Started off great, but the nail technician cut my skin 3 places while buffering my nails, then put alcohol on the bleeding cuts SEVERAL times.. Then messed up the nail polish and used nail polish remember in the cuts a 3rd time. Adding pictures to show the terrible result. Absolutely awful experience, I went here yesterday to get a full acrylic set with two of my friends. We made an appointment for 1 pm, we got there right on time but we didn't even get seated till 1:20 pm. After finally getting seated I showed the nail tech a picture of a simple white french tip with a medium coffin shape. She applied the nail tips and got the cutting them down to size. She started cutting them really short and the whole time I was asking for her to stop and leave the length. At that point, I was done with asking and just left it and trusted her to make them just like the photo. Throughout the appointment, she kept getting mad at me for watching her do my nails and was telling me to look away. She finished my nails and they were absolutely atrocious, they were all uneven and not the same shapes, they were sticking up in the wrong places. I just wasn't happy with them. I paid for them and left. About 20 minutes later I looked at them in real light to see that there was hair stuck in my nails and nothing was dried correctly, so I called them and explained my situation. They asked me to come, we talked and I explained why I was not thrilled with the service, she proceeded to call me a liar and threaten me. She looked at my nails and just started ripping them off, she was hurting me. she did they soak off and sent me, to wash my hands. I called and made an appointment for Friday on Wednesday, for both of us at noon. My mom has NEVER had a pedi before. All the girls there were very kind and spoke wonderful English. The atmosphere was very calm with spa music. We had shellac done for our mani along with the parafin dip. Very nice. If I'm ever in need of a nail studio while I'm in Coquitlam, this is the place to go. One final tip, the street parking on the north west side of the corner is 2 hours free parking, every where else is pay parking. I've gone here many times and they seem to be going down hill! Last time my toes were so badly treated that I left with raw, painful cuts at the base of nearly every nail. When I asked my technician to go easier, she claimed it was "necessary". Blood is not necessary in any pedicure. I later got two infected toes. I chalked it up to a bad tech. This time I had a lovely tech who was very careful and attentive and yet two days later I have a full blown infected nail. This points to unclean / bad sanitizing techniques. I do not suggest anyone goes here until they clean themselves back up. read more

I just didn't want the conflict of complaining and having someone I just complained to huff and puff about fixing it. After treating so much toe nail fungus at our clinic I was very reluctant to go anywhere again for a pedicure. This place is conveniently located so I thought I would go in and see what services they had to offer and was very impressed with how spic and span the place was. I asked to see what their hygiene protocol was and without hesitation she took me in to the back and showed me the autoclave and uv light processors. All the utensils were individually wrapped and organized and not a spec of dirt or dust in the back room. All the pedi accessories were neatly lined up in both sterilizing units. All the equipment is brand new and the décor is tastefully done. I am currently booked in for a pedicure and I feel comfortable referring people to this location. Price points are around $20-$30 for manicure and about $35 for pedicure. The lady that I spoke to speaks perfectly clear English and is very professional. read more

About a week and a half ago I got shellac done and three to four days later my shellac was already starting to chip and peeled off which has never happened to me before. I was very unimpressed with the quality considering shellac has always stayed on for a solid week with no chips. I also got regular nail polish on my toes which started to chip instantly, i understand regular polish chips easily but I was better off doing my own nails which last longer when I do it myself. Another thing is I like my nails short and I always request short as possible and I've never had an issue with the nail technician, but at this location when I requested short as possible I felt like she was refusing to cut them short as possible. I don't care if they look better long it's not preference. If I request something I expect it be done without questioning my preference. A full blown infected nail on the other hand like my finger looked like a damn sausage it was pretty scary. Finally went down after soaking it in salt water multiple times. Had a set of acrylic nails done with gel colour. Paid $70 Very next day one snapped off. So I went back and they were rude and did not want to fix it. After a long discussion they replaced it....but when done it was a different shape and different colour...glaring mistake but they didn't care. Next day and for the week following the acrylics continued to break and come off. I have tried to reach the owner Amy several times and am told to call back at different times...each time they say she is not there call back at a different time. Total run around. I've had my nails done many many times and never had this much problem. Maybe this batch was old or something but no matter what the salon should care about customer satisfaction and stand behind their product. i went to elegancy nails to get acrylics done for spring break. i paid $63 for a full set (worst mistake of my life) as soon as i left the salon the nail polish smudged. then 3 days later at 10 pm, all of the nails snapped off in the shower and ripped layers of my nail off along with it. i called to ask for a refund due to my nails coming off and they said i should have called the SECOND they came off. i called the next day they came off when the salon originally opened, and now i have screwed up nails and i'm missing $63. if there was an option that i could choose no stars i would because this place is the worst salon in coquitlam. read more

Horrible! I have been here perhaps 5 or 6 times and I can't even begin to express how disappointed I am. I have always given Amy another chance because I liked how she handled her customer service, despite how every time something either took too long or they started late (which just a tip, they always start your service 20 minutes after your actual appointment so come late!). Today I went in for our appointment for two shellac pedis one French and one solid colour. My gf and I came in 5 minutes early only for them to start our nails at 2:55 instead of our 2:30 appointment time. After they began the pedis SHE BEGAN FILING OUR NAILS WITH USED!! USED NAIL FILES. My gf who is an nail technician herself (she can't do her own pedis and prefers to relax) had to call her out and tell her to go grab new files and that's a major health concern that is taught and regulated at all schools and Fraser health canada! GROSS! Broken down nails partials from another person, transferred on your broken skin, hepitits and fungus spreads like this! Not only did our pedicure take 1 hour and 45 minutes, I had to ask her to mid pedi (first foot) change from a French to solid because she has screwed up and redid my one foot FOUR TIMES! One of my feet (big toe) has a noticeable bruise from being over filed and buffed onto my skin. Not only after the appointment did we privately voice what had happened to us with Amy (hoping and judging on her usual manners she would understand) she began to argue in front of clients and it turned into an unfortunate display of customer service. She then over charges me, having to correct it (still $55.00 for a shellac pedi... WHAT A RIP OFF) but she basically told us that the reason the used an old file is to remove the previous shellac we had on, and justified herself by handing me my receipt. WARNING STAY AWAY! I will not be returning here again, what a disappointment as I have sent over 10 repeat clients there. This salon needs Amy back - STAT. WTF is up with the new manager?!? SOOO unprofessional, barking orders, scolding her staff right infront of the entire salon, pacing the place with her hands folded behind her back, putting EVERYONE on edge. All of the clients were shooting looks and eye rolls at each other, while reassuring the nail techs that they were doing fine. Seriously impossible to relax while this chick is hovering CONSTANTLY. This was such a pleasant experience. The salon was clean, nice bright light and large windows to let light in. The business had been opened for about 5 weeks. All of the staff were super friendly. I got solar nails done and eyebrow waxing. I was 100% satisfied and plan to return for a pedicure soon. And this will be my regular nail salon from now on. My bf surprised me with a couples pedicure and told me to find somewhere to get it done. I'm very particular in who and where I allow people to touch my feet (not a fan of fungus) After a lot of online research, I stumbled across this place and am damn glad I did. This place is incredible not only is the place spotless, everything is opened from a fresh sanitized pack in front of you. The staff is very welcoming, attentive and an added bonus everyone spoke proper English. I've only been to this nail salon once, and I'm only writing about that single experience. A group of us went in prior to a special event. I'm not writing as a whole experience - which was fine - I'm writing about the quality I received during my visit. We were all taken in right away and started on our pedi's. Now, I've only had 1 pedicure in my life, and that's my comparison. The tech went to work...soaking my feet, using the pumice to soften them, massage...all felt great. But when she was working on my feet with the tools, she was getting really aggressive. I pulled my foot away TWICE and said "ouch!", indicating that what she was doing was painful. So she switched toes, continued to work...eventually coming back. She held my foot so tight that she was pinching my toes...almost constantly. I mentioned to her it was a bit painful, but it was received on, what I can only assume was, deaf ears. Once that was done, we went over and had our manicures. That was fine, it was done just as quickly as our pedicures (good? bad? Either way..) but at face value, they looked fine. The polish was a little off, it wasn't properly layered and you could see where the polish 'bunched' and had much more in spots on my nails. As I look at them today, there are tiny bubbles coming through the polish - you can't see it from a distance, but for the price I would have assumed that wouldn't happen. But what I didn't realize until after I left, was that one of my big toes was infected. It flared up and got very red and was painful to walk around. I got my nails done 3 days prior to writing this review, and my toe still hurts just as much as it did the morning after. I'm trying to care for it, but it's a slow road to recovery. I'm positive it came from the tech that rushed through my pedicure with her tools. This place, to me, felt very "get in, get out" ...very rushed and there was no talk between me and my nail tech, she had no interest in her client whatsoever. I don't enjoy being "stabbed" in the skin beside my nail, so I won't be returning to this salon, nor will I recommend it to someone else. read more

My girlfriends and I wanted to have a girls' day and decided on getting a pedicure. Really enjoyed the massage chairs and was satisfied with the establishment's level of cleanliness. We were looking forward to a relaxing time, but were disappointed with how our estheticians rushed through our appointments. Ive been here a few times trying to give this place a second or third chance but i will not be returning after my last appointment. My friend and I booked an appointment ahead of time for a pedicure together. When we arrived on time for our appointment we were told we would have to wait 20 mins if we wanted to be seated next to each other. Not a big deal, however the technicians were then rushed to finish our pedicure in the remaining time, she didnt even wait for the polish to dry before adding other coats so that by the time i arrived home the job was very thick and bubbled looking. Additionally once the technicians had finished working on us, noone ever returned to us to give us back our things or tell us we were okay to leave as they had already moved onto another customer. The new hipster wannabe receptionist at this salon is INCREDIBLY rude and terse. Not quite sure if she feels bitter because she does not possess the same talent as the other staff, or if she simply was born with a stick up her ass. All staff, minus her, are very kind, patient, knowledgable, and talented. The tools used are always new for each client and clean. Nail art is done meticulously. They can do almost any design you can think of! The interior has an organized layout. Will return here only because of the wonderful staff EXCEPT the receptionist. read more

What was once i place I loved to go to has steadily declined in quality over the past year. I believe the owner aims to get as many people in the door as possible, which is fine. except when the clients who have booked are stuck waiting 20+ minutes for their appointment. When it comes to booking, it's chaos. Neither myself or my friends have ever gotten in on time. Fine, that's nothing to write a review about. But the quality of the work on the nails is. And it's not where it once was. In one week, my acrylic nails with gel overlay chipped. The entire perimeter of the nail chipped. Four days later, my nail had a hair-line fracture. Next day, fell off. Requested to come in at any time to get it fixed. Was rudely told no. Asked to come in during the week, and they would not accommodate me. I'm a regular client who has come in for more than two years. "But, this is a one-off thing," you could say. No. It's not. My nails crack and chip every time I have filled them for the last 8 months. I continued to go because there were not that many options available to me. I'm an easy-going client who tips well and aims to be as flexible as I can be, but enough is enough. Fortunately, there is a new nail place just down the street. Looks like I know where I'll be going. I look at the other reviews and I'm hard-pressed not to agree. That's the salon I used to frequent, but it's not the Elegancy Nails i've experienced the last few visits. Shame. read more

I had a pretty good time in the salon itself, although my nail tech did not speak English! I got shellac done and it was super smooth and lovely. For the first day I was loving it but already by the next day it was chipped and starting to lift. It took her almost 10 minutes to find the polish I chose! My cuticles were cut nicely but not nice enough for three stars. It was my first experience and will be going back to see if it was a one time bad experience. I wouldn't recommend for my friends to go here and don't recommend for you either. The nail salon was very clean and calming and the staff although not speaking English were okay not super friendly or nice and they kind of assumed you would know what your doing with out saying anything at all, for example she put the un light down plugged it in and jut sat there... until looking up at my and pointing at it. This was our first visit to Elegancy Nail Studio. I made an appointment for my daughter and myself for pedicures. The receptionist asked what we wanted and I stated that we wanted the basic pedicure. The pedicure was good, and then they put a mask and warm towel on our feet. We wondered if that was part of the basic pedicure, but didn't know as we had never been there before. When we went to pay she said it would be $50 each, but we said we asked for the basic one. She asked the owner who was doing nails on another client and she sneered at us and made me feel uncomfortable. She hemmed and hawed for a bit and then said go ahead and let them pay $35. I told her she could ask the employee that I first spoke to and she didn't bother. She proceeded to speak under her breath about us to the client she was working on. I went on the weekend as a treat for myself. I usually get a mani/pedi before a vacation or a holiday. I had been here once before and didn't remember anything negative so I thought I'd try it again. I got there early to look at designs they can do and pick something out, This time it was obviously the manicurist was new. They tried to rush me into the chair and I tried to explain I wanted to see the designs and polish they had. Unfortunately that was not an English phase she was used to so we had a problem. I gave up and chose a colour and sat down. I noticed others were being offered water and tea but not I. The pedi was good, minus the drawing of blood on one big toe. She took her time but was clumsy she dropped several of her instruments while doing the pedi. Then she moved onto the mani, she left me still sitting in the foot spa chair, even though I mentioned it was getting uncomfortable. I saw others being moved to the mani tables. But I remained sitting there for 2 hrs. During the mani she calapsed the side table twice that my arm was resting on dropping her instruments. While she was applying the colour the owner or manager let her know the next client was waiting. She continued but at a much faster pace. Then she got up and went over to the mani table to the next client. She said nothing to me. I wasn't sure what to do so I thought I must need to sit here and dry and she'll come back. After several minutes another staff came over and asked if they could help me ?? They sat me at the table with the nail dryers and said to give it 5-10 minutes to dry. After 10 minutes I decided to stand at the front table and see if someone wanted to take my money. This was a frustrating experience not the relaxing spoiling I was looking for. On the good side she did a good job, minus the one bleeding toe and one thumb. When I phoned they said it would be $50, I had one snowflake hand drawn on one finger of each hand which brought it to $63 with tax. The place doesn't have a lot of parking but it's very clean. It looked like others were getting the relaxing experience I had wanted so I wouldn't count this place out. But they should tell you when you get there that they are giving you a new person.... or charge you less for not getting the whole experience. I have mixed feelings. read more
