I was experiencing a problem with half the electrical circuits going off and the other half were still working. This began the day before the tropical storm Henri hit our area. The power came back up so I did not call anyone, thinking it might have something to do with the weather. The day after the storm we lost half power again. The air conditioners all stopped working. I pulled up Home Advisor as I had used it before. I reached out to 4 different companies. I almost immediately received a call from David at Electricians R Us, David asked me to describe my problem which I did. He said that my problem sounded like an emergency situation and offered to come out that same night. It was already 5 pm and he arrived within an hour. He discovered a bad wire on the outside of our house. As it was raining pretty good he said he could be back the next day and fix the problem. As promised he returned with another of his helpers. They replaced the wire and the bad connection within a half hour my problem was fixed. David was extremely helpful in quickly and efficiently resolving my problem. I am so appreciative that he was willing to come out so quickly especially the day after being hit with a tropical storm in our area. I contacted Electricians R Us to install a plug and a closet light. Two electricians arrived the next day. While working they discovered and showed me some potentially dangerous problems with my home electrical system. After discussing the issue they put me on the phone with the owner. He and I discussed the scope of the problem, a cost estimate and work schedule. Three electricians arrived on the committed day and time. It was raining so they completed everything they could indoors and returned the next day to finish the outside work. Upon completion of the work the owner arrived. He personally inspected the work and then walked me through all that was completed. The invoice was very close to the estimate. I have a 104 year old house and spoke to Dave I told him I possibly needed a ceiling box and a new fan hung. He gave me a good price and told me when his people would be here. They arrived on time and were very professional. They laid down tarp's and got to work. From the time they arrived to when they cleaned up and left was 30 minutes. Not only did he have the best price, he was on time, courteous, professional and completed the project right on schedule. We had work done by this company in August and we were pleased with the work that was done. The only issue was when I was going to pay with my credit card I was informed there would be an additional $50 fee to use a credit card. I was never told that during any of the conversations with the staff. In the end they didn't charge me the $50 fee. And the only other issue was they were excessively late arriving to do the job because of another job before ours. There was no communication other than me calling several times o find out when the tech would be arriving. We loved the worked they did. We recently contacted them again in early November to do a small electrical outlet install and the person I spoke with said she would contact me back and let me know the ball park figure for the job. I never heard back from them. Perhaps they realized we were a "returning customer" and the previous $50 fee issue was something that still ticked them off. If I was getting a call from a returning customer those are the best types of customers to have. Not to mention word of mouth. The level of customer service with this company is lack luster. Was very impressed at the beginning. At the end of the day could not resolve what I thought was a simple problem (lights that were installed not working correctly) but stated that he (the electrician) would come back the next day to resolve. I paid the total bill in full and the check was cashed the very same day. After 5 tries over a two week period to get the electrician to come back out, he came out and stated that he would research the problem and get back with me the next day. That was over a week ago. I've come to the conclusion that I will have to resolve this problem on my own. Be sure that the work is complete before you surrender full payment. Warning! He was hired to remove old knob/tube wiring from a 2 story house (each floor is one apartment). We had 2 conversations that I wanted the entire house's knob/tube wiring removed. Contract only stated 2nd floor (which I missed, my fault). Payment: Started the job, got his "half deposit", and to my non-surprise, the next day - NO SHOW. The day after - NO SHOW. It was 4 days before he came back - just me waiting for him to show, texting him saying "are you coming today" and getting a reply "sorry, can't". 100% unprofessional! A family member was home every day & I heard how he always complained about how he was getting screwed, and how he took at least 45 minutes to 1 hour breaks all the time. When on the job, it was for only 3-4 hours a day. This was at most a 3 day job, however, from the day he started to the day he finished - it was 13 days. Yes, seriously, 13 days! 12 days into the job, family called me to say the refrigerator was not working and the breaker was "tripping". When I investigated, I discovered that he ran the new bathroom wire to the refrigerator breaker. He said it was "temporary", so he caused a malfunction, then left it like that for us to discover later. I removed his wire and presto, a working breaker and a working refrigerator. Upon inspection of the breakers, I discovered he ran 14 gauge wire to 20 amp breakers, a HUGE no-no as you can burn the house down that way! Again, he said it was "temporary". Sorry but you don't *EVER* put 14 gauge on 20 amps. An important point on his "temporary" comment - For the entire job, the breaker cover was OFF, yet when I went to look at the problem that evening, the cover was ON, so if the wiring inside was "temporary", then why was the cover ON? I strongly feel he was covering up his sloppy work hoping I would not notice it. His ladder broke the plaster wall in several places, apparently it is my responsibility to fix what he damaged. On the final walk through, I discovered the following issues: 1) The 2nd floor basement light switch was completely removed, so I had a working light switch and now I don't 2) The 1st floor apartment basement light switch was not working properly. We spent over 1 hour arguing that he needed to fix this because that wire "came from" a junction box that he was working in. The fix took less than 5 minutes, yet he complained and argued with me for over 1 hour about it 3) A 2nd floor wall socket that he rewired had an open ground. He said it was not his responsibility to fix it. I said, yes, you ran that new wire, so you need to fix it. More moaning and complaining that "he's been screwed on this job" and "out of his generosity" he rewired the 2nd floor porch light. I was like "huh, the 2nd floor porch light is part of the 2nd floor" - he said nope. I said "seriously - how is the 2nd floor porch light not part of the 2nd floor". At that point I said, you can fix the wall socket or leave. He threatened to call the city because I did not "pull a permit". I said "I hired you & under state law and city ordinances, YOU HAVE TO pull the permit, not me & that I'd be happy to discuss the situation with the city and the state contractor's board." Several minutes later, the wall socket was properly grounded. 4) In the contract it stated that 4 closets were to have pull/chain lights installed in them. Only 3 were done. When asked about it, he said "the closet was too small to get into". Oh, so you moan and complain about stuff you have to do per the contract, but don't even bother to tell me -- until I discover that you did NOT do work per the contract. Summary - Extremely unprofessional, No shows/No communications, constant complaining - In my opinion, I feel he was covering up his sloppy work hoping I would not notice it. - No permit pulled, then threatened me with action when it was his legal responsibility If you want to hire this man, just don't read more

Just had the guys at Electricians R Us do some work around the house for us last week. They gave us an excellent price and were quick to fit us into their busy work schedule. First, we had several minor things fixed, including: installation of an emergency furnace shut off switch and firematic, updating and securing of various wiring elements both indoors and outdoors, etc. But perhaps, the most impressive work they did was performing the major task of replacing our old electrical panel with a new one. This was no small job and they got it done not just quickly, but with care and attention to detail too! They even cleaned up any and all messes they made during their work! All in all, my family was very impressed with these electricians on every level. They were extremely professional, personable, considerate, and highly accomodating! We had Dave and his crew re-wire the second floor of our house and install an upgraded sevice/panel. He came out the same day to quote the job and when I told him we were on a tight time frame he got the work done in a few days. The re-wire was complicated by the fact that we don't really have an attic, but they got the job done and even installed smoke/CO detectors and a halfway light which wasn't even in our original request. Also, it was a 90+ degree heat wave and they were nothing but pleasant. The price was comparable to other quotes, and the new panel is awesome. We had work done by this company. They came right out and did the work. They never took pictures or kept damaged parts for the insurance company so we could be reimbursed. Therefore we were unable to recoup our $8000.00. One would think they would know this is standard procedure for an insurance claim. I called and spoke to Dave and he said he would take care of it. I faxed him all the papers from the insurance company..then never heard from him. My mother is elderly and they took advantage of her! As for the work that was done..2 of the base boards do not work and never did! They put in cheap thermostats that have to be manually turned on. They said they would come in and replace them and they never showed up ..never returned calls. My mother had to run space heaters all winter long after paying $8000.00 to this company. I hired Electric R US back last year 2017. Dave and his assistants installed new circuit boxes, 4 in total in my multi family. They were fast, clean and courteous. Forward to January of 2018. One of the tenants on the 1st floor blew a circuit and went to switch it back on only to find out that the switch they were turning off and on belonged to the 2nd floor apartment. It turns out that some of the wires were mis wired. When I brought this to David's attention, first he did not respond but after calling and texting him numerous times, he finally answered via text saying that it was not wired wrong. I called National Grid and they came out to check the meters and said they were all connected correctly. When I called and texted David at Electric R US, he did not respond right away. When I asked that he please come back to finish the job he was paid for, we set a date only for him to blow me off saying he was sick. I asked that he call me when he was better so we could reschedule. He never did! So in March of 2018 I texted him asking if we could meet at n May on the 11th to correct the wiring? He did not respond for a while. Finally he said "sure". After taking a day off work, setting up the permission from my tenants and driving up from NY, the time we were supposed to meet came and went. When I texted him an hour after the time we we're supposed to meet asking where he was. He did not respond. Eventually with my texting him and calling, he finally responded by saying he was sick, and could he come tomorrow (Saturday). I agreed. I drove 49 mins from where I was staying and waited for his arrival. Which never happen,again! I texted him countless times but no response until two hours later telling me he was sick and that the wires were not missed wired. When I told him I will be taking him to court, he offered to come the next day. I had to get back to work so it never happened!!! read more
