When they were gone, we called a couple of other companies who said they could put us on their list for a month later. They didn't want to come out & diagnose, but bring both the electrician and an apprentice. Total cost $200. an hour. After looking at Yelp, we called David Bertsch. He answered the phone(in the evening) and asked if it could wait til the next day! He would have come right out if we needed him then. The next day, he called to say that he was ahead of schedule and would it be ok if he can early. He arrived on time, a very pleasant man. He almost immediately found the problem (not due to chewed wiring), fixed it, found the GFI switch we needed reset in the garage and even replaced the burned out lightbulbs in the high up stairwell for us. He was here an hour, charged us $80. and we paid him $100. We consider him a miracle worker and he will be our go to electrician from now on!

I called Fisher and --actually-- got not a recorded menu but a real person who immediately put me on the booking list for that very day. John (Jonathan) was here in a few hours, went to the breaker box, sized up the situation quickly and definitively, and explained what needed to be done. He and Aaron were here early both days of work and installed a new breaker box and outside electrical panel very efficiently and neatly. John also advised me of options for the future if needed. They double-checked and tested everything, attended to every detail. The charges were very much reasonable for such extensive work. I can't praise Fisher Electric enough for their good work and service.

They were also willing to take feedback on things. On top of everything, they cleaned up after each day of work, and were very careful with everywhere they worked. We had them do a full home rewire. When they went bankrupt, our landlady was left SOL. We thought we were completely out of luck until my spouse found AOE here. From the get go, Duncan the General Manager was absolutely amazing. He was incredibly patient with all our questions and we never once felt rushed or like we got the brush off. We always got 100% of his attention and he took the time to explain it to us lay folks without making us feeling stupid. Ryan the project manager and estimator is so incredibly friendly. Even though they don't explicitly do solar, he went over everything the city said that we need and made sure we were set up for success. And when my landlady had questions about work done that she couldn't readily identify, he took the time to go over every single line item for her. Zach, the supervisor for the on-site work, was super personable and professional. And his team was so friendly. They left everything clean and packed out all the waste material from upgrading the system to comply with city code. AOE's quote was competitive with a bigger entity that I won't name, but the decision to work with them was a no brainer because they were so much nicer. We didn't have a general contractor to mediate on our behalf so feeling like we could go to them with anything we didn't understand was important. And while we found one private general contractor who was willing to subcontract it out for less money over all, the extra money spent was worth it for the peace of mind knowing the job would be done safely and done right. Somehow, they even managed to get our PG&E disconnect coordinated in 1/4 of the time that their competitor quoted. If you got screwed over by a predatory solar company, these are the people to talk to -- they'll make sure you're taken care of. I would give them 11 out 10 stars if I could.

We had an issue one evening where our power gradually shorted out throughout the house. We called John Hope Electric and other businesses on an urgent basis early the next morning. Unfortunately, it was a holiday and people were very busy working with skeleton crews and could not help. But the receptionist at JHE was extremely kind and understanding of the urgency and potential danger of our situation and said she would do what she could to try to get one of their workers to squeeze in the job. Within a half hour, she called back and said she had found a worker to come right away. We were so totally relieved she had gone the extra mile to help! Their (friendly) electrician arrived quickly and soon ascertained that we had a melted circuit breaker. The circuit breaker was an older type (at the end of its lifespan, he said), but he had the less common part on hand and quickly replaced it, restoring power to the house. We were so hugely relieved and grateful! We also asked him to check some other wiring, which he kindly did, and made some quick but essential changes. After all this completely fantastic service, the price was also super reasonable. We would definitely give them more than five stars if possible and I wholeheartedly recommend them here and to friends in person! What a fantastic business!
