. So, usually stylists (from my experience) take it easy with how much they cut. The good ones also pay attention to the curl pattern and cut accordingly. So, I was surprised at how quickly she chopped away at it. It was way too short. Which is fine, hair grows. However, it felt heavy and blocky because she just cut it straight. She didn't add layers either. I understand curly hair is difficult, but I imagined layering was a normal thing - whether you have curly hair or not - so I'm surprised I had to ask for it. So, I asked for a bit of layering. It seemed to me she was struggling to make that happen well, so I just let it go. I way overpaid. For this quality, I'd expect to pay a fraction of the price. I give two stars because the salon was cute and Jenny was friendly. I also take some blame for this as I could have been more diligent about my research because I know curly hair - especially short - is tricky. It seems clear that this is a great place to go for color or blow-outs - the pictures and reviews say it all! I just can't recommend it for cuts, and especially not for anyone who has curly hair. read more
