Our light fixture in our kitchen fell, and I'm so glad we called David to come in and fix it. He was able to squeeze us in the same day. He was prompt, efficient and did a great job. He was able to save the original fixture and help us fix a fixture in our bathroom too. Amazing work. I'm definitely saving his number for electric help in the future. read more

We really appreciated David's personal touch on top of his honesty and years of experience. We would hire him again in a heartbeat. We've worked with a few questionable electricians, and David was a breath of fresh air. read more

David L. Bertsch has been a great blessing to our family and to our home. Since 2014, we've hired David to complete three different projects: 1.) Replaced and upgraded the outlet in the laundry room 2.) Changed the wiring and removed the ballasts to the overhead fluorescent lighting in the carport and kitchen that had been flickering or non-functional 3.) Installed a new outlet in the main bedroom up high on the wall so that the wall-mounted TV could be plugged in without having to have the power cord run down the wall. With each project, David analyzed the situation very carefully and was able to come up with a perfect solution that always considered safety and cost-efficiency. We also had him check the GFCI connections in the bathroom and kitchen and also take a look at the outside panel because we had some safety concerns. He was able to determine that there were no signs of overheated connections or any other problems, giving us the peace of mind that we were seeking. David is a "safety first" kind of guy that NEVER cuts corners, and ALWAYS lets the homeowners know if there are any safety issues that need to be addressed. As great a job as David has done for us as a top-notch professional electrician, the thing that we appreciate and value the most about him is his integrity, his honesty, and his kindness! I can say without hesitation that David L. Bertsch is the best, most-reliable, most-considerate, most reasonably priced, tradesperson that we've ever had the pleasure of hiring to do work on our home! THANK YOU, David, for all the fantastic service that you've given to the Santa Cruz County community during the past four-plus decades! You are greatly appreciated, and we all hope that you never fully retire! read more

David is a very knowledgeable electrician. He was punctual and so polite. He was able to figure out what was making our lights flicker and fixed it so fast. David is fantastic! Another company had come out to check on an outlet that wasn't working and advised us to replace our entire electric panel for a cost of $6,000. David came out on short notice and quickly diagnosed what the issue was with the outlet. He had it fixed in less than 30 minutes and saved us a ton of money! Would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy and honest electrician. Gil read more

David came out right after I called. Did a thorough inspection of my panel and wiring in the garage after I was having issues with appliances going futz. Very reasonable prices and I will definitely call again for any future needs. read more

I have called on David several times in the last two years, as I have been gradually updating my home. First, and most simply, David is one of the few contractors I have worked with who actually picks up his phone when I call. If you live in the Bay Area, you will know how rare this is. He has always performed beautiful and detailed work. David also single-handedly saved my thanksgiving when I managed to fry my breaker panel the day before, and he came out the same day to get my house back in running order. There are few I can recommend as unreservedly as David Bertsch. read more

David helped our family in a recent solar project, running a new circuit from inside the house to outdoor equipment on the roof. We are really pleased with the work he's done which included a difficult routing problem through the attic. our exterior circuit looks very professional: wires are all cleanly routed and the conduit is carefully bent to follow the roofline. The project lasted for several weeks, and working with David was great. He would always call before stopping by, and we could reach him by email or phone whenever questions came up. David did an excellent job for us, his prices were reasonable, and we'd go with him again. Thanks David! read more

David L Bertsch Electrical Contractor - our installation crew poses with David - Electricians Near Me - Scotts Valley, California

Our electricity was out in our upstairs master bedroom. We thought it might be due to rats that had gotten into a wall near the circuit panel. When they were gone, we called a couple of other companies who said they could put us on their list for a month later. They didn't want to come out & diagnose, but bring both the electrician and an apprentice. Total cost $200. an hour. After looking at Yelp, we called David Bertsch. He answered the phone(in the evening) and asked if it could wait til the next day! He would have come right out if we needed him then. The next day, he called to say that he was ahead of schedule and would it be ok if he can early. He arrived on time, a very pleasant man. He almost immediately found the problem (not due to chewed wiring), fixed it, found the GFI switch we needed reset in the garage and even replaced the burned out lightbulbs in the high up stairwell for us. He was here an hour, charged us $80. and we paid him $100. We consider him a miracle worker and he will be our go to electrician from now on! read more

David is a pro. I had him install a subpanel in my garage, and run a few new circuits off it; one for a garage heater, another for future 240v shop outlets, and some 110 circuits. He handled all of it and it's awesome. Will definitely hire him again. read more

My main breaker went out today at 1:15 pm. I got on yelp and looked in my area for an electrician. Went through about 5 people and came across davids yelp. I called him at about 1:30 told him my problem. He had me text him a picture of my panel. He got the picture while we were on the phone. Told me he was very familiar with my type on panel. He dropped what he was doing, ran by a a store he knew would carry the breaker. He just finished and it's 2:45. David is the man. Super friendly and didn't waste anytime. He also likes ice cold bubbly water. haha. He charged me a price that was extremely reasonable I ended up giving him more because he stopped what he was doing for me. He is now saved in my contacts and I just wanted to tell anyone who needs electrical work about this man. Thanks david. read more

This review is for the quote process. Contacted David through Yelp requesting a quote. He got back to us quickly and happened to be in our are (Aptos). He uses text and email promptly so this was nice as well. 5 stars to David because he was nothing but honest with us about what updates we needed and what could wait. He didn't try to upsell us or anything which is very much appreciated. His quote was very fair and reasonably priced and was the best deal we found in comparison to other quotes we heard about from others. After interviewing several electrical contractors we hired David to work on our major home construction. He gave us a fair bid and we felt certain that we would like working with him. During the course of the job we did a considerable amount of modifications from the original plans. David was very understanding and relaxed about these changes and clearly explained how they would affect the original bid so that there would be no surprises. We found David to be: Reliable, Dependable, Knowledgeable, Flexible, Responsible, Pleasant to work with, Conscientious, Careful, Thoughtful and Organized Perhaps most importantly everything works perfectly. We would definitely use him again and recommend him to our family and friends. Karen and Chuck Wilkinson read more

David also came by later on and installed several sockets by my breaker box, which I used to install "Dirty Electricity" (DE) filters to filter out the DE (or high frequency transients) coming in on the electric wires. David did a fantastic job for a very reasonable price. David is not only an excellent electrician, but he is also just a super nice open-minded and humble guy. Great service, super affordable, very professional! This is my first time owning a home, which means I don't have a landlord to help handle problems that come up. As good as it gets. David is very in demand for a reason. Takes his time and shows his experience. What I really loved was that he came out ahead of when he could do all of the work I needed completed to quickly take care of a safety issue that otherwise could have led to a A/C unit failure or fire. Once he came back to take care of all of the remaining work, he finished on time, was right in line with his estimate and taught me what he fixed as he completed the work. Highly recommended. read more

My wife and I first met David Bertsch about 20 years ago, when he served as the electrical subcontractor for a pool that we put in. He has continued to help us with pool-related electrical work from time to time, including a new control panel that he installed for us a few years ago. In addition, he has done a number of other electrical jobs for us, such as installing a whole-house fan, a chandelier, kitchen lights, and lights on the front and back sides of our house. David is an excellent electrician. He thinks about what he's going to do before plunging ahead, and he's very careful to avoid damaging walls etc. Today I asked him to install two 3-way switches on the opposite sides of my garage, so that the main garage light could be operated from either entrance. I had assumed that he would simply run new conduit across the garage, but instead he found a way to make this work by snaking wires between 6 different existing electric boxes, using existing conduit. Some of these boxes were hidden inside cabinets, and this was a highly complex job, requiring a lot of thought and patience. Although I believed he could do it, I was delighted to see that, when he finally turned the power back on, the two switches worked perfectly the first time! David is a warm, trust-worthy human being, and his prices are very fair. We recommend him highly. read more

David is wonderful to work with. He is meticulous and careful. He is a terrific communicator and has a very reasonable rate. We are thrilled with the work he's done in our home. First, he came same day to fix a light switch in our daughter's room that had started smoking (!). A few month later, we had him return to install recessed lighting as well as a new dining room fixture. He worked hard to make sure we were happy with the results (we are!). read more

I called David last Thursday because all of our large appliances had been turning on and off intermittently. I was very concerned that the power issues were going to eventually fry all our large appliances - leaving us with not only fixing our electrical issues, but also buying all new large appliances. David returned my email almost immediately. He was able to come in and fix our issue that same day (I called around 8:00 and he met me at my condo at 1:00). He was able to fix the issue in a short amount of time while also explaining all that went wrong. He also recommended that I call my HOA to confirm that this repair wouldn't be covered by them (HOA didn't cover it)- rather than just doing the repair right away and taking my money. I appreciated him thinking of that. I absolutely recommend David. He is a kind, reliable local electrician - who will get the job done. read more

David has just completed the second of two complex jobs at our home. One was re-routing previously existing non-code conduits on our roof and the other was installation of a new electrical panel. Both jobs presented challenges and a need for flexibility (both physical and technical). Dave delivered 100% and more on each task. He was thoughtful, honest and caring about how the project will look in our home. His prices were very fair. We appreciate his service very much and would highly refer him to others.
