Nobody likes moving, let's be honest. But out of the sea of movers you can choose from, Active moving is the ONLY one that gives you all of the information up front. Not only do they talk about their own polices and pricing, but my sales rep gave me SO much information about how moves work and the realities of moving in NYC. What I never could have known when getting ready to leave the city is that long distance moving companies use an 18 wheeler tractor trailer to do moving. This makes sense because they want to move as many people at a time to keep costs down and obviously to make it logistically possible. Now I never realized that in NYC you cannot use a tractor trailer, whether it's legal or not is not the issues but just physically it's impossible for a trailer to move around on those streets. Out of the 5 companies I talked to, Active moving was THE ONLY ONE to tell me any of this. Not only that, but since they knew that the trailer was not going to make it to my house, they arranged for a smaller truck (i think 22 or 24 feet?) to come to the house to do the pickup. First of all, I appreciated that Active moving was careful enough to include the charges for the extra truck and labor into my move cost so I knew what it would cost me. Second of all, instead of bringing the trailer and wasting time when most companies know that the trailer will not make it anywhere in the city, Active moving just brought the smaller truck to start with to avoid that whole headache. It made my life so much simpler to not have to worry about that, and now looking back I realize that it would have made me crazy to find this out on move day when I was already super stressed! I had to give that main example of Actives' thorough approach to moving. Beyond the above, the estimate was meticulous and not one extra dime was charged. I loved everything from my first phone call to the moment the movers left my new home. Everyone involved with my move was personable, helpful and clearly they have great communication between departments because my sales rep made sure that the operations department was aware of my special requests and time limitations (yes I was THAT CUSTOMER, sorry guys!). Seriously Active moving really worked hard for the customer, and puts their needs first (well, as long as they can accommodate it within their guidelines). This company is a PROFESSIONAL CHEAT, LIAR AND A THIEF. When MIKE (they never give out last names - not even in their emails or calls for a reason I guess - They took my deposit money and sent out a weird driver who immediately "before even seeing my furniture - which is listed in the binding contract" 700 more! No calls, no one returning Emails/messages. today, the same MIKE calls and says "he could do nothing" for me" Natalia the manager is an answering Email service "Our Dispatcher said" they claimed the following SCAMS 1. trailer cannot reach my apartment!!!! a luxury apartment complex in Boston....Really? trucks and heavy machinery operate in this property on daily basis 2. I was unpacked! Really? when the driver walked in, he spent 30 seconds before demanding 700 more! he didn't even see the stuff 3. I had additional 12 stairs (in the contract every flight of stairs is an additional 75) but they decided to change that on the fly and reduce it to 75 "per step". I am going to fight them like there is no tomorrow! Few years ago i moved to an apartment within my condo community and did all the packing into the boxes myself. The rest was done by Active Moving. Although a short drive, everything still had to be loaded onto and unloaded of the truck and was done very smoothly. So, in the beginning of this year when i was helping my brother move to another state I called Active Moving again. With less time on our hands we actually asked them to do some of the packing. Between that, few flights of stairs (no elevator in my brother's old place) and the long distance move it seemed like it would be quite an ordeal. With all fees and details discussed upfront there were no surprises at the end and it turned out to be a great value. Despite some large pieces of furniture and steep turns there was not a scratch anywhere and any piece that had to be taken apart was put together on the spot. Moving is so stressful as it is. What a great company this was! From the moment I started planning my move they were the FIRST company to make me feel at ease about the move. I always stress out about everything, so allowing others to come into my home and move my belongings that I have worked so hard for is a huge things for me. And they knew that and really made me feel comfortable with the company before a commitment which I did and I appreciated that they gave me that time. The move itself was flawless. I gave the guys simple instructions and they did everything I asked. They wrapped up my furniture so good that I was not afraid AT ALL of any damage, nothing would penetrate my things with they way they wrapped! I was right...... at delivery everything went perfect! Let me start by saying what a great job this company did. They answered all my questions and made me feel in charge of my own move. There was no pressure game and not once did they make it seem that they wanted my money, only wanted to help me with my move, and that I really appreciated. You see I have a bad back due to a car accident so when I move I need full service, I cannot do anything. And I made sure to tell them that so they were not expecting a pair of helping hands. But the movers were wonderful! Anything I wanted or needed they did with no complaints they even helped me walk from room to room to show them where I needed something or what needed to be packed. They took great care of my things and I got everything in my home just as good as new. If I ever move again this company is it! I have already told my entire family about them and friends. I had a relatively simple task which I needed a moving company for, so I don't give it to these guys for being able to do it, I think anyone would have been able to move my already packed up house which had minimal pieces of furniture. I do however give them my highest kudos because of their fine customer service. Right off ze bat I was given a slow polite breakdown of everything I would be paying, I'm sure their office has to do this many times a week so I appreciated that they didn't gloss over anything. I had questions to ask a few times so I called back, I spoke with different people every time but there wasn't a question I couldn't get answered. I think at the very least they know how to hire the right people, and at the very most they really do care about their customers. I am an optimistic realist so I lean towards the latter. I have been planning my move for months. I just wanted to make sure that everything went smoothly. This was my first move cross country so it was something that I was unfamiliar with. After many phone calls, the folks at Active kept in touch with me updating anything new that I needed to add for my quote. That is the reason I choose them in the end. If they were going to be this attentive before me even being a customer I knew they would handle my move right, and they did!! Everything was packed up for me so professionally, they knew what they were doing because once my things arrived nothing was broken. Before leaving they made sure I accounted for all my things and thank goodness they did because I was missing a lamp and a kitchen box, which were on the truck so it was no biggie. What a move! Can I just say wow! Everyone that I dealt with at Active moving were very responsive and professional. Not once did I ever feel they were trying to sell me my move but they tried to make sure that everything I wanted to happen during my move happened. For example, I needed some help packing because I was just to busy to get everything ready I time. The guys made sure to ask how I wanted things put into the boxes and what items did they need to be careful with. Once my things arrived to me nothing was damaged at all. These guys were really great! I really felt like I was paying them to work for me!! I move a lot and this is the first time that I was really happy with the company. My moves usually go however the company wants to do it, like pick up and delivery dates and price and packing. They always tell me a date and come a day or two after, well not Active!! They told me when they were going to be there and were there and at delivery too. And if I had a question it was answered! I had no damages which was amazing to me! Let me just start out by saying great job! Active really went over and beyond when it came to my move. I had to move on short notice due to a promotion and I was not prepared at all. I called a bunch of companies but Active really made me feel like they knew what they were talking about. I talked to them for about 2 hours just going back and forth on what I needed done. It had to be a full pack move which I did not like at all because I hate others touching my things but in the end it worked out great. The movers knew my concern ahead of time and made sure that I was with them if possible in every room they packed just so I would be comfortable. Very good customer service; professional: In the process of moving our upright piano (which my wife had just purchased) up the stairs in our apartment, they broke a leg off of it. They made sure to assess the damage and compensate me in full. They were attentive during a difficult move (five story walk-up), and other than that, every went according to plan I called them afterwards, faxed the receipt (with the mover's signature, stating that the piano was damaged), and emailed pictures, and they made sure to cover the entire cost of the repair. The owner was very apologetic and I trust that he wants this business to have a good reputation, and is taking all necessary steps to do so. read more

I think the best thing about my move is that I can talk greatly about it. This would be the first move that I can actually talk good about. It all started on June 30th when the movers arrived at my home. They had their smiles on and ready to work. As soon as they started loading I knew they were professionals. They took their time to make sure everything fit with room space. They also wrapped my huge hutch so great that even after hundreds of miles they arrived in perfect condition. All I have to say is WOW!! I move yearly due to my job and this was by far the best move ever! I was not over priced; I actually paid less them what they quoted. And this is the first time that I moved and nothing was damaged, at all! They wrapped my things so good that even if the truck crashed my things would have been protected. Absolutely wonderful experience! Nothing went wrong at all, which shocked the heck out of me. Usually I am the person that gets ripped off by moving companies lol. This experience with Active has been a tremendous one. They quote was not the lowest but every question was answered, all services were included and they were very respectful people. The movers were there to work, which I appreciated because I was so stressed that they would be slackers, but they were amazing movers. All my things got to my new home in PERFECT condition. The only complaint I had was the their truck broke down so my things got to me a little late, but let me tell you they kept me very up to date. My first time moving ever and I feel blessed that I choose this company! Not knowing what to expect they answered all my questions and more. They let me know how everything was going to happen step by step. Even the movers themselves were very professional and informative guys. I have never moved with a company who has ever done a good job. The move went great, actually! Once they quoted me on the phone I was hooked. They answered all my questions with website references to back them up. Not only that, but for a full pack move to FL they were not that bad. I researched for about a week until I finally committed to them and I am VERY happy that I did. The movers were great!!!!!
