I have been shopping at Royal Lighting before Yelp existed, so I forgot to do a review of the best store in the city to buy lighting fixtures! My recent visit was like all the others, easy as a breeze and at great prices. Yes, it is on Avenue Road next to Pusateri's and looks very high end, and indeed sells a lot of high end lighting, but they also sell lighting fixtures for those of us with smaller budgets. If you just walk in, you can get lost and overwhelmed with the choices, there is everything you could ever want and more. However you can check out their website and pick some options before going to the store, or better yet their current flyer with great deals and specials and have a good idea what you want before you get there. Bonus! Royal Lighting has tons of lights in stock, so if you need to get some new lights up quick, you don't have to wait for them to be shipped, just go and pick them up on the spot! My sales rep Raj, who I have been dealing with since 1995, is great and I highly recommend him... so friendly, so helpful. Another great bonus! Almost all the lights I purchased were made in Canada... something you won't see at Home Depot and the other big box stores where everything is made in China or the US. We would rate them 6 stars if it were possible. Right from our walk around in the store, through our initial purchase and after-service care, we were impressed with the high level of service and the lengths they would go through to ensure we were happy. After spending about an hour with a very knowledgeable and patient sales lady who took the time to inquire about our specific layout, we selected 4 lights for our new condo. Immediately the sales lady went to the owner (without our request for discount) and asked for a reduction in the price, which he did. We brought the 4 lights home and attempted to install all 4 ourselves. We successfully installed 2, had difficulty with the third, and accidentally broke (totally our fault) the fourth light. We brought the damaged light back to the store with the expectation of having to pay to fix or buy a new light. We met with the original sales lady who spoke with the owner. He said they could not return it to the manufacturer due to the damage being our fault. Additionally, the damage was pretty severe and it was doubtful the light could be saved. The sales lady said she and other staff would do their best to get it fixed or replaced. We were blown away when she notified us that we would be receiving a brand new light to replace the one we broke at zero cost to us! But our story doesn't even end there. Because we were afraid to mess up the installation a second time, the sales lady recommended a person that would come to our place and install both lights for a very reasonable fee. In short order, the person showed up and installed both lights quickly and professionally. Now our condo looks as bright as the folks who work at the store. We would totally go back to shop for any lighting needs we have in the future and HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who is in the market for new lighting. If you can't find what you like here, then it hasn't been invented. This is the best selection of lighting I have seen anywhere. I purchased and outside ceiling fan for my pergola and can't wait to try it. Service was excellent and they even offered to carry my purchase to my car... ...sweet! We purchased the majority of our lofts lighting from royal lighting back I 2010 when we were renovating. The store is quite large and has a variety of styles ranging from traditional to modern. Better take some time to really look especially if you're looking for ceiling mounted lights as there are a ton of different styles mounted to their ceiling which makes it easy to overlook certain models. Our sales person was very helpful in spending time confirming our selections were in stock, and them ready for pick up in about 20 mins. We had no issues with installation of our lights and would gladly recommend royal lighting based on their service and selection. read more

Wow, the lighting on display and the availability of product is one of the best on the city. I shopped many stores all over the GTA and this place hands down has the best product. The prices are similar to most stores but if you hit a sale then you will be happy. The service can be a bit spotty and leaves you wanting more since the staff are very distracted focusing on many customer rather than just you. read more

Firstly, the salespeople there go above and beyond regular service. Let's face it. Covid has not made it easy for anyone to shop but the staff at Royal lighting and the the protocols instilled by the store make you feel comfortable , safe, and looked after. The selection is phenomenal and the guidance and knowledge of the staff are superb. I feared that my lights which were being shipped from the US would not arrive in time. I spoke with the manager, Cortney, and she went over and above my expectations of dealing with the possibility of a very delayed shipment. I received a call instantaneously from her assuring me that my order would be shipped and ready by the end of the week. Originally I was told it might take a month. This is just one of the things this store does to assure customer satisfaction. They also price match which is incredible. If you are looking for fixtures, save yourself time and money and definitely try here first! read more

I bought several light fixtures for my new condo from Royal Lighting on Avenue Rd. I had a problem with one of the fixture. Sarah helped me resolve the problem without any hesitation. Not only did they replace the fixture of my chose, she also had an electrician come to my condo at no cost to me to remove and replace with new fixture; now that is real "service". Would like to express my gratitude to Sarah for such an excellent service provided to me. For life, Royal lighting is my choice of lighting store and highly recommend not only for unique service but also there is a vast selection of light fixtures. Well I have made many trips to Royal Lighting (frankly, the majority of the lights in our last two houses have been from there) and they are truly deserving of kudos for each of the trips. But, let's focus on the latest trip. Off we went from the country to the city for some sparkle and mid century flair for our latest reno project, a guest bathroom for our weirdly wonderful mid century modern, straight out of California, eichleresque farm property. Yep, farm. So think chickens, chihuahuas, big dogs, horses, cats and a pig...mid century style. Anyway, the point is quirky...we're quirky. And Royal does a great job with us in all our "Q" ness. We said, mid century modern bathroom sconce, Mike said, this one...and it was perfect. We said, need kitchen pendants, vaulted ceilings , strange angles, no attic space, Philomena said, these ones...perfect again. What about a mirror, we said...well, you get the picture. Oh, by the way, we said, I broke the shade on a light like this one (pointing at ceiling), any chance of getting another? Philomena says, tell me the size and I will get you one. And then there is the payment part...a discount here and few extra LED bulbs and we are gulp, happy about parting withour credit card.Anyway, our little city trip for a sconce turned into yet another great Royal visit. The five stars is for service - while I would give 4 stars for selection. We purchased all of our light fixtures at Royal Lighting a number of years ago and now come back most often for light bulbs - which was our recent purchase of a few weeks ago. We only spent $50 but were treated with outstanding service. The staff are professional, courteous, helpful, and really value their customers. Plus - there is a great selection of light fixtures.
