Delicious gluten free food. I love the flavor--it doesn't rely on sugar to cover up disgust tastes you often find in gluten free. The deserts especially are just good. Those on a GF diet for disease will be in Pastry heaven, and many desserts are paleo, making them less likely to pack on carbs, which pack on pounds. The one star is due to the most current experience I had with both the customer service and quality/price of the food. I never seen the freestanding store and was incredibly excited to try it. I've eaten scones and a couple of other pastries from elegant elephant that I bought at Kiva or the Saturday market. While not fantastic, being gluten-free I don't have many options. I was excited to try out the store hoping that there was going to be more options and a better experience. I happen to walk by and go in the store at 6:20 and saw that they close at 6:30. I popped my head,was super apologetic to the guy, -and just asked if I could grab something really quick. He mumbled "oh we don't close for another 10 minutes" but had the most unwelcoming face I've ever seen. His poor customer service continued as he looked down actually waiting for me to leave. I finally settled on a cupcake and he rang me up. He then asked my partner if he wanted anything to eat and I made a light joke about how my partner can have gluten, not me and he just glared at me. I hastily grabbed my cupcake and left. As for the cupcake itself, I was also so disappointed. I had asked the guy what flavor the cupcake was me and he told me chocolate. Upon taking a bite, I realized it was full of cinnamon. A Mexican chocolate cupcake is incredibly different flavor than a regular chocolate cupcake and the man at the counter failed to tell me that. I tried to eat the rest of my almost 3 dollar cupcake but couldn't finish because of the overwhelming amount of cinnamon in it. Overall I'm incredibly disappointed in my experience, in both the product and the customer service. I'm sorry but you lost a customer Elegant Elephant. read more

Best Banana Bread in the world!!! I so have missed that special loaf my mom used to make, and this is it--except it's also gluten free! How is that even possible?? I love it! I have purchased scones, apple pie, cream puffs, cookies. They are all very good. If I had one critique, it would be that some items are a smidge dry and many of the baked goods have a little too much sugar. I prefer a strong punch of flavor and just enough sweetness to balance the treats out. This is just a little too much sweetness for me. Elegant Elephant is completely gluten-free which is amazing for though of us with actual allergies! Their basic recipes (scones, cookies and brownies) are simple and amazing and seem to have started popping up in coffee shops and stores all over town, but their secret amazingness is in the "bakery boxes". They create bakery boxes that are a unique medley of savory and sweet gluten-free items, and you get one box a week. They contain anything from raw truffles to pretzels to allergen-free carrot bread. You can also custom order; they can do soy-free, corn-free, nut-free, dairy-free and even xanthan gum-free and sugar-free....simply impossible to find anywhere else. The owner is the sweetest and I cannot recommend them enough; I'd hire Elegant Elephant to cater any event or special occasion. read more

I bought a cinnamon roll from the market and it was pretty good. I also picked up a loaf of banana bread from Market of Choice and it was tasty as well. I am amazed at the variety of baked goods--we have been getting the deliveries for seven months and there is something new and wonderful every time! Some of my favorites (so far!) are: Chevre' Grape Sweet Potato Samosa, Strawberry Shortcake, Cheddar Corn Muffins, Beet Hazelnut Chevre' Handpie, and Brownie Bottom Raspberry Cheesecake. Yum! They don't have a storefront, but when I called to see how I could get some gluten free stuff, Julie told me she'd be at the Farmer's Market on Tuesday. I got there early to get the good stuff and loaded up on bagels, some kind of apple muffin, blueberry scones, banana donuts, and some bread. This lady is an angel. The bagles were the best bagels I've ever had, gluten free or not. They had the perfect consistency, the perfect sour flavor, the perfect texture, everything. The scones were absolutely perfect with giant blueberries in them and just the right amount of icing on top. The muffins had perfectly spiced and cooked chunks of apple in them and the consistency was more like a cake than anything else. It wasn't a cupcake, though, just the worlds best muffin. We ate everything the first day except the loaf of bread. It was that good. I've been gluten free for over 8 years now and this is as good as it gets. I've never experienced anything like this. You might have to wait to get what you want or order in advance, but trust me, this is well worth it. I'm going to have to control myself and not order boatloads of goodies again, but I couldn't think of a better way to treat myself than with these incredible pastries and breads. read more
