I needed 4 combination smoke/carbon monoxide detectors installed. I had called a couple of other…read moreelectricians before I found F & S Electric but was disappointed that they would not tell me an approximate price. They wanted to come out and charge me money just to tell me how much they were going to charge me. Not to install anything just to tell me a price. It was a relief to find F & S Electric who was more than capable of emailing me a price and also telling me if I wanted to save money I could shop around and buy my own detectors instead of buying the brand they had in stock. So that is what I did. I was given a day and time for installation without a long wait. The electrician showed up exactly on time. Right down to the second. 5 stars for prompt, professional, courteous service. After installation, he tested them all to make sure they worked properly. I would definitely recommend this company.

I booked an attic knob and tube inspection via their portal, expanding it to a whole-house…read moreinspection upon arrival. The initial inspector completely missed active knob and tube on the first floor--even writing "No active knob and tube seen" in the first floor notes section--and failed to report ungrounded fabric wiring. Though promised an estimate the next day, I received zero communication until I followed up 8 days later. Due to the missed hazards, they sent a senior technician. He also missed the ungrounded fabric wiring until I insisted he physically pull an outlet from the wall. This process lasted from late May into July. I never received a second inspection report, only another estimate. When I raised these safety and communication concerns, management took zero accountability. The financial controller only defended the initial 8-day delay, and the vice president deflected blame onto me and onto their own employee. I cannot recommend a company that misses critical safety hazards and responds with defensiveness.

Top notch work, easy to schedule an appointment, prompt arrival. I've recommended his services to my daughter and my neighbor - both were highly satisfied.

Third, they actually do schedule these appointments and maintain communication via email, texts, etc. This is a marked improvement over the guy you can barely hear in the middle of a job who never calls you back. Fourth, the electrician who came was competent, timely, and flexible (he came a day earlier than scheduled). Other reviewers here and elsewhere have complained about costs. I had no issues whatsoever. The price was reasonable for the electrical work he wound up doing. He explained some parts of the electrical system that I didn't understand and clarified that I didn't need any extra work done. Obviously I appreciated that candor. He was also a pretty good dude, easy to relate/talk to, and I always prefer dealing with friendly contractors than sour ones. So in sum, this is a professional outfit and what I've come to expect in the 21st century, with an office staff, scheduling software, and prompt, helpful specialists--but sadly it's something I don't often find in the world of contracting.
