I really liked this company the first go round. But my second experience was that they came for the estimate, but then didn't follow through. They did not return any phone calls or text messages. And I really liked them. I realize that I had a long list of things I needed. But the correct way to deal with this is to say, I will do this and this, but don't want to do the rest of it. To prepare for my appointment, I purchased new outdoor lighting and bulbs expecting the "non operating" lighting to be replaced. David and his team did the wiring for our new tankless water heater a year ago. They offered to take care of installation as part of the wiring, but the seller wound up installing for us. Some of our lights started flickering when using the hot water, and after months of not figuring out why we called David, who was quick to come out and check on the problem. Direct Electric's work was great, but the installation team from the water heater retailer had left some unused wires tagged off without junction boxes. In the end, the flickering lights turned out to be most likely an issue for PGE, and David got us their contact information, but not before putting junction boxes over the leftover wires at no charge. David is always super polite and very informative, taking the time to explain what they are doing and why. I definitely recommend this team! read more

Bad communication. Everything started off good, I was able to set up the initial inspection appointment no problem. Then all downhill from there. I had trouble confirming the appointment but was able to connect via text the day before. I tried to confirm appointment the day of but no reply, I was happy to find out that they showed up at the scheduled time. Landlord happy with the planned work so I texted back later that day, no reply. I texted several times over the course of the week... no reply. I decided to just call and was able to connnect and told him let's do it! He said "okay" BUT his helpers were not available and he would call back when he was ready. Days went by and I texted a few times...no reply, gave up and let the landlord deal with it. They tried for a week with success. The way I see it, if I'm gonna give you a bunch of money and trust you with my safety you should be able to call back or at least text and let the customer know to look elsewhere. Just common courtesy, bit I would trust anyone with this type of work if they can't even return a call. read more

It bothers me to leave even one star.. I was trying to help my older neighbor have a car charger installed. "Dave" came out - looked at the job.. Suggested he could do it without a permit .. Aside from suggesting skirting the proper permitting he was COMPLETELY Unresponsive Waited 3 weeks for a bid after he looked at the job to install a car charger. Direct Electric was able to schedule me for the next day, their texting system is really good, confirming the appointment, telling me when he was going to arrive. We recently moved to Aptos, and we have several items on our punch list. We needed an electrician, so we asked our realtor for a recommendation. We called her guy but did not hear from him for a week. We searched the internet and discovered Direct Electric. They had 85 5-star reviews on Yelp. Dave, the owner, answered my initial call and we scheduled him to look at the job. He arrived at the promised time, giving us a heads up when he was on his way to our home. We wanted to move two bathroom GFI outlets and install power for a new fireplace insert. Dave looked at the job and told us that each bathroom should be on a separate circuit. He also looked at the fireplace and described in detail what he would do. He gave a written estimate on the spot and said the job would take him and his partner Joe 1/2 day. We signed the estimate and scheduled the work in two days around 8:00 am. On the expected job day, he called at 8 to say he was 10 minutes away. Dave and Joe worked non-stop for 3 1/2 hours. Parts of the job required two people while the others were one-person jobs. They worked as an experienced team. The fireplace required unique wiring, so they made an outside trip to get the necessary parts. Dave and Joe completed all three tasks without any issues. They did a professional, meticulous job. Dave is a talented electrician, an excellent communicator and customer focussed. Direct Electric is a two-person company that performs like a larger company.
