For those who have read my reviews. I did my review on Mariana when she was at Cutting Image Salon on E. Woodlawn awhile back.. But starting today, Mariana FINALLY went on her own. My view haven't change on how I feel about Mariana as a stylist.. She's on point with my haircuts. Never disappoint. She been cutting my hair for 3 years now. I'm alway happy after every visits. I know she have went to NYC for razor cutting class. Few more cutting classes at Loreal Academy. She's now a Loreal expert and that's the products they used at Loo Loo's Today she shaved my side again.. Also got the balayage highlights again. I'm not really sure what that is but have 10 weeks of not getting it done. People still like my highlights. All thinks I just got it done. Liz whose the other half of Loo Loo's is a certified Loreal Educator and took the same classes as Mariana. These ladies are good at what they do. They take pride in their works and willing to educate themselves to bring clients the best new techniques and the current trends. Liz is my hair goddess! I was recommended to go see Liz after a friend had told me all about her. I made an appointment immediately and was able to get in about 3 weeks later. I brought my clip in extensions with my and explained that I wanted them to be layered and cut into my hair style. She was able to cut them perfectly! Every time I leave there I feel like my hair has life again! Liz gives a great scalp massage. This is one of the best parts about visiting. They use Loreal products which they are really passionate about, but she'll also give you other product recommendations - which I appreciate. I love where they are located. The salon holds only two clients at a time, so it is a very personal experience. I really enjoy it. Liz is always SO sweet and remembers little details about her clients. It's really fun to go there. Mariana, her bestie and partner is usually there too and they are such a cute little bestie duo! I've been going to Liz for haircuts for a couple of years now. I'm so excited she's finally has her own place with such a wonderful partner! I found Liz while I was in the middle of a hair crisis from another stylist (dye job gone bad). She fixed me up and made me presentable once again. I wasn't living in Charlotte at the time so I ended up getting my hair cut by someone else (BIG MISTAKE) and a couple months later was knocking on Liz's door once again. This time someone had cut a huge chunk out of one side of my hair in a poorly conceived attempt at bangs. Liz sat me down in front of the mirror, started playing with my hair, and immediately asked, "So what happened here?" I LOVED that. She's very straightforward and real with you. She then did an awesome job of blending the chunk of hair into some new layers and over the next year or so helped me grow them back out non-awkwardly. At that point I decided she would be worth the drive and ended up commuting from Chapel Hill to Charlotte for my haircuts. I know it sounds crazy but she's THAT good (and Charlotte is a pretty fun place to visit too). Their new place in the Atherton Mills shopping area is super cute. It's right near Icehouse on South Blvd. While looking at the front of the building that faces the road, walk around the building a bit to the right and go in the side entrance. Their salon is directly inside. One more thing - I have always been told I have VERY difficult hair to cut. It's really thick and has strange cowlicks and whatnot. Liz thins it out just right and tapers the edges so I don't have a mop on my head. She is ridiculously good at what she does and will go back and change things up if you're not satisfied. I have difficult hair that I am meticulous about. My old stylist in Atlanta was so wonderful that I commuted 3.5 hours to get my hair done for a while after moving to CHarlotte. Mariana saved my life. My cut is on point - always. My color - I get compliments everywhere. I recently went to a really daring shade of blue (from brown highlights, which replaced an awesome ombre) and it looks like a million dollars. Mariana is amazing. I have thick curly hair which I use and abuse it to do un-natural things that look pretty, like blowing it out, flat iron or curling iron, and I color it regularly for longer than I care to admit to. All that said, I need to go to someone who knows how to work well with my type of hair and knows about color. I have jumped around from colorists and stylists, not many can do both, however, Mariana was fantastic. She blended in old color and the Balayage she did on my hair grew in flawlessly, got it done in March and we are now in July. I have gotten a toner in so that its not brassy but all that said, its been amazing and plan on going to her for my hair color and cut. As for the location, its in the Atherton Mill complex and is in a set suite inside of a bigger suite. Its got a very modern edge vibe. Very clean and well attended. But I am much more loyal to a great stylist who can make sense of my very difficult thin and fine hair than I am to a certain salon. Liz has been doing an amazing job with my tight curls for a couple of years. Not many people really know how to cut curly hair, so that is something special. She takes the time to understand what I am looking for and gives her professional opinion about my cut and color. I don't live anywhere near this salon but it is worth the drive! Just a side note- In the past, I had always experienced stylists either gossiping with each other or complaining about stuff when I'm getting my hair done. So, Liz. Liz is amazing. Not only because she has created fantastic looks with my hair, but because she is so flexible and accommodating. I met her after I had a "hair disaster" at another location. I was new to town, and desperately wanted to have my hair fixed. She saved the day. Liz always finds a way to squeeze me in when I have a last minute emergency (even if that means no blow dry), she's open to trying new things - she even cut and dyed a human hair piece I purchased! And quite well I may add. I brought my mother and she also did wonders with her hair. Conversation with these two ladies is always enjoyable and comes quite easy. Liz is the best colorist and hairstylist I have ever had in my entire life. She has been doing my hair since 2011 and I met her almost by accident at the place she used to manage - she saved my life when someone completely left me hanging for a 20 year HS reunion by fitting me in for a 3.5 hour appt. My hair had never looked better after she did it and no one will touch it again -she is the only person that had ever taken the time to really highlight it (not in huge striped chunks) as I have VERY thick and naturally curly hair and it can be overwhelming. I had been going to expensive salons before her and spending tons of money and leaving unhappy thinking that's just how it is. Every single time she does my hair I look like a million bucks and she literally makes my month. And sometimes I really need that little pick me up. She is very professional while also being nice and I like that she is a straightforward person- I trust her implicitly with my hair and I never thought I could say that again. She always gets the color exactly right and no one even KNOWS my hair is not natural. It's unbelievable to me. I cannot say enough. As for Mariana- her suite mate, she literally amazes me as I watch her transform people's hair from zero to 100 and makes them feel beautiful in the process. They are both excellent at what they do and they love it because it shows in their work. They are busy but always willing to help someone in need and fit you in-however they can. If you have difficult hair it does not matter- these ladies are patient and do their job with precision and integrity. And if I get home and don't like something- she will fix it in a heartbeat and I don't have to feel guilty asking for that (where other stylists would rather make you cry than admit they made a mistake). They have been on their own for a few years now and Loo Loo's is a wonderful place to go with a great location. South End has so much to offer.
