We searched the internet, Yelp and came across Fox Valley Bathtub Refinishing. We called and spoke with Bryan, very helpful and personable. I sent him pictures of our vanity top and within 1/2 hour, he sent us a quote. Cost was over half off compared to what it would have cost to replace the top. We also wanted a "non-slip" coating put in our shower base/pan. He came out, spent 4 hours refinishing the vanity top and putting a non-slip coating in the shower....true craftsmanship!!! The shower pan is absolutely wonderful, no more slipping around and the vanity top looks like new!! Can't tell you how happy we are with Bryan and Fox Valley Bathtub Refinishing!!!

I would not recommend using Haugland Bros. Carpet & Wood Care, Inc. I had Mr. Haugland come out on…read moreOctober 12th to give me an estimate, which he did and I attached in a picture below. It was the most expensive of 3 estimates we received to do our floor at $1,195 to do 325 sq feet. We had estimates as low as $750. Our floor was actually in fairly good condition but had spots like I attached that I wanted sanded, filled if that didn't work, and then sealed. We want to sell and I wanted the floor to be in good condition. We went with Mr. Haugland's company because he was very professional, had good reviews, and even showed me pictures of the men who would be in my house. The men whom would be completing the work came in on November 4th, 2017 at 8am. They got the key from our neighbor, since I have two small children and you need to be out of the house. They spent 4 hours doing the work per our neighbor. He said at 11:45, one of the men came over to tell him they were doing the sealant and almost done. 15 minutes later brought the key back. We came home at 2pm the next day, since we had to stay off the floors for 24 hours. Upon getting home at first glance the floor looked nice. Upon further inspection the dark spot on our boards and holes/knicks in the wood were not fixed. The only reason I wanted our floors fixed was to fill the knicks/holes professionally. I wasn't unhappy about the color just the knicks. I immediately called Tim on a Sunday, and he did call back. I was impressed by him calling back, I was upset on the phone and he assured he or his men would come out on Monday. And I emailed him my concerns and pictures. Tim informed me that we had the thinnest veneer wood there was and they were lucky to be able to the job. He also said that our subfloor being level was the only reason they were able to do it. He also said the dark spot would not be able to be fixed even though its outlined, "Boards with dark stains not removed by sanding will be replaced." He said because of my subfloor this was not possible. On Monday the workers came back to fix the floor with a towel and minwax, they left us the can. They did not seal over the patches. They also told my husband they almost walked away because of our wood. I was using minwax prior to having the floor done, as you can see with the spot I included in a picture that they sealed over one of my patches. When my husband called Mr Haugland back he said we never told him about the spot so basically he wasn't doing anything about it and to enjoy the floor. So the entire reason I agreed to invest $1,195 in my floor could have been fixed with a bit of time and a $2.48 can of putty since the stains could not be fixed. I fully understand that aome things can't be fixed, but upon entering my home and realizing they couldn't sand down the spots I wanted fixed and chose not to fill the holes/knicks prior to putting on the satin finish, and the inability to fix the stained spot. I would have thought we would have received a call to confirm we still wanted the work done, but we didn't receive a call. But we did get fully charged.

I've been thinking of remodeling my kitchen for at least 10 years. The process started by sitting…read moredown at Lowe's with one of their kitchen designers and getting a free layout and cabinet estimate. Over the next 10 years I took that Lowe's layout to no less than a dozen cabinet companies to get their pricing. The pricing always came in around $10,000+ (except for one importer who sold cheap, rather than good cabinets in a limited number of styles and colors. None of which we liked.) Then a month ago, driving north on Gary avenue in Carol Stream I just happened to spot this place and thought I'd try again to price out the Lowe's design because we were now ready to do something. I went into the place and immediately started walking around. I didn't wait for a sales person because I wasn't sure if I'd like the place and didn't want some fast-talking salesman to start accosting me for my business. I'd looked for a few minutes before I was approached by Jim, a pleasant older gentleman. He was nice so I told him what I was looking for and we casually discussed a few options. I told him I had the Lowe's kitchen design and he said he'd be happy to price it out with the cabinets I liked (he didn't want to see their pricing). I emailed him the design minus the prices and he came back with some design drawings. We talked some more over email and I asked him to stop by my house to see my kitchen. He did and we had a great conversation and we got ideas for other ways to do the kitchen. After looking at the kitchen, Jim put together everything we liked, added in the monthly manufacturer promotions, and ended up THOUSANDS less than any other quality cabinet place. So today we visited the showroom to go over every part of the cabinet order before putting down a deposit. After all was said and done, even after we added many pullout drawers, did some upgrading and getting some trim pieces (not on the original Lowe's design), he beat my 10 year old barebones Lowe's kitchen design price by over $1,500! I can't recommend Jim and this place strongly enough. (I'll let you know if things don't go smoothly once we receive the cabinets.)

I hired Second Chance (Patrick O'Connell) for fire-damage cleanup and rebuilding at my rental…read moreproperty, and the experience was extremely disappointing. I paid two deposits -- roughly $25,000 for cleanup and another $25,000 toward rebuilding. Before signing, I specifically asked whether the tenants' belongings would be included in the cost, and was told they would not be charged to me. I have this in writing. I was also told verbally that this would be handled as a full-service job since I live out of state and couldn't manage it myself. After the second payment, I was informed certain portions of the project -- including electrical work and the kitchen rebuild -- would not be handled after all. From there, the project became increasingly hard to manage and communication broke down. Despite what I was told, I was charged over $6,000 for work involving the tenants' belongings. Several other billed items also didn't match what I found on inspection: stains still on doors, windows that hadn't been cleaned, bathrooms that didn't appear cleaned, and painting that looked incomplete or poorly finished. I had to dispute multiple charges, including one for AC cleaning that was ultimately removed -- which raised real concerns for me about the accuracy of the billing overall. Beyond the direct costs, this situation led to lost rental income, an ongoing tenant situation, and repeated trips back to the property to sort things out. I also had an interaction with Patrick that I considered threatening, which I reported to law enforcement. I have documentation, photos, messages, and billing records supporting all of this. I'm sharing my experience so other property owners can do their own due diligence -- the sales process was far better than the actual execution, communication, and billing turned out to be. I wouldn't hire this company again, and I'd strongly recommend getting scope of work, pricing, and every charge confirmed in writing before paying anything.

Stay away. Read the owners response to bad reviews (yelp or google) he argues with all customers…read more That says a lot. Professional companies do not do this even if they believe they're correct. When trashing drywall and materials as expected, they were not supposed to trash anything personal. When the trash bags were outside we found a trophy, old family photos, blankets, medals and more (some in photos). I don't know if I missed more, I hope not. Owner claims we are liars and did not look through bags. I attached camera proof of me looking through the trash because of this. Don't know why he would think this is a lie because I can prove I did. Company showed up announced last day to pickup machines, 2 hours after scheduled time. Owner claims we "screamed and called them names," during this interaction. We have cameras and this encounter on video. No voices were raised or names called. That is pure slander and untrue. Company would leave after 2 hours of work and say they need to return next day (more than once), after you've already taken the day off. I have filed a complaint with the BBB, owner responds, said I called him/his company names, yelled, was "abusive", that I messaged him on weekends, and much more. All of these things are slander, I was nothing but kind to them. Phone records, cameras, and photos prove I have never called this person on a weekend and his other claims are lies. Company does messy work, randomly will damage things (shown in photos). Mold inspector said he can tell his work was not properly contained, this is a health risk. He also said 8,316 dollars is ridiculous for what was done. I showed company owner black mold on baseboards prior to work (pictures show). It was left and my home has failed the 2nd (final) test. Owner had a problem with us keeping our animals locked away during work. We made sure we were home and told him many times to let us know when they need to enter that room with the animals for work, they failed to ever inform us when they want to enter the room and then blamed never getting to it on us. Company left our front and back door wide open for extended periods, as long as 3 hours sometimes, for anything to get in. Owner claims he knew the first air test would fail and I wasted my money. I have a message from him on 01/15 of him claiming otherwise, I will attach it below. After feeling the work was done (shown via text), an air test failed, and owner claimed he absolutely never thought the work was done. Another example of random unprofessional lies. After this test fail, owner said our bar NEEDS to be gone to pass. So I allowed him to rip it up, re clean basement and tested again. Test failed again, so the bar is gone for nothing. I hardly spoke to his employees besides an occasional thank you, and owner says one "quit because of me." Then he said he fired one over me. Thy makes 0 sense. Company unplugged our basement fridge and we didn't notice for days. I asked them to please leave original doors and frames, they ripped every single frame up anyway. I would've allowed them to if they told me they needed to. Owner said we had a pipe leak. Within 24 hours I had a plumber out who fixed it. Later on owner claimed we "had a bathroom flooding the basement and argued with him about it," this is an example of the owners slander. I can prove I had a plumber there asap and never argued so I don't understand the random lies. This review is to warn.
