Absolutely the go-to in Yreka for authentic, fire grilled fresh fare. Tacos, tortas, quesadillas, and super burritos are all prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Ambiance isn't anything to write home about but it's clean and cool in the summertime and warm in the wintertime. Outdoor seating is available when it's seasonable. I am extremely impressed. Every option they offer in meat (tacos, burritos, quesadillas) they offer in vegetarian. My first visit I had two vege tacos which come with beans (no lard in the beans), spanish rice, cheese, salsa, lettuce, onion, guacamole, cilantro and salsa - they were super yummy!!! I have never experienced such a rude restaurant owner in my life. My son called to ask if they had any taco deals. the owner said they were busy and hung up on him. I thought for sure this must have been a mistake. So I called them and asked for the owner. she said she was the owner. Explained to her what happened she said she was to busy for this and hung up on me also. I was shocked they treat their customers like that. With no respect for the customers. I will never eat there again and could not recommend anyone else eat there in good conscience. Worst service ever. read more

Both my husband and I love the carne asada and carnitas. All the meat is cooked over a wood fire. The salsa is very authentic and they have both hot and mild and their guacamole is extremely tasty. We tried their pinto beans and they are just that, plain and simple the way Rancho/Pintos are supposed to be. Again, very authentic. We do feel however, it's not the tidiest establishment but you have to consider the outstanding quality and price for really good "authentic" Mexican food. read more

New to the area and my wife and I stopped in after a recommendation from an employee at Meeks Lumber! We ordered meat dishes, carnitas and carne asada, because the outside grill smokes the meat using wood. The smokey wood flavor was excellent, the meat was not overcooked. More like a taqueria than a traditional mexican restaurant, it does have some tables for seating. You order at the counter and they bring you your selection. The rice/beans/tortilla's were all quite good. I asked for the hot sauce which wasn't very hot....maybe I missed out on the real stuff because many reviews mention it being very good? I have now been back 3 times after being told that the burritos are excellent....first two times perfect....the smoked carnitas...the excellent hot sauce....really good. The last time...my meat did not taste even slightly smoked....and they forgot the hot sauce which for me is a must on a burrito. Hopefully they will make it right next time....everyone makes mistakes so I won't complain yet read more

Best Mexican food north of Baja, well ok I lived in San Diego and Nico's was the bomb down there. Hard to find really good Mexican food this far north, and this place is really the bomb!! First timer and was hoping for some authentic mexican food. First impression was that once inside, the smell of old stale frying oil was a little overpowering. I ordered beef tacos, nachos and my hubby ordered the beef burrito. The tacos were delicious but not beef - chicken. The burrito was big and hubby liked it. I loved the cilantro and onion, and the guacamole on the tacos was fresh and very tasty! The nachos, on the other hand... well that was disappointing. Old stale chips and canned nacho sauce! A suggestion to the staff... use real mexican cheese and work on your frying skills. The staff was very friendly and the service fast. The prices are very reasonable and if they can get rid of the old oil smell I would definitely return. On the way out, they were bbqing ribs that smelled and looked really good!
