My recent visit was like all the others, easy as a breeze and at great prices. Yes, it is on Avenue Road next to Pusateri's and looks very high end, and indeed sells a lot of high end lighting, but they also sell lighting fixtures for those of us with smaller budgets. If you just walk in, you can get lost and overwhelmed with the choices, there is everything you could ever want and more. However you can check out their website and pick some options before going to the store, or better yet their current flyer with great deals and specials and have a good idea what you want before you get there. Bonus! Royal Lighting has tons of lights in stock, so if you need to get some new lights up quick, you don't have to wait for them to be shipped, just go and pick them up on the spot! My sales rep Raj, who I have been dealing with since 1995, is great and I highly recommend him... so friendly, so helpful. Another great bonus! Almost all the lights I purchased were made in Canada... something you won't see at Home Depot and the other big box stores where everything is made in China or the US. Shop Canadian, shop Royal Lighting, you won't regret it.

They ask if you need assistance and if you decline or say "just looking", they leave you alone to shop. While their selection is not as huge as Universal Lighting, Sescolite or Union Lighting, their prices are cheaper when compared to those other stores. Yesterday, I was on a mission to find a light fixture for an upstairs bathroom. I visited: Home Depot, Lowes, Sescolite, Union Lighting, Universal Lighting, Royal Lighting and a few others scattered on Cartright, and Panet. Spent at least 3 hours looking at lights until a total state of confusion sunk in. I found a light fixture I liked at Panet and comparison shopped at the others but ended up returning to Panet as the price could not be beat. I've purchased the majority of the light fixtures in my home at this store and have found their quality, price and staff to be some of the best out there.

Sadly, over the years we've had some issues with the switch. We've tried to fix it ourselves and we suspected it needed a whole new socket. We attempted to dismantle it to no avail and I had even tried to find somewhere to take it but didn't have much luck at the time. I knew it was going to take forever to find it's equal. It had taken us ages to find this lamp and I was sad to think that it had seen its last days. In one last ditch effort, I searched again for a company that we might be able to take it to... and I found Ajax Lighting. I gave them a call and they said to bring it in. It has a beautiful oil rubbed bronze finish and I'm not going to lie, I was a little worried it would end up getting scratch but a few days later, I had it back and it looks and works perfectly! We were in the process of stucco removal at the sametime so wanted to have it done all in sequence. Umar was helpful in walking us through the process and we decided to go with him for the job after several quotes with other contractors. Needless to say the potlights look great and are LED!! Also found out we needed to run a new line to handle the new load something the other contractors failed to mention. Will definitely recommend him to all my family & friends. We came here to get…read moreinspiration and to check out some lighting IRL instead of just me imagining through Pinterest. We wanted some statement lights over our dining table and kitchen counters. I don't understand why there are such low ratings here. I'm sure many people here are just browsing, and I rather have a sales rep give us the space and only come to us if we need help and seriously find a piece we're considering. So I have no issues with how no one really came up to us. There's a lot of lighting, but personally, not enough contemporary/modern lighting to our liking. We did take some pictures of the few we liked that are more contemporary-inspired. However, we don't love it enough to pull the trigger. The prices for the lighting are very high for the ones we looked at, about $1500 (for that round chandelier) to $5600 (Criss Cross silver lighting). We liked the look of the round chandelier the most. To our surprise, our neighbour has the same one. So loses that unique appeal. Also don't know how we would change the light if it burns out? Lighting is all personal preference. This trip nothing really screamed "this is the one" for us. If you're into other design themes like traditional, industrial, mid-century modern etc, you may find there is more to your liking than the modern/contemporary styles here. I still recommend to check it out though for yourself if you're in the market for lighting.
