When one goes to Eldora, you have to drop all Colorado ski resort expectations at the front door or leave them at home or whatever you need to do. It's a local mountain which means there is no glitz or glamour. There is no Nobu or a tacos with margs by the slopes. There is no ski in/ski out condo by the slopes with a hot tub. In fact, no condos at all. There is a Best Western in Nederland but that's about it. This is a basic resort and basic as it gets. The lifts are a little slow and the wind. Oh there's wind. Sometimes I think there's a hidden wind machine next to the mountain. But on a good day there is no wind and the sun is shining just so right, you can have a decent day. The food at Eldora is also terrible. Once, my son was taking a lesson so I thought I'd take refuge in one of the lodges. Once I went inside, it was like a train station in a 3rd world country. No seats were open and everyone and their mother was sitting and hanging out waiting for their kiddies. I tried to buy some food but everything looked and smelled so badly that I just decided to skip it all together. The good thing about Eldora is the ski lessons for the kids. They're the most affordable out of anywhere we've researched. The other great thing is the proximity to our home in Boulder. So if you live anywhere in the denver metro area/Front range, you can go ski in the morning and be home in the afternoon. Today we left for Eldora a little after 9. Was on the slopes by 10. Had decent runs and was home by 2pm so we could attend to other things in life. The other thing is parking. On a not so busy day, you can park and walk right up to the chairlift. No gondola or traversing a mile with a red wagon stuff. I also know that the Nordic center is pretty decent. Last year, my brother in law decided he needed to go Xcountry skiing. He drove up to Eldora and I guess it was very easy. He has zero patience so it must have been great. There are much better choices in Colorado but Eldora is a nice quick getaway without the hassles of a giant resort. read more

Not a good value. Pay somewhat a high price for a small hill. Eldora seems like it is mostly for locals and not visitors or out of state people. They must be using the revenue from the tickets to employ price scanners on runs that are not at the bottom of the hill. Although there were many bad aspects, I liked the backcountry that it offered and the view from the top but I refuse to go again until they lower the price of a day ticket. read more

Skiing is fine and can be enjoyable. But this review speaks to the cuisine. If you have not eaten at Eldora, you should know that food quality is not good. It's basic burgers and stuff, which one would like after skiing, but cooked with minimal care or attention to the basics of having food that isn't crappy. Just peak at the pizzas: cooked to all hell. And then glance at the burgers: cooked to the 7th Circle of Hell, possibly using a flame thrower, or a plasma welder. The recipe seems simple enough: cook until it's done, then break out the the tactical nuclear weapon and finish it off. On the plus side, they do have local treats and baked goods, which are yummy, probably because they were not cooked in the same cremation oven that they use for the pizza. They also have some gluten free buns and pizzas, which is a plus for folks who eat that way, as in my family. But the staff seems not to know that GF is not just a preference, like "hold the mayo," but can have health effects, as observed by the casual indifference in learning that they mistakenly poisoned my wife with a gluten-laden bun. But such is life. Lesson learned: bring a lunch. read more

Terrible customer service (unfriendly, even aggressive); Outrageously expensive nordic center - absolutely no need to pay these prices for access to trails when there are comparable and far better nordic centers, priced reasonably. read more

Nice staff, great place to cross country ski. Staff was very accommodating. Clean. Was not busy on the weekdays.

So far, this is my least favorite ski resort. Yes, the drive there is nice: fairly close to home, and never any traffic...but that isn't enough for me to throw in another star. However, I do still go back because I have free access to the mountain, but I definitely wouldn't return if I had to pay for it. The beginner slopes are so incredibly short, that even when the lines aren't long, you spend twice as long in line and riding the painfully slow lift up compared to how long it takes to ski down. Since the greens are so short/small, there are usually children everywhere, making it difficult to get down without plowing one over. Thankfully, I've graduated over to the non-beginner part of the mountain, where it's all blues and blacks. Those runs are much longer, but you definitely have to be a little more experienced to ride them. So far this year, I've been 3 times, and the snow has not been great. My most recent trip was the worst, as it seemed like the entire mountain was covered in ice. Needless to say, I got a little beat up that day, and vowed to not return until they get some decent snow. Another downside is that the food/beverage selection isn't the greatest. Cafeteria food, and only one small bar. Not very conducive to hanging out on the mountain all day, which is something I look for in a resort. Yes, I will return....but not on my dime. read more

We paid for lessons and were shortchanges. DO NOT TAKE THE LESSONS HERE. One member of our party lost their instructor (who apparently wasn't that good to begin with) to a private lesson and had to sit around for hours waiting for them to finish the private lesson in the middle of their group lesson. Their whole group complained about how terrible their instructor was. This was a beginner lesson and the resort closed down the bunny hill hours early so they were short changed on an already crappy lesson and did not get to use their ski pass on the only hill they felt comfortable. A huge rip off. read more

Im not from here and wanted to find a nearby ski resort to where I was staying for work. I happened to go on a Monday but it was also MLK day so when I thought it would be empty, it was packed, but thankfully still found parking. The rates were pretty expensive overall which wasnt great, but the staff was very nice, helpful and one ski coach was super helpful when I was just passing by with a quick question. He had fantastic customer service. The slopes were nice since I hadnt been skiing in years. Always bummed slopes close so early but I get it since it gets dark. Totally understandable. Just wish they charged for the hour since I only got two hours and had to pay $89 still plus rentals so for $145 i skied 2hrs. ‍ In the end it was worth it though since we dont have sno where Im from. The drive up was gorgeous! Just dont do Waze- Eldora ski resort cause something else comes up. Cheers! read more

Hello, I wanted to let you know about a bad experience i had at the resort today. We had been doing the runs using the Corona lift for a couple of hours and when we got to the lift at 2 p.m. (01/04/2019) the shift must have changed and there was a woman there then. We skied up to the lift and she did not hold the chair for us. It slammed into both my husband's and my calfs. I have a lump and it's very sore. I think she should not be working in that position. What a sad end to what had been a great day on the mountain. Disappointed! Marge VanWoerkom Ikon Pass Holder read more

Shitty grooming, they over sell lift tickets and refuse to build more parking. One day they had a power outage, told everyone in the lot the power will be back at 11am. Come 11am some ski bum employee walked around the lot telling us they are closed for the day. If you plan on using this small ungroomed ice rink make sure to get their by 7am or they will turn you around with a full lot. read more

- It was so windy!! - Food was pretty lacking - No one was working the lift at the top of the mountain, and some kid in front of me fell and i had to dodge him swiftly because no one was there to slow down the lift so he could get out of the way. WTF? - Left my goggles at home, and they wanted to charge me for a new set when they have tons in the back that people have left behind. BOOOOOOOO + Good beer selection + Short lift lines! + No i-70 Traffic! + Staff was friendly and helpful + Ski Runs were fun and decently groomed This place would be great if it had just a bit more TLC, and a nice update. read more

"Little Eldora" is a world class ski resort in a small package. There are lots of different runs for everyone, from green to black. I especially like all the choices and variety of the blue runs. My favorite blue run is Jolly Jug. The 2018-2019 season is off to a great start. My wife and I especially like that the resort is located only 50 minutes from our driveway in Superior, CO. On, 11/18/2018, Eldora opened another exciting area with the opening of the Lower Ambush run, and today, 12/8/2018, they had the single black diamond Corona run open. I'm giving this fantastic little ski resort 5 stars, with no exceptions. Today, 12/8/2018, the lift staff was very organized and friendly - What a difference a few weeks makes! They did an excellent job of directing traffic at the high speed Alpenglow lift and getting the skiers smoothly through the gates. In summary, this is a 5 star resort in a small package. The secret seems to out, because there were lots of skiers today enjoying the slopes. read more

Location is close to Boulder, but very expensive, $570 for 2 adults and 1 child to snowboard (including snowboard rentals for all of us), until 4 pm. I wanted lessons for my 6 year old, but no instructors were available for his age, so he 'winged it'. I would suggest packing lunch and/or snacks, or plan to pay $50+ just for lunch. Next time we're back in Colorado we will not be back here when there are so many other places to try with so much more to offer! read more

I really love Eldora ski resort! It's not over crowded so you can get a lot of runs in. My son did a private lesson with an instructor named Ric and he was amazing! I highly recommend him. We drive from Texas and totally worth it! read more

Put alot of thought into picking which place to spend money to teach myself a new sport. Eldora seemed great: small and cozy, didnt have a corporate big ski resort feel. Great disappointment when I bought 4-day pack as a surprise for my loved one, but they got injured (0 chance of recovery by end of season). Eldora was completely unwilling to work with me. It's not an unlimited season pass I can abuse. 4 completely untouched and unused single day pass (not validated or even signed by family member) and its MY money. Their reply was a curt "sorry you typed his name so no transfers, you should've got the insurance". Really frustrating, when doing the right thing would take so little from them. They lose nothing! For me that's a big chunk of money I had worked hard for, and completely wasted. Don't go here expecting a warm or more family oriented treatment. They're just like every other exploitative fineprint-regurgitating business with 0 interest in customer care. read more

I don't usually write reviews but I was so frustrated and ignored by customer service at Eldora that I think it's necessary. I had a horrible experience with a woman named Dallas (i believe) on the phone in customer service. While trying to sort out a situation, she basically refused to help me, brought up her personal life to try to guilt me into dropping the situation, and the only solution she could think of to give me was incredibly unprofessional and aimed to guilt me more. I am a pretty patient person and I have worked in customer service for years- I understand that this kind of job is tough and especially during Covid- but this crossed the line for me. Because I have worked similar jobs, I also know that this kind of behavior is unacceptable. I would never have treated someone on the phone the way she treated me. She was rude to me, unsympathetic, unhelpful, and gave me false information all day. She gave me phone numbers that led to a dead end and an email address that I suspect was just her on the other side. She brought up her personal life and attempted to make me feel guilty to make me leave her alone. I have never felt so disrespected by a business. read more

Way overpriced single day ticket. Nice little hill for locals (season ticket holders) but $89 for a day ticket when it should be under 40. Lifts are slow as molasses in winter. Bad. read more

I gave up the I-70 rat race of a 4-7 hr. commute to ski at an area that is just 30 min. from my home in Boulder. It is a funky, mom-and-pop ski area that is rare in the glitzy ski world. Sure, it is not Vail or even Winter Park, but I find plenty to challenge me on the advanced slopes and intermediate cruisers for both downhill and telemark skiing. Where else can you find Women's Tuesdays or Wednesdays of ski lessons for any level of downhill, telemark, backcountry, and skate skiing? When I ski weekdays, I feels like I have the entire mountain to myself. It can be windy and it can be icy, but you pick your days. I would give it a higher rating but new management has taken away tons and tons of perks for both employees and customers this year with hugely raised prices, eliminated weekday passes, eliminated use of the backcountry trails to ski pass holders, eliminated food discounts for pass holders, and even eliminated happy hour in the bar, all in favor of increasing the bottom line. All of this was done without any added benefit to customers or employees. So sad that the bottom line means more than caring about faithful customers. read more

This mountain is great for locals, but if you're visiting be prepared to be an outcast. We visited Eldora because it was 45 minutes from our friends house in Black Hawk. Although they have a military discount it was mostly a waste of time. There were no lines because we visited on a Friday, but it was frigid on the mountain with blustery wind and 17 degree temps. Why is this a concern? Mainly because the lifts are 30-40 years old and slower than anything I've been on in the past decade. It takes an average of 10 or more minutes to get from the bottom to the top and you'll be frozen solid when you do arrive. Going down the run barely warmed me up enough to prepare for the next hypothermia-causing event called the lift. I did enjoy the runs on the backside of the mountain, but my freezing body core temperature couldn't handle being outside for more than 30 minutes at a time. Because of this I didn't stray from the main lodge much. I'd also like to add the bar was swamped and only one person working. It took 20-30 minutes just to place an order. The bartender didn't want two people working because she thought she could handle it (although it was a Friday of President's Day weekend). Hmm...poor judgment there. Go if it's free and you have no other option. Make sure you spend time in the town nearby. It's completely worth visiting and made the trip worthwhile. Eldora did not. read more

There are 4 reasons I like this place, but just 1 reason why I didn't give it a 5 star. They don't have tubing here, which I love so I just couldn't give this place another star. 1. This place is only 45 minutes from the house and so simple to get to. 2. Great prices and even better when purchasing at super markets 3. Great Children Ski lessons and my daughter LOVES THIS PLACE! 4. The snow is much softer here than Keystone and Loveland IMO. Never snowboarded at Aspen, just hung out so I will make my comparisons If I ever feel like wasting my money there. but me thinks NOT! Over priced! The drive is pretty smooth sailing driving up the hill and pretty idiot proof on getting lost, especially for someone like me..I've gone here about 6 times total and more so because it is close, but I do like it. My girls like it here better than Loveland and have come to know the place well. It's not too crowded like Keystone was everytime I've gone there. The price is right on, but if you have to rent gear I say go to Colorado ski & golf, unless you don't mind waiting in line and having to deal with the crowds.. My friend was visiting and her rental board was hooked wrong or something like that. Eldora gave her a comp snowboard for her to use because they said she could've really hurt herself. That was really nice of them to do that, so maybe this place should get a 5 star for their Great customer service, but I really want tubing on the days where I don't snowboard because of my aching/aging body.lol read more

No it's not great but it's so close to Denver! The runs are pretty short but the lift lines seem to keep moving. There are obviously better choices in Colorado but when in a pinch this will be ok. A full day lift ticket cost $79 in March 2013. read more

First time skier here. Wasn't sure what to expect. Was persuaded to go to Eldora last minute. Glad he changed our minds. It was perfect. Not crowded and a lot of fun. Every single staff member was so incredibly friendly. Never felt judged. We spent half a day there and I felt the price for the equipment rental and for the ski lift passes it was well worth it. I'm sure people looking for the resort style experience or more seasoned skiers might think less of this place. I just know myself and my group of 6 really enjoyed it. read more

This should be renamed the "nicest little ski resort" near Denver. Just had our girls in snowboarding lessons and they had a great time. Small and cozy little ale house with a local band and college football on....the locals were extremely welcoming and nice to the tourists like us visiting. read more

Very upset with how 80% of the staff treated us. My friend from out of town lost her phone on the mountain in an area that was off limits to us. They kept promising they'd go look for it "later." And every time "later" came around, they "were too busy." After spending all day looking for her phone, we were over it, and decided to just go home and try again the next day. In the midst of looking for her phone, I completely forgot to grab my snowboard on the way out and didn't realize until I was all the way back home. At most resorts, my snowboard would have forsure been at the lost and found the next morning, but not at Eldora. At the end of the day, I realize it was our fault for misplacing our things, but the staff could have handled the situation way more friendly, instead of just being rude and dismissive. Honestly, the mountain is not bad, being that it is so much closer than some of the others so I will be back, but will try to stay away from all the unpleasant staff. read more

I love Eldora for it's proximity to Boulder! The skiing itself is really pretty good and no real complaints there. Where my poor rating comes in is inept staff (mainly in ticketing and food service) and poor layout of services. This is really apparent when you have small children in tow, adults we can probably ignore the layout issue. Without going into too much detail, my advice would be to 1) buy your tickets / passes in advance in Boulder and skip the staff and 2) bring your own lunch. Eldora really is a what you see is what you get kind of place, it shouldn't have "resort" in it's name. No frills at all but that's ok. So for most of us, it's a wonderful place to spend the day and ski with the family. Just avoid the staff. read more

My family and have been going to Eldora, since 2011. It was fun, no thrills skiing for some of the first timers in my family and the ski lessons for the kids were cheap and staff was great. We will not be back this year as lift tickets have gone up and there have not been changes to the lifts, runs and amenities. This place needs a serious upgrade. My wife's grandfather wired the main building and one can still see some of the old light fixtures from the sixties. read more

Had a great experience on 12/12/15 bringing my son to Eldora for a snowboarding lesson. We're from Texas and decided to go skiing last minute while in Denver visiting family. I did not have a reservation for the ski school in advance so I was a little nervous I would drive up there and then be out of luck. No fear, he got into a class no problem. Instructor to student ratio was great for a Saturday. 3 kids to not just 1 instructor, but 2 (I'm guessing one of them was in training?). (It did look like the other classes had more than three, but definitely still good ratios). Anyway, it was like a private lesson at the group lesson rate. Trevor was great. Parking is right next to the main lodge so it was easy in and easy out. Definitely a no thrills resort, but perfect if you just want to bring in kid(s) for ski lessons. The only reason for the 4-star is the main lodge is pretty outdated. You cannot get cell service and there is not anything there to keep you busy if you opt out of skiing. For the affordability and quality of instruction, I would HIGHLY recommend Eldora! read more

Enjoyed the skiing. Usually go to Tahoe so this was a change and I can't compare to other Colorado resorts. Staff was friendly. Great family spot. Did get windy but not the resorts fault. While $89 for an all day pass may seem steep to some. They are a business that has to make its money on a shortened year. read more

I have skied Eldora for years and years, with my kids, with my grandkids later. Its a small little ski resort, old lodge, old lifts, but the price was right and its close.. Now however, management at Eldora has decided they are just as good and cool as Vail, or any other mega resort. They upped their season passes 125% and more. Seniors are pretty much not welcome, since they eliminated the over 70 crowd all together. Prices for families very high. And the Nordic area is not included in this price hike. You have to buy another season pass for that. WTH? They must suffer from delusions of grandeur. Hey you people up there, its an old area, the lodge is old, the snow is soso, the lifts are old, the runs are mostly not groomed, and what about the wind. Many times we had to turn around, because the wind was so bad they closed the upper lifts.. I understand that. Oh, BTW, where are your fancy condos, or restaurants. If you pretend to be Vail or Breckenridge, you have to present a different picture. Too bad, you have driven away a lot of locals who remember a nice little family ski area, so do the Nordic Teams, and seniors. But I would rather drive on I-70 then pay these greedy and outrageous prices. read more
