I had a workman discover one room (built in the 40's) wasn't grounded. Got me worried. I called Brian who checked the outlets in other parts of my house and said it was only the one room that wasn't grounded. We had further discussion re: safety which was reassuring to me, and he didn't charge me!!! read more

Brian Nolf of Nolf Electric came to the site and sent an estimate the same day, which included several options. The work was then done according to my request. He also pointed out some issues with a previous electrical contractor, which, while I wasn't too happy, was very appreciative of having the information. All in all, a kind person and very knowledgeable. I felt the price was reasonable. read more

Amazing service! Prompt and professional. I'll definitely be using Brian again for my next electrical job

Brian is awesome! Good dude, good work, fair price. Done 5-6 jobs for me now. My new electrician for life!

Brian installed an EV charger charger for us. The experience was great. He was very understanding when the charger arrived a day later than scheduled and he simply let us move the appointment to the next business day. He was very responsive, the installation was quick and he even fixed an outlet that was not part of the EV charger installation for free. I'll definitely keep him in mind for any future electrical work. read more

Great communication and performed the job above and beyond expectations! Highly recommend.

Brian Nolf and I communicated via phone and text. He was quick to respond and professional. He was pleasant to work with in person, informative and efficient. Brian was on the higher end for prices, but this felt appropriate to me given his professionalism and high work quality. He also took a variety of payment methods and readily supplied me with his license number, business card, and other pertinent information. Brian kept his work area neat and discussed dust mitigation before installing a few ceiling fans and dimming wall switches. I will use Brian's services again for future projects. read more

How often do you find someone who does the work you requested (replacing two bathroom vent fans), then does added work (installing a new switch to one of the fans, installing a four-way light switch, and installing 3 GFCI outlets), spends time to discuss a potential hazard (Federal Pacific Stab-Lok electrical panel), and also gives advice about easy upgrades that can be DIY-ed? Probably not often. Even less often do you get all that for LESS than the originally quoted estimate to just replace the two bathroom vent fans. O, and Brian I talked to my contractor friend about the electrical panel and quoted price (because I like getting a second opinion from people I know) and his feedback was, "seems like a non-sleazy estimate". I'm paraphrasing. Yea, Brian's number is saved in my phone. read more

Brian was absolutely awesome to work with. We were having cabinetry and shelving installed on both sides of our chimney and we needed 2 outlets to go above the cabinet top. He showed up at the time be said he'd come and got to work right away. While installing the outlets I inquired about recess lighting to light up the living room and gave me some good pointers on where to place them and what types of lights to use. I didn't think twice to hire him for this second job the following week. His prices are fair and we highly recommend him. The best part is that he is local. read more

I was charged an exorbitant amount of over $550 to replace two smoke detectors and check a fuse box. He complained that I used a credit card, too. This was an inordinate amount , and when other electricians came over to fix my fuse box,and I related that amount Brian charged, they said that was crazy. These same two electricians came from a reputable electrical company in Aptos and only charged me $89.00. They also called me for any follow up problems. This electrician who charged me $550 was a very nice man, but because I just came out of critical surgery and was bedridden, I felt like I was taken badly advantage of. His work did not justify this amount at all. I even called him later about this fuse box that did not work, and 'Brian' never returned my call when my fuse box failed, after he checked it out and said it was operating just fine. The other two electricians identified the problem immediately, with a very decent and fair bill. I really don't like leaving bad reviews, as this electrician was nice. However, the amount he charged me was just ridiculous, and I feel so badly taken advantage of. read more

Brian is not only a skilled, knowledgeable and professional electrician, he is a decent and likeable human being who has successfully completed several jobs for me. These included installing new breakers, new electrical lines and outlets and bringing the electrical system in my daughter's house up to code, in preparation for a return inspection after a previous electrician had done work that had failed inspection the first time around. Brian took it on and set it straight, at short notice. In addition, he has also been willing to chat on the phone and answer my questions, or visit my house to check things out and give me advice where I needed it. He will always be my go-to guy when I need electrical work done in the future. read more

Awesome job!! Very professional! Brian and Hank showed up on time and stayed until the job was done. I had them install a ceiling fan in the living room, replace the ceiling fan 8n the dining room and change 2 hall fixtures. Big points for making sure to clean up after!! They answered all my questions and explained what they were doing to ensure the quality of the work. Pricing was very competitive! Can i give Brian 6 Stars? Had my panel upgraded to 200 Amp and installed a 240 Volt / 40 Amp Circuit with a 50 Amp Outlet for my JuiceBox EV charger in the garage. Brian was VERY responsive with communications and up front with expectations and gave recommendations / explanations to someone (me) who was really knew nothing about this type of install. We scheduled a month out. During this time he procured the parts, obtained the permit, and scheduled the time for PG&E & Inspector for the day of the install. Brian showed up on time and finished the work promptly. You can see the quality in his work and he's also a great guy to chat with! I just moved to Ben Lomond and feel lucky that I've already found an outstanding electrician!! Thanks again Brian!! read more

I made several calls and couldn't get an electrician to call me back...except for Brian. He was really busy, but still made the effort to come and look at the job a few days later. Due to the extensive work that was needed, he had to book me for the following month, but it was well worth the wait. Brian is punctual, professional, efficient, and very knowledgeable. Brian at NOLF inspired my first ever yelp review. His excellent work, professionalism, fair price, unpretentious demeanor, and generally constructive approach to making things work. It's been tempting for many years to add my voice to the cacophony of yelp opinion when it comes to things like restaurants, bookstores, etc; almost bit the apple many times... but then upon reflection, why, why add more mercury to the barometer charting the general human quagmire of unsolicited opinion? I confess I read it, though. But I've come to see things differently for local services. People who come to your house, like electricians, arborists, plumbers, contractors etc. At least it's easier to take a reviewer's actual impressions as having some real world gravity. The 5 star reviews you see here about Brian guided me to him and his company NOLF. And I must thank those reviewers for that. Boy were they right! The guy really is an ace. It's not easy to feel that unconflicted in this area, and in this day and age of regimented-entitlement and high-cost mediocrity. So I guess almost feel a responsibility to add my voice & say something out loud about one of the GOOD ones. So there it is! read more

I don't write reviews. So, this is a favor for the good service I received from Brian and in itself should express how pleased I was with his service. We bought a home and Brian was sent to us through the home warranty service to fix some electrical that needed attention. He was prompt, efficient, well humored and in a day where I had no less that four service guys out to repair or replace various issues with our new home, he stood out. The rest of the five star reviews are no BS, stop looking and use this guy. read more
