TL;DR I was DISCRIMINATED against for being a WOMAN and told I had to pay 140% more to have my clothes cleaned, even though "launder" and not "dry clean" are the care instructions on the tags. $6 for dry cleaning is a fair price. They did a great job with my "dry clean only" silk blouse and I was happy to pay that price, as that was the specific care instructions for the garment. I would've gladly paid this rate for my other blouses and pants as well, as that is the care instructions on the tags. I brought in a couple 97-100% cotton button up shirts for Launder and Press where the care instructions clearly say to "launder" (machine wash with like, tumble dry low, warm iron). This is how they have been cared for at other cleaners for the last 10 years. I was DISCRIMINATED against for being a WOMAN, and was told my shirts did not qualify for this service and would need to be charged 140% more for the Blouse rate, which is dry cleaning. If the care instructions on the tag indicated this, I would've been happy to pay, however some say specifically to not dry clean and all say to launder. Originally I was charged the Laundered Shirt rate because they thought it was men's shirts. Just moved to JC and was looking for my go-to cleaners, where I can bring my rugs, comforter, work clothes, everything. I would've been a very loyal customer. This place mixes your clothes! I went to do some laundry on a Monday morning. It was oddly packed but mostly due to delivery services. I mean garbage bags everywhere, clothes everywhere! THEN, I put my coothnhes in the dryer, come back 30 mins later when they are done to find clothes added to my dry load. Who does that??? I get it, you have deliveries but what place adds clothes to a load that isn't there's??? I could have taken them home with me ( which may explain why I've lost a few items there). The workers are no help, act like they don't understand you when they do. It really has taken a turn since I moved here a few years ago. Shrunk my $400 coat, stained my sheets, and now are not responding to my calls for a refund. I know the coat is shrunk bc it fit the day before my dry cleaning was picked up... It has been over a MONTH AND A HALF and every time I call they say someone will get back to me and e never do. Absolutely horrible customer service and terrible experience. I placed an order to wash the pillows and they were delivered wet. It takes a long time to dry the pillows and that is precisely why I sent it out instead of doing it at home. It took another day and two hour cycles on four dryers to complete the work after paying $30 to wash them. Very responsive & timely pick up & drop off. Pillows do smell clean. Needed to call the cops to get my clothes! I dropped off well over a thousand dollars worth of suits for dry cleaning. When I went to pick them up the woman at the counter couldn't find me in the computer. It turned out that, because of the ridiculous system they have (matching the last 4 digits of your phone number), the clothes were logged under another customers account (there were two other people with the same 4 digits). No problem - mistakes happen - but the woman behind the counter was so immediately hostile and unhelpful I was taken aback. It actually seemed like she thought I was trying to scam her for some reason. Another reviewer on Google accused them of racism...I don't know about that but I do know I've never received such offensive service from any service provider ever. Not only would she not let me look for my suits to identify them and determine next steps to resolve the problem (which is what I've been allowed to do with mix ups at other dry cleaners), she wouldn't even look herself based on my very specific descriptions of each article of clothing. Her position was if I wasn't in the system she wouldn't do anything. I went home and was relieved to find I miraculously still had the paper receipt for the drop off. On that you could clearly see the items of clothing and that they were logged under a different account with the same last four phone number digits. I returned to the dry cleaner and showed the attendant the receipt with all the information but, because of the hostility and lack of cooperation, I didn't want to give-up the receipt until I got my clothes (which is the normal order of operations anyway). Not only did she refuse to give me my clothes without physically taking the receipt first (which I didn't want to do), she actually blamed ME for the mix up, as if somehow the clothes being under the wrong amount was my fault. Rather than engaging in a shouting match or battle of wills over something so stupid I told her I was going to call the cops, which I did. I apologetically called the non-emergency number and let the officer know I was calling for an embarrassingly ridiculous reason but that I didn't know what else to do to get my possessions while avoiding unnecessary escalation. A couple of officers arrived about 30 minutes later. I again apologized and explained that, because of the hostility and lack of cooperation, I just needed someone "official" to bear witness to the transaction just to be sure everything was handled properly and that I received my belongings. Shout out to JCPD - it was an incredibly stupid and unnecessary reason to need to call the police but they handled the call professionally and promptly and the two officers on the scene were great. They "brokered" the transaction, I paid and that was that. I'm frankly embarrassed even writing this up here but the woman's behavior was so alarming and offensive that I think other customers and potential customers should know to stay away from this place. There are plenty of laundry options and I think folks would be well advised to take their business elsewhere. read more

Had to chase 3 weeks for the owner to respond to me rudely saying they couldn't find the suit, furthermore their excuse for paying not even half of the price of my suit is that my suit was used. I used the suit once and it held sentimental value to me, what's even more disgusting is that the owner scoffed at me when saying he thought I should be happy with them reimbursing 1/3 of the suit value. read more

They've wasted my entire day. Told me pick up was between 12-2pm. I called at 2:15pm and woman says,"Oh yeah, the systems not right. Pick up is between 4-7pm. You're Isabel, right? I see your order." Well, if you SEE my order and you KNOW I'm waiting, WHY WOULDNT YOU CALL AND SAY YOU SCREWED UP!? Why keep me waiting? This is the second time this has happened. Probably the worst experience i have had with a laundry service in the area! They misplaced our clothes, gave us someone else's clothes, never bothered to call back or follow up with status of our clothes! Finally After repeated calling they say that they will try to locate the clothes next day !!(like really!!) giving absolutely no reason ! Again after multiple calls the next day (btw they completely forgot about our clothes) finally located some of our clothes and returned it. Pathetic pathetic service. Recently moved nearby and started doing my laundry, it really feels like they don't care about the people who come in to do laundry and only care about the pick up and delivery services. This has been my third time IN A ROW where I would come in, do laundry, and see that my dryer was stalled because the filter needs to be cleaned. I lose an extra hour of my time because I wait for the dryer to be done only to realize it's been stalled. And like I said this has been the third time it has happened to me, the third time I have to ask the employees about this issue because my machine is stalled. I literally have never experienced this anywhere else. I've had my clothing here for two weeks. I'm annoyed at this point. I've asked the owner to call me multiple times and nothing has happened. Very sad as the employees are super nice and it's a decent laundromat. Poor management when things occur. Again, I've asked the manager to call me SEVERAL times and they haven't. This is a great laundromat for so many reasons. One, they have awesome hours (6 am - 10 pm every day). Definitely the best hours in Jersey City. Two, they have energy efficient machines. Three, the prices are really good despite the eco-friendliness and great hours. Four, you can pay with a credit card (you just need to get a laundry card which is free). Need more reasons? Here are some -their dryers are ridiculously fast. Why am I so excited about a laundromat? Lots of reasons! First, they only use natural, organic, eco-friendly detergent and products for their wash-and-fold service (and for purchase). That's HUGE for me because I have sensitive skin and I don't like fragrance laundry products. The machines are brand new and state-of-the-art, so they're very efficient and you get every nickle's worth. You can even return your dry cleaning hangers -- very green! Also, they use cards, not quarters, so you can use cash or credit card (and you don't have to obsess about hording quarters). The cost for washers and dryers is definitely competitive with all the other laundromats around. The wash-and-fold service is only $.75 per pound, and that's a great deal. It's a great space, newly renovated, has WiFi, not too many TVs, tons of machines, and the folding tables are kind of awesome. There's a customer restroom. The place is always VERY clean. There's a sink available for washing your hands when you get soap on them, as I always seem to do. :-) They're on the corner of Newark Avenue and Second Street, so it's easy to pull up to the curb with your car and hop in and out. PLUS they're also offering pickup and drop-off service. Sometimes the laundromat smells like Carmen Rosa Bakery, a few doors down. Yum! There are lots of great cafes and shops to visit nearby during wash and dry cycles. The hours are convenient, too: 6am-10pm everyday (last wash at 9pm). It's very clear Christopher, the owner, takes great pride in his business. He's a nice guy (with an adorable little boy) and genuinely cares about his customers and their experience. He lives in Hudson County, so we have an opportunity to support another local small business owner who "gets it." Best laundromat in JC: it's only $2 for small machines, the equipment is brand new, it's not crowded, has free WiFi, great customer service and good for the environment. Nearly every other laundry joint charges at $2.25 per small machine and they are usually old and dirty. The machines here are so high-tech that they weigh your clothes to determine the precise amount of water to prevent waste. California needs more of these machines! The owner Christopher is great, friendly and super helpful. Doing laundry is hell, but this place makes it bearable and can save a buck. read more

I've been using JC eco laundry on and off for a couple of years. I really wanted to love their wash and fold service bc it was recommended by friends and bc their default is free and clear detergent (I'm allergic to anything with fragrance), but unfortunately they just don't do a great job. The folding is atrocious - hems on t-shirts, camis, shorts, pants get folded in the opposite direction they should be or rolled up causing creases that can't be removed without ironing or rewashing. And 80% of the time my clothes are folded in such an absurd way that I have to refold them when they come back. This time some of my whites/lights came back with stains they didn't have before - and my dark clothes usually come back covered in lint and what looks like dog hair from other people's dogs. That is when they do come back - last summer I had to chase them over the phone because they didn't deliver my laundry the day they were supposed to (before a big trip) and it took them two days to figure out where it was and bring it back. Also, despite the fact that I provide them with a reusable laundry bag, they always return my clothes inside a large single use plastic bag, which is not only wasteful but also not allowed in Jersey City. The positives: You can schedule your pick up and drop off online easily (though their system makes it hard to provide proper instruction/edit old instruction). The delivery driver is really nice and always arrives during the scheduled time, if not a little early. read more

Do not dry clean here - clothes have come back damaged and/or with stains not removed multiple times. They're super nice here and my husbands shirt come out amazing, but after several damaged items have come back I won't be risking it for dry cleaning anymore. Last year I left a 5 star review and they deserve it for the atmosphere, staff, and men's shirts, but my stuff has gotten damaged too many times now which is frustrating. read more

Large washers and dryers are out of order a lot of the time. What makes the experience particularly horrible is the grumpy old lady with short curly gray hair and glasses who snaps at customers, doesn't wear her mask all the time and closes the bathroom a lot of the time. You are then forced to ask her to open it for you then she complains that she's busy and grumbles. I try to avoid her at all costs! She also talks disparagingly about the customers in Spanish to her friends forgetting that customers can understand Spanish. I used to like going there because it was clean but it's not worth the aggravation and negativity. read more

This is specifically for their dry cleaning. I have tried here several times for dry cleaning, and it is really a pain. Follow the other reviews as well. They appear from the reviews to be fine as a laundromat. I have had several shirts come back from here: 1. With new Stains on them 2. Still with the stains that I had specifically asked them to address 3. Suit Jacket and Suit pants with an unknown substance on them The alterations here were done reasonably well, but the dry cleaning is such a mess, as well as them not texting me when a new order came in. I shouldn't have to re-clean my clothes after them coming from the dry cleaner (the key word being cleaner). I think this may be a good place for a laundromat, but for dry cleaning, stay away!!!! read more

The system is decent with delivery. My clothes are organized, cleaned, and folded, nothing damaged. Prices are not steep but it's is pricy. Problems? It's the notification process. I'm disabled so I need support with larger loads to wash and since harsh chemicals aren't possible for me to use, I must use scent free detergent. I ordered the first time for next day delivery and I wasn't notified when my laundry didn't arrive. I waited until late evening trying to contact them. Instead I called and called and when someone answered they were very lax, "OH yeah. It can't be done today, it'll be dropped off tomorrow. There was an emergency." This was terrible customer service. No apology or discount or acknowledgement how this could affect a customers time. Would I even be home tomorrow? She didn't care. The actual delivery person texts me to notify me when he's on his way and is very kind in person. A+ to him and the hard work he does! The person at the laundromat however, -- was distracted, disinterested, couldn't feign thoughtfulness. I'm going to try them again and hope for improvement. read more

I used to like them better. Their operations seems to have gone off the deep end or maybe I've just started caring more about my clothes. The person who picks up and drops off is nice. They will text you with a warning that they are almost there for pick-up, but you can't really predict if it will be 15 mins or 15 seconds. That isn't a negative necessarily, it is just a minor frustration. Definitely not why I am dinging them. Here is my issue: Hot water costs more money than cold, yes? And cranking the dryer, to me, would probably take more electric than drying without a lot of heat. And this place prides itself on being eco-concious. So you could think a laundry place for the sake of their bill and your clothes would err on the side of gentle treatment of your clothing, right? Apparently not, they nuked some of my clothes and shrunk them terribly. They weren't expensive clothes, but they were also my favorite clothes. I recently started paring down my wardrobe so when I lose two pieces of clothing, that is a huge hit. So yeah, I think I am going the safe route and washing my small batch myself. Two of the laundry bags I've used to deliver laundry to these guys have disappeared. One was very handy, it had straps like a backpack and a smaller outside pouch for carrying detergent and other things. I don't remember how much it cost but it wasn't free and this company offered no explanation for what happened to it or any compensation for it. When you trust a company to take your laundry the most basic covenant of the service is that you expect that company to take care to ensure that every last article you gave to them will be returned to you. That trust has been violated so I'm done with these jokers. FYI The timing of the pick up and delivery is also very flaky. read more

Very convenient and easy to use for wash and fold. I have never done a wash and fold before and the manager literally made the whole process easy. He weighed our bag and one basic medium sized basket weighed about 30 pounds. Hooked us up with his own fold bag so we don't have to use plastic bags. They fold literally everything! Even your underwear and they color code your clothes which was very convenient. I highly suggest if you can wash a comforter at a friends house or wash it on your own. It was an automatic $12 for a comforter, so I thought that was expensive. Otherwise, I love this place. read more
