Really happy with the result (sorry I don't have pictures). We bought an old home in Oak Park and the tub was a mess. We thought it was just dirty and uncared for, so we tried everything including a cleaning service, with no luck. We decided to have it glazed and they did an amazing job. RED FLAG: I didn't even want to give them a one star that's how disappointed I am. Had my bathtub refurbished with Cutting Edge on August 25, 2025. Thank god I have an extra bathroom with a shower cause we have not been able to use the bathtub since August. If it wasn't that the paint was smudging and not drying properly. This has been a total nightmare. Then everytime the tech needed to come back and redo the job he always had excuses or I had to rearrange my schedule with his thinking that it was gonna get done properly. Now I have to find someone else to redo my bathtub. I don't think the tech knew what he was doing. The tech left my bathtub looking dull and did not put enough glaze hardener for the paint to dry. You would thin with all the times we called that there was problem they would send a different tech. My husband is diabetic and I will not let him use that bathtub until it gets properly done. Hopefully I can find someone that knows what they are doing and I will be out more money which is ashame. read more

We hired this group 4 separate times to refinish tubs in our rental units. All looked excellent upon completion. However, the one star review is because one of the tubs has peeled after only two years. When we asked for repair under "lifetime" warranty, they asked us to send a picture and from this picture Cutting Edge determined that the damage was done by a shower mat (?!?!) and therefore declined to repair under the warranty. There is a standard shower mat in the tub (which was put in use one year after the initial refinishing). From our experience, they have no intention of honoring their warranty. read more

I'm so surprised to read all of the positive reviews. But good for cutting edge! Maybe my experience is just an outlier. But we hired them to refinish our tub with a nonslip bottom. They were prompt and clean. However the tub is not nonslip and the overspray is terrible. When I called to reach out to the owner to see how we could move forward, he only text me and "said what's the issue?" I took pictures and sent them to him. He asked me for my address, but I've never heard back from him and that was three weeks ago. Although the overspray is terrible, I need to do my entire bathroom anyway. That's why I reached out to him. I wanted him to come back and redo my entire bathroom. But I also wanted him to see the overspray. Because this company has received so many positive reviews. I will chalk my experience up to an outlier. I hired another company, Chicago porcelain, to come and complete my bathroom. read more

This service is quick to respond and complete the service. I would say that the refinishing quality was so-so compared to other services we had. Some caulking came off and someone was sent to fix it quickly. A year later - we had some chips and wanted to follow up on the warranty. The owner was unpleasant and curt in his communication via text. Made us feel awful about the issues and would repair for a fee. Even if there were things for us to have communicated sooner; that is no way to speak to a customer. I wish I knew more people who needed bathtubs redone/glazed as I want to give this company as much business as possible! They were amazing. Got my tub done like 3 days after I first sought quotes. I asked about 10 companies for quotes and they beat all the competitors by miles. They were $510 cheaper than my most expensive quote! The glazing comes with a 5 year warranty and they were super communicable, professional and went above and beyond filling in some extra spots for us. They will match any legitimate competitors price, and they were so good that even if you get a better price from a different company (unlikely) you should still just send your quote to them and use them since they will match it! read more

The price for reglazing my tub and the tile wall around the tub was a bit pricier than most other places I inquired but they replied back to me very quickly and it was easy/quick to schedule. The finished product was okay/not bad except I noticed some detail issues when you look closely (see pictures; some areas of coating wasnt so smooth etc). In addition, they chipped some painting off of my wall without telling me (see pictures) and now I have to figure out how to paint my wall. Overall I would rate them 3.5/5. read more

Wojtek drives the Subaru Baja with a tub model on the back. I swa the car at HD and decided to use his service. He quoted me $550 and just upoc coming he requested $600. I've told him the price was ageed upon already. He started to prepare the tub at about 10:30 and finished spraying at abot 2:00. I saw a white tub finished and wanted to take a closer look, but he said: you need to keep the door closed and not do anything for 24 hours as the paint needs to dry. He wanted to be paid in cash. The next day I checked the tub and found unpatched holes ond the paint running in two very visible places. I called him and said that the tub must be retouched and first he agreed to come back the next afternoon. Then when I called if he's coming, he accused me of calling him names and that the running pait spots were already present on the tub befor he started to prep the surface.. He's not picking up phone and doesn't respond to my text messages. Rude and very unprofessional service. This guy wants to make good money bearly communicating in English and he obviously does terrible work! Stay away!!! read more

I reached out to Cutting Edge via a contractor, and initially, it was hard to pin them down. Whoever picked up the phone was a bit gruff. However, once I scheduled everything, the refinisher they sent was great! Eric did a wonderful job refinishing the tub in under two hours. He was very friendly and efficient. The fumes are a bit intense, but my bathroom doesn't have windows, so that's that. Eric didn't leave any boot footprints on my bedroom carpet and was very careful, so I really appreciated it! read more

It's not been 6 months and the tub is pitting in multiple spots. The less than enthusiastic and professional caulk job is already peeling. This is shameful quality. For a little over an hours worth of work it was $340-that seems a bit overpriced to me. The tub looks great though and the process was simple. Technician arrived promptly and was thorough. The smell only lasted about a day and that is with AC on and windows closed due to temperatures outside. The only issue is that if you want it caulked (which I was told was included) you risk getting fingerprints in the reglazed tub. I declined because i didn't want to risk messing it up. Tony needs someone else to handle his customer service. I'm sure the work they perform is nice, that's why I called, but we won't hire him based on how short fused he is. If he speaks this way to potential clients I can only imagine the way he would act if I needed to contact him for post installation work to correct if future unforeseen damages should arise. Based on our phone call I feel he's the type who would later throw any installation errors back on me as my fault. His website offers competitors price matching. He quoted me $1,200 originally and commented he was running that price as a special. It was the highest quote I received. I was quoted $900 by another company. He said he would honor the price and then later backed out of price matching saying it's not the same process. I understand we mostly get what we pay for so I then asked him to please walk me through the process so I can understand and be prepared for what services are and are not included. He began to yell at me for price gouging. Ignoring my request. Told me to just trust him because he knows what he's doing. He then said good luck with the other guys and THEN starting trash talking the other companies. I get it, I own a company too, I have my feelings, but I would never speak the way he did to me to a potential client. I'm also an expert in my field who wants to be trusted but I earn the trust of my clients by informing them when asked. I did learn from him to read the entirety of any "warranty" you're about to sign. They're apparently very limited in coverage. I selected a third company. One who hasn't quoted me. The "other guys" charged me $1,200. That's just the price not on special. They took the time to make sure I understood our agreement and I look forward to working with them instead. read more

I had my tub reglazed August 23, 2023. August 26, 2023 I contacted the company to let them know that I was not satisfied with the finish and asked if they could re-spray the tub. I was told that i would have to agree to pay $90.00 for the company to return just to take a look at the tub. Mr. Garcia insisted that what I was seeing on the finish was a shadow. The tub looks the same as it did prior to the refinishing. I would recommend that if you are looking for good customer service you never use this company. The process was easy although the tech removed my drain and did not put it back. I was informed that they don't come back to reinstall the drain. It seems like it would be easy to put back although I had to call a handyman to reinstall the drain and he said it won't go back correctly. Not sure what happened here but I feel if you hire someone to do a job they should leave the job with everything in the working condition it was in prior to their arrival. I would not recommend this company unless you want to hire more people to do repairs after they leave. Tony was great while scheduling and gave us a competitive and similar price as another company . Our tub was in bad shape and has jets. We looked at just getting the tub replaced and the tile that goes on the floor and up the wall is discontinued so we had no choice since we're listing our home for sale to go with the more economical and quicker option of getting it refinished . Miguel showed up an hour early and I was ecstatic for that. He was very friendly and even told me that they don't normally do these types of jobs but he was up for the challenge. What was supposed to take 3-5 hours took him 6.5 hours and the outcome could not have been better. He never once made me feel bad for how long it took nor did he complain. The ONLY negative that was - he must have moved the toilet and forgot to hook it back up or couldn't because a part of the plumbing/water hose is now damaged . The only way I knew about this was my husband coming home and telling me the toilet had been leaking. My husband had to go buy a new hose and repair it .. would have appreciated a heads up and it wouldn't have been such a big deal. My wife and I are renovating a 130 year old home and have a 6' long claw foot cast iron tub that we called Cutting Edge to give us an estimate on. We also have an adjacent cast iron sink that has cracks on the surface that we asked for pricing as well. We sent them photos of the current state of both. $390 was the estimate for the tub reglaze. This would include stripping the old glaze, priming and glazing the tub surface which then needs to sit for 24 hours. (My wife is 28 weeks pregnant and should avoid the smell of this material.) $290 was the estimate for the sink reglaze but after viewing the photos they said that the cracks would still be visible. They couldn't warrant the work. Scheduling them to come out was quick, we got an appointment in under a week. My wife works from home on Fridays so it worked out. Overall to this point we were convinced that these guys were pros and gave us straight answers on the sink...we were ok with declining the sink work. Then the glazier/epoxier/painter showed up. Rude from the outset. My wife called me to say that they wouldn't be stripping the tub because, "the old glazing was very good and it would be pointless". Besides the photos showing that the glazing had been pulled away from the cast iron in two spots, it was clear to me that stripping or some type of leveling or fill was needed to make sure that we didn't have a noticeable dip in the new glazing. I spoke with the person doing the work and asked if the stripping was not necessary was there a drop in price due to less scope of work being performed. He said, "the stripping takes only ten minutes", so I let it go and agreed. The rep from Cutting Edge on site went right to work after he gave the phone back to my wife. When he was finished, he showed her the tub, she asked him about the bubbling on the bottom and he said it would settle...which it did not. She asked him if he went ahead with the extra traction on the bottom and he said that "your husband declined that add". I was not asked nor did I even know this was available until my wife brought it up to me later when I got home. So now we have a guy who said he didn't need to strip the old glazing with no drop in price, we had bubbles that did not settle, we were lied to about the traction add alternate. He gave my wife his own card to call if we had any issues or if I wanted to add the traction later on...when she called to inquire about the extra bubbling he never answered. My wife texted the original contact to state our issues and he was very sorry and said that they would be back Monday to look at it and fix if necessary. My wife was concerned about the 24 hour rule and she was told that it really only takes 12 hours to dry completely. As I left for work on Monday at 730AM, a Cutting Edge rep was walking up my sidewalk and murmured, "lets see what the problem is". Walked inside the house, said nothing to my wife and started working on the tub that obviously needed to be redone after a full weekend of the bubbles not settling...and this was not a bubble issue by the way...this was two 4'' diameter circles where the glazing didn't adhere to the cast iron substrate, right where we had photographed the problems in the first place, due in my opinion to it not being stripped or otherwise prepped. My wife had to leave for work, the rep said something about "green putty" and that he would take a photo of what he was doing and then that was it. My wife never received a photo. The rep said nothing to our babysitter who was there with our two year old. No follow up from the company, but they definitely cashed the check on Monday. I get home from work on Monday night, take a look at the tub...we were now about 10 hours since it was reglazed and the smell was still very strong. The two bad areas were gone. We let it dry over night and used the shower in the basement, no big deal. I looked at it again last night, took all the paper and tape and garbage bags he had used to cover the wallpaper, the outside of the tub and the tub fixtures. Overspray on the wallpaper, overspray on the fixtures, if you run your hand over the adjacent sink, overspray. Tub has quite a large drip line on one of the sides of the interior of the tub...don't know if that broadcast through from the old glazing, but again, the old was not stripped off like we were quoted, so we don't know. Tub looks good. Hence the two stars. Can't review any higher in good conscience. The company showed what they care about by cashing the check Monday without checking with my wife if we were satisfied. The company did not strip the original glaze when they said they would. The rep was rude when he had to come back and seemed like he wanted to be anywhere else than there. The warranty letter on the back side of the invoice is vague and does not state the duration of coverage. I would assume warranty requests are not their strong suit if they even respond. read more
